Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 582: Chapter 581: Old Bull, My Stomach Hurts!

”Alright, I admit I accidentally broke it,” Tian Dandan pointed to the ground beneath her feet and said, ”I knocked it over by accident when I was giving the warrior an injection just now.”

”Then you should explain it clearly to her. Otherwise, if she has gone to fetch Commander Tian, wouldn’t that be even more embarrassing?”

”Okay.” Tian Dandan felt that Zhang Lin made sense. She took a deep breath and said to Gu Shuangshuang, ”I’m sorry, there was a mistake with my work. There was one more painkiller injection, but I accidentally smashed it.”

Gu Shuangshuang, sweating cold sweat from the pain, saw her sincere apology and didn’t say another word; she took the list and left.

Her periods had been irregular for over two months and hadn’t come at all, but this time her period came, and her stomach hurt so bad, felt like her back was about to break.

And it just had to be today—couldn’t it have been two days later?

It would have been better if it happened when she was back at school, right?

Now the whole military camp was full of men, even going to the toilet was awkward.

Gu Shuangshuang returned to her dormitory, hugging her belly and curling up on the bed. Good lord, it was like the universe was conspiring against her, a camp’s infirmary without pain relief pills or injections, what a joke?

The day was just beginning, how long would she have to endure this?

By evening, the training was over.

Tian Niu hurried back, pushing open the door of the dormitory, for the first time not greeted by Gu Shuangshuang’s sweet embrace.

Instead, he saw the usually fierce Gu Shuangshuang listlessly lying on the bed, almost curled into a complete circle.

”What’s the matter?” Tian Niu took off his jacket, casually tossed it aside, and sat down in front of Gu Shuangshuang’s bed.

Gu Shuangshuang, in so much pain that she was breaking out in a cold sweat, saw Tian Niu and was uncharacteristically gentle for once, ”Old Niu, my stomach hurts.”

Tian Niu saw Gu Shuangshuang’s pale face and the cold sweat on her forehead and couldn’t help scolding her, ”Are you silly? If your stomach hurts you should go to the infirmary instead of stubbornly bearing it here! Or you could have sent someone to call me.”

After saying that, he bent down to pick up Gu Shuangshuang to take her to the infirmary.

”Put me down, put me down!” Gu Shuangshuang quickly patted Tian Niu’s back, ”I went to the infirmary, they don’t have any painkillers.”

”If your stomach hurts, we need to find out the reason. It doesn’t make sense to ask for a pain relief injection straight away without knowing the reason,” he said.

Gu Shuangshuang weakly said, ”My ’relatives’ have arrived.”

”What relatives?” The sudden change of topic made Tian Niu pause.

”Aunt Flo! Haven’t you heard of it?” Gu Shuangshuang gave Tian Niu a look.

”Our Aunt Flo is here? Why didn’t you say so earlier? I’ll send someone to pick her up right now! Where is she?” Tian Niu said, getting ready to leave.

”Oh my! You really are clueless!” Gu Shuangshuang was both amused and annoyed, feeling her stomach pain worsen, ”It’s that time of the month that every woman gets.”

Hearing that it was about that, Tian Niu sheepishly scratched the back of his head and chuckled.

He had sisters back at home, so he was not completely unaware of this matter.

”So what should we do about it?” He was at a loss as to how he could help.

”Make me a cup of brown sugar water,” Gu Shuangshuang sighed, ”and I’m out of paper. Buy a roll for me on your way.”

At the end of the eighties, sanitary pads had not yet flooded the market.

So, girls usually used relatively soft toilet paper instead.

”Alright. Wait for me, okay?”

Tian Niu had never heard of such things as brown sugar water—who used that usually, men? And what was toilet paper? Like the tough guys they were, they would just tear off a few sheets of used grid paper, crumple it up, and use it for the bathroom.
