Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 1126: Become An Elder

Up in the sky, the three senior women of the Xuanyuan Clan kept staring at the Temple of the Forgotten Flame. ”Did you two hear what that female winged race said just now?”

The other two nodded to Xuanyuan Changyi before Xuanyuan Qian spoke. ”I didn’t expect that female phoenix to be the reincarnation of Empress Huo Yanling, and she clearly has a deep relationship with the Eternal Flame.”

”Somehow, I feel like their relationship has been going on for a long time; otherwise, they wouldn’t be so close.” Xuanyuan Changyi and Xuanyuan Qian looked at Xuanyuan Wuyue. ”If you two recall, Empress Huo Yanling’s past title was the Spirit Flame Empress, and her mastery of the fire element surpassed all cultivators. I’m sure that the Eternal Flame has been by her side for a long time, and it helped her obtain her title.”

Xuanyuan Changyi and Xuanyuan Qian pondered some past events, which convinced them that Feng Yao and Huo Ling had indeed been together for a long time. ”Should we meet them?”

”No.” Xuanyuan Wuyue refused with a shake of her head. ”The Eternal Flame should have already noticed our presence, but it won’t allow us to enter. Therefore, we should not disturb them and wait for the right time to meet him. By the way, I’m more curious about Zhang Fei [5], especially his swordsmanship.”

”Me too.” Xuanyuan Changyi nodded. ”Our Xuanyuan Clan is the best in the sword path, and no other cultivator can match us in it. However, the sword technique and domain that Zhang Fei [5] used before show that he is a god-rank swordmaster, and he has also perfectly comprehended the sword dao, which is difficult for cultivators at his age to achieve.”

Xuanyuan Qian nodded in agreement. ”It took us hundreds of years to fully understand the sword dao, but he was able to do it in less than forty years, which is truly amazing. Moreover, he has so many mythical beasts under his command, and all the humans on his side are strong, despite their cultivation still being in the Celestial Lord Realms. The most important thing is that he belongs to the righteous path, or this realm will face a terrifying scourge if he belongs to the heretic path.”

”Since he wants to wait for the merchant to appear, I’m sure he also wants to attend the auction. This way, we’ll meet him later, and we can talk to him then.” After that, the three women left the area and returned to monitoring the movements of the demons from the nine races, as they were sure that they would move soon, especially after many of their members died in a short time.

After he gave some instructions to his close people, Zhang Fei [5] went to the roof of the temple, which was more like a rooftop, to check some things.

However, Qing Qiu’er and You Feiling followed him there. ”Do you want to join our sect?”

Zhang Fei [5] turned to them. ”I was indeed planning to go to your domain after returning from this domain, and I had planned to join your sect to look for you, mainly because of the Forbidden Lotus Codex. However, I didn’t expect you to appear here, and I already had quite a few ideas about that technique. As for the Lotus Limbo World, I would never help you to enter there.”

”Why is that? Why are you so obedient to Empress Huo?” Qing Qiu’er asked with a frown.

Zhang Fei [5] released a soft sigh. ”You might think I’m too obedient to Feng Yao, but I know her quite well. Moreover, you already know her past identity as Empress Huo Yanling, so you should know that she is not an ordinary cultivator. She knows more things than other cultivators, but I won’t explain it to you in detail. Since she has strictly prohibited you from entering the Lotus Limbo World, I will never take you there. If you force yourself to go there, no one will be able to help you leave that place, and you will become one of those wandering souls.”

Qing Qiu’er shivered at the thought. Although she was eager to see the Lotus Limbo World, she was not a stupid woman, especially with her knowledge of Empress Huo Yanling’s abilities; not even Luong Wuzhao could defeat her in the past.

”Are you going to send your people back?”

Zhang Fei [5] shook his head before answering. ”They have cultivated and trained diligently to reach their current level over the past two decades, but cultivation and training will be useless without actual combat experience. They are not that weak even though their cultivation is still at the Celestial Lord Realm, so I will let them stay in the domain for now, and they will take care of the demons that will come here.”

”Although my cultivation is significantly higher than theirs, I lack confidence in my ability to fight them without using cultivation, much less to defeat them.” Qing Qiu’er then took out a token and gave it to him. ”With your abilities, our tests will be useless to you. Since you have decided to join our sect, I give this token to you. However, you will not be joining us as a disciple, and I want you to become an elder in our sect.”

Zhang Fei [5] was a little surprised by Qing Qiu’er’s decision, but You Feiling immediately spoke to him. ”Even though I’m not a swordmaster, I’m sure you’re a god-rank swordmaster, right? The formation array you used to fight the asura demon earlier wasn’t a low-grade or middle-grade array, but a high-grade one, which can exclusively be used by a rank 10 array master. With such abilities, it’s useless for you to be a disciple in our sect, and the position of an elder is the most appropriate for you.”

”Why do you two want me to be an elder?” Zhang Fei [5] curiously asked.

Qing Qiu’er released a soft sigh before explaining. ”Zhang Fei, our sect is a dual cultivation sect, but Feling and I don’t want our sect to continue to be as stagnant as it is now, and we want our sect to become one of the best in this realm. To make that happen, we believe we can’t just rely on dual cultivation, and we have to learn many new things. However, we don’t have knowledge in other fields, and we can’t possibly recruit people from various fields to join us, especially since most of them hate dual cultivators like us. Since you are an expert in several fields and have decided to join our sect, we hope you are willing to help us improve it.”

[Isn’t that a good choice, Master? You want to find a suitable place to establish your own power in this realm, and the Moonlit Passion Temple is quite powerful, even though it’s still not as powerful as the Immortal Lotus Sanctuary. If you join that sect and take these two women as your partners, their sect will automatically become yours, and you can use it as a base for the demon fox group.]

”How many elders and disciples are in your sect?”

”There are ten female and five male elders in total. However, our male elders don’t have significant influence, and all decisions in our sect rest with me and Feiling.” Zhang Fei [5] was not surprised by Qing Qiu’er’s answer, especially since Feng Yao had already told him about the latter. ”If you are willing to accept our offer, we will give you the freedom to make the decision, and we will follow your decision.”

”Alright, I agree.” Zhang Fei [5]’s decision made broad smiles spread across the faces of Qing Qiu’er and You Feiling.

’Additional quest, huh?’ Zhang Fei [5] then read the third notification. ’Upgrade my sect? I just joined the sect, but the system gave me such a quest straight away.’

”What should we do to improve our sect?”

Zhang Fei [5] pondered several ideas for a while. ”I want you to contact all your elders, and you can order them to prepare several places, such as the medical hall, blacksmith hall, alchemy hall, sword hall, and array hall. Dual cultivators without other advantages will never be useful, and I want your sect to change completely from a dual cultivation sect to a universal sect.”

”Alchemy, blacksmithing, and medical?” Both Qing Qiu’er and You Feiling were confused by that.

Zhang Fei [5] took out his alchemy token. ”As you guys can see, I am a god-rank alchemist. Even though I don’t have my blacksmith token yet, I am actually a supreme-rank blacksmith. As for the medical field, I have several people with good healing abilities, and I will bring them to join our sect. They will help us teach disciples who are interested in it, and our sect will truly become a universal sect .”

Qing Qiu’er and You Feiling were stunned to the point of being speechless for a while, making Zhang Fei [5] smile in amusement.

Zhang Fei [5] then told them something else. ”I also want to establish the assassin hall in our sect, and several other people will train them to become true assassins.”
