Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 572: Chapter 572: Came Down with a High Fever

Feng Chunhua was about to explode upon hearing that, a fire of fury unignited within her.

Yang Erxiu, seeing her mother becoming anxious, grabbed her arm with her little hand and said, ”Mom, don’t worry! From today on, I’ll keep an eye on that little vixen for you!”

An eight- or nine-year-old child, who already understood a lot, still remained ignorant of many things.

Yang Erxiu didn’t comprehend the world of adults, but one thing she knew for sure was that she must despise anyone and anything her mother disliked.

”My good, good son.” Feng Chunhua hugged Yang Erxiu tightly, ”I’ll reward you properly later. What do you want?”

”I want to eat a banana.”

”Okay!”

Yang Dahe drank a bit too much that night, and Feng Chunhua thought about having a serious talk with him, but then decided against it.

If he got annoyed while drunk, she would only get scolded again.

Better to endure it for the time being.

When she was at Zhang Guifang’s house, she had already heard that An Hao’s vacation was almost over.

Soon, she would have to return home and go back to school.

Anyway, since she had come this time, surely she wouldn’t leave easily. If she could manage to rid herself of An Hao during this period, so be it.

....................................

Mid-August weather, with thunderstorms that arrived without warning.

As soon as An Hao opened her eyes in the morning, she heard a burst of lightning and thunder. She turned over and saw that the other side of the bed was already empty.

”Qin Jian...” she murmured.

Qin Jian had just finished washing up and donned his military uniform. Hearing An Hao’s voice from the bedroom, he walked in, ”It’s only six o’clock, still early. You should sleep some more.”

”Are you leaving so early?” An Hao sat up, her head dizzy.

”I have a meeting at the headquarters. I’ll come back by evening!” Qin Jian looked at himself in the mirror and fastened the discipline button on his collar, ”I’m leaving now, you should sleep a bit more. You look very tired!”

”Hmm. Then I won’t see you out.” After saying this, An Hao quickly lay down again.

Watching An Hao on the bed, struggling to keep her eyes open, Qin Jian smiled slightly, put on his military cap, and left.

Feeling weak all over, An Hao slept until her eyes opened again to find the thunder had stopped, and the rain had turned into a fine drizzle pouring down quietly.

She was about to get up to go to the bathroom when she felt bitterly cold.

Despite it being a sultry summer day, where a downpour would usually be a relief, why was she feeling chilled to the bone?

An Hao figured she must have a high fever.

And it must be very high!

Even her stream of consciousness was beginning to dissipate, but she knew she had to hold on and go to the infirmary for an injection, or else the fever would surely claim her life.

Wearing pajamas, An Hao wanted to change her clothes, but found herself dreadfully lethargic.

She could collapse at any moment.

So she decided not to change, opting to go in her pajamas instead.

It just meant exposing more of her legs.

With gritted teeth, An Hao descended two floors to knock on the door of Zhang Guifang’s apartment, but there was no response for a long time.

So, she stubbornly clenched her teeth and made her way downstairs.

In the army residential compound, many family members and visitors lived there; if push came to shove, she could just stop anyone downstairs, explain her situation, and surely someone would accompany her.

Having come down the stairs, An Hao encountered Yang Dahe, who had just emerged from his home.

”Brother Yang...” An Hao called out.

When Yang Dahe saw it was An Hao, he went over to her.
