Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 554: Chapter 554: Look How Much It Hurts You

Qin Jian’s military jeep drove into the camp headquarters.

Inside the army courtyard, he grabbed a random warrior and asked, ”Is Tian Niu around?”

Seeing Qin Jian’s shoulder insignia, the warrior immediately stood at attention and saluted solemnly, ”Reporting, Commander! The Battalion Commander has returned; he’s currently in the infirmary! During the training session, he injured his foot and is now being treated for the wound!”

The moment Gu Shuangshuang heard Tian Niu had been injured, she became anxious, ”How can this blockhead not take care of himself? He’s already a Battalion Commander, yet he still gets hurt during these routine exercises!”

”Look how worried you are,” An Hao couldn’t resist teasing her.

”Well of course. When the Chief of Staff was injured, weren’t you the one who lost all appetite? Compared to you, I’m just a minor character in a great sage’s presence.

”Let’s go. I’ll take you to see Tian Niu.”

.................................

In the infirmary, Tian Niu, with bare feet, was sitting on the medical bed chatting with Nurse Xiaotian.

Xiaotian’s full name was Tian Dandan, who had just turned nineteen this year, serving as a medical soldier in the army. The young girl was tender-looking and spoke with a soft voice, making her popular among the warriors.

”Battalion Commander, just look at the state of your feet! They’re already festering. If you don’t take proper care of your big toe, I’m afraid you might truly lose it, and worse comes to worst, we might even have to amputate it with surgery,” Tian Dandan said, very concerned as she looked at Tian Niu’s swollen and ulcerated feet.

”Xiaotian, you shouldn’t scare the Battalion Commander like that! He may seem tough, but he’s actually quite sensitive and can’t handle much,” Xiaojin, the young warrior accompanying Tian Niu, couldn’t help saying.

”Nonsense! You’re just trying to slander me!” Tian Niu said, thumping his chest, ”Xiaotian knows about my foot injury; have I ever made a big deal out of it?”

”It’s precisely because you don’t take it seriously that people are worried!” Tian Dandan frowned at Tian Niu, ”Battalion Commander, you really must start listening! Training is indeed important, but so is taking care of your health. It’s said that health is the capital of the revolution. If you lose that capital, what will you have left for the revolution?”

”Ah, Xiaotian is absolutely right,” Xiaojin said with a grin, looking at Tian Dandan, ”Xiaotian, I’ve noticed something but I’m not sure if I should bring it up.”

”What’s this about should or should not? If you want to say something, say it. If not, hold it back. I dislike people who beat around the bush when they talk,” Tian Niu said loudly.

”Exactly. Go ahead and speak,” Tian Dandan said, without even looking up.

”Hehe, Xiaotian, I just feel like you have an extra special concern for our Battalion Commander,” Xiaojin said with a sly grin on his face.

All of a sudden having her feelings exposed, Tian Dandan’s face flushed red, with a rosy glow spreading across her fair complexion.

She discreetly glanced at Tian Niu, her cheeks burning even more fiercely, ”Don’t talk nonsense! Am I not nice to all of you?”

”You’re nice, but especially nice to the Battalion Commander.”

”The Battalion Commander is a leader! He leads everyone in tiring and strenuous training and work. Isn’t it normal that I take extra care of him?” Tian Dandan’s voice was soft and pleasant to the ear, which pleased Tian Niu immensely.

Xiaojin was not convinced by her response, ”Really? But I’ve heard Medical Soldier Xiaoliu say that you’re extremely concerned about the Battalion Commander! You even shout his name in your dreams at night!”

”You’re talking nonsense!” Tian Dandan denied, but the smile on her face was impossible to
