Sweet Nostalgia of the 80s

Chapter 569: Chapter 569: Sister-in-law’s Skills are Impeccable

When the three of them reached the ground floor, Yang Dahe was about to head back to his place, but Li Zecheng grabbed him, ”Dahe, if you go home for dinner, you’ll regret it. I’m telling you, my sister-in-law’s cooking is really something else.”

Yang Dahe was also curious to taste the dish Li Zecheng was raving about, but he felt it was a bit awkward.

After all, his wife often troubled An Hao for no good reason, how could he have the cheek to dine at Qin Jian’s home?

”Is that really okay?” Yang Dahe said this, but actually, he was hoping Qin Jian would invite him.

”There’s nothing wrong with that. It would be just perfect for the three of us to have a sit-down together,” Qin Jian finally invited him.

”Well, if that’s the case, I’ll join as well. You guys go on up, I’ll pop home to give them a heads up,” Yang Dahe said.

”Hurry up,” Li Zecheng called out.

Upon returning home, Yang Dahe didn’t see Feng Chunhua; only his daughter Yang Erxiu sitting on the sofa playing with her toys.

”Erxiu, where’s Mom?” he asked.

Without really lifting her head, Yang Erxiu responded, ”Mom is in the bathroom.”

”Tell your mom I won’t be eating at home tonight. No need to make my dinner.” Yang Dahe took some money from the house and was about to leave when Erxiu asked him, ”Dad, where are you going to eat?”

”I’m going over to your Uncle Qin’s.” After that, Yang Dahe left.

Since it was his first time dining at someone else’s home, he couldn’t go empty-handed, so he bought some fruit before heading to Qin Jian’s place.

As soon as he entered Qin Jian’s home, Yang Dahe felt instantly that this was a real home, unlike his own.

His own home was always a mess, Feng Chunhua wasn’t particularly clean or tidy, with dirty clothes often strewn about everywhere.

In contrast, Qin Jian’s home was neat and orderly.

By the time he arrived, the food was already on the table. An Hao hadn’t known they would be coming and didn’t prepare enough food.

As soon as she heard Yang Dahe was coming as well, she quickly busied herself in the kitchen for a while, adding two more dishes, including the tiger skin green peppers they had all been longing to try.

The moment the dish was served, its enticing aroma filled the room, leaving the men unable to restrain their chopsticks.

”Go on, try it and see if it’s as good as it smells.” An Hao said with a smile as she sat down, and Qin Jian reached over to help her remove her apron, setting it aside.

”Yep, this is the taste! Absolutely delicious.”

Yang Dahe quickly took a bite too, heaping praise on An Hao, ”This is really good! Sister-in-law has amazing skills! No wonder Zecheng can’t stop bragging about it in the army! Truly well-deserved reputation.”

....................................

After coming out of the bathroom, Feng Chunhua was preparing to cook when Erxiu told her, ”Mom, Dad’s not coming home for dinner. He said he’s going to Uncle Qin’s place for dinner.”

”To that vixen’s place?” Feng Chunhua felt uneasy at once; she did not want her husband anywhere near Qin Jian’s family.

Yang Erxiu often heard Feng Chunhua use the term ’vixen,’ and she had already equated An Hao with the term in her mind.

”Yeah. I even saw Dad take some money.” Yang Erxiu told Feng Chunhua everything she had seen.

Upon hearing this, Feng Chunhua slammed her apron onto the floor and gripped Erxiu by the hand, ”Let’s go, to your Aunt Guifang’s place.”

Mother and daughter arrived at Zhang Guifang’s doorstep and knocked on the door.

The door opened, and Zhang Guifang was in the midst of eating from a bowl. She was surprised to see them at this time, ”What brings you two here?”
