Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 1112: Ashen Lotus Monastery Ruins

”So, what’s the catch?” Qing Qiu’er looked at Zhang Fei [5] in confusion. ”I don’t know where you got the Forbidden Lotus Codex, and I’ve already benefited greatly from some of the sub-techniques within it. However, some of the effects are too good to be true, and the creator wouldn’t have put the ’forbidden’ word on it for no reason. I may not be as experienced as you in the world of cultivation, but I’m not stupid, and no technique is perfect. Since the creator put such a word on it, I’m sure it has hidden drawbacks or negative aspects, and you may not be aware of them yet.”

Qing Qiu’er nodded in agreement with him. ”In the past, I accidentally entered a portal that led me to a place called the Ashen Lotus Monastery Ruins, and I found a giant lotus there. Unlike our white and black lotuses, that lotus was half white and half black, just like a yin-yang. The lotus sucked me into it as I got close, and I was unconscious for several days. When I woke up, the lotus had disappeared, and the Forbidden Lotus Codex had been imprinted in my mind.”

”Did you find any other clues there? Do you remember the location of the portal?” Zhang Fei [5] questioned her.

”That place is very small, and it’s completely empty.” Qing Qiu’er’s answer made Zhang Fei [5] raise an eyebrow, as he couldn’t believe that there wasn’t any clue there. ”As for the location of the portal, I found it in the Empyrean Main Domain, and your acquaintances from the Lotus Immortal Sanctuary should know something about it.”

”Hmm?” Zhang Fei [5] was surprised to hear that. ”If you put it that way, how come my parents-in-law know nothing about the Forbidden Lotus Codex?”

”Huh?” This time, Qing Qiu’er was surprised by his statement. ”Are you really the son-in-law of Luo Fenghan and Huang Xiaoyi? As far as I remember, they don’t have a daughter, so how could you be their son-in-law?”

Zhang Fei [5] nodded and explained it to her. ”They have a daughter, but they never show her to the public. In fact, their daughter is my childhood friend, as she was born in the Three Immortal Realms.”

”I see.” Qing Qiu’er nodded in understanding as she remembered something. ”If I recall correctly, Luo Fenghan and Huang Xiaoyi disappeared for several hundred years in the past, but I don’t know the exact reason. If your story is true, their daughter should have been born around that time.”

”That’s right.” Zhang Fei [5] immediately asked Luo Yunxiao and the other two women to meet him.

Soon, Luo Yunxiao, Yan Jinwu, and Sima Huiqing arrived at the room. They were a little surprised by Qing Qiu’er’s presence there, but they also felt something familiar from her, which came from the black lotuses in their souls.

”Is she the one, husband?” Luo Yunxiao asked, walking behind Zhang Fei [5] with the other two.

”She is indeed Qing Qiu’er, the one who gave me the Forbidden Lotus Codex.” Zhang Fei [5] then asked her. ”Yunxiao, do you know anything about the Ashen Lotus Monastery Ruins?”

Qing Qiu’er looked at Luo Yunxiao in surprise. ”Is she the daughter of Luo Fenghan and Huang Xiaoyi?”

”I am.” Luo Yunxiao then asked. ”Is there a connection between the Ashen Lotus Monastery Ruins and the Forbidden Lotus Codex?”

”She found the Forbidden Lotus Codex in that place.”

Luo Yunxiao looked at Qing Qiu’er, who confirmed it with a nod. ”The Ashen Lotus Monastery Ruins was once our sacred ground in the past, and my ancestors obtained the Lotus Heart Sutra, which became our main technique there. However, a great natural disaster in the past destroyed the place, causing the portal to disappear on its own. Since then, my ancestors have tried to find that place again, but they never succeeded, so they forgot about it. How did you find that place, Senior Qiu’er? Where is the portal located?”

”I don’t know the exact location of the portal.” Qing Qiu’er immediately explained to them. ”Back then, I entered that place by accident, and the portal disappeared as soon as I exited. Just like your ancestors, I’ve been trying to find the portal for decades, but I’ve never managed to find it again. Did your ancestors ever mention a giant Yin-Yang Lotus there? I got the Forbidden Lotus Codex from it, and your husband thinks there might be hidden flaws or negative aspects within it.”

”I’m sure I’ve never heard of the giant Yin-Yang Lotus, but my father might know something about it. Shall I call him over?” After Zhang Fei [5] and Qing Qiu’er agreed, Luo Yunxiao immediately contacted Luo Fenghan, asking her to meet them. ”He’ll be here soon.”

Qing Qiu’er then observed Yan Jinwu. ”What kind of beast are you?”

”Hehe.” Yan Jinwu chuckled and a silhouette of a golden crow appeared behind her. ”You can recognize my identity, right, senior?”

”You are such a lucky man! You even got a golden crow as your woman.” Zhang Fei [5] simply smiled at Qing Qiu’er. ”Do you have other female mythical beasts by your side?”

Zhang Fei [5] nodded at her. ”A fire phoenix, two vermilion birds, three golden foxes, and several others.”

”What a lucky man!” Qing Qiu’er exclaimed while rubbing her forehead, but the bedroom door suddenly opened. She turned to Luo Fenghan, who had just arrived. ”Long time no see, Fenghan.”

Luo Fenghan was momentarily stunned when he saw Qing Qiu’er, but his reaction made Zhang Fei [5] and Luo Yunxiao realize the reason behind Huang Xiaoyi’s dislike of the Moonlit Passion Temple.

Luo Fenghan shook his head slightly before replying to her. ”I didn’t expect you to actually come here to see my son-in-law, Qiu’er.”

”I’ve been waiting for him to ascend to this realm for a long time, but I didn’t expect that he would ascend this quickly, let alone that he is your son-in-law.” Qing Qiu’er then asked him. ”Did your ancestors ever mention the giant Yin-Yang Lotus in the Ashen Lotus Monastery Ruins?”

Luo Fenghan was taken back for a moment. ”Why are you suddenly asking about that place?”

”Father-in-law, she obtained the technique she gave me back then from the giant Yin-Yang lotus at that place.” Zhang Fei [5]’s answer shocked Luo Fenghan. ”We were just discussing that technique earlier, and I felt that there was something hidden within it; otherwise, the creator wouldn’t have used the ’forbidden’ word in front of the technique’s name. Since that place was once the sacred ground of your sect, we wanted to know if your ancestors ever mentioned the lotus.”

Luo Fenghan didn’t expect the Lotus Forbidden Codex to have any connection to their former sacred ground. ”Unfortunately, my ancestors never mentioned anything about the lotus, and the only technique they obtained there was our Lotus Heart Sutra, so I can’t help you with that. But how did you get into that place, Qiu’er? Do you know how to get back in there?”

”The portal disappeared by itself, and it never appeared again, no matter how hard I looked for it.” Qing Qiu’er then asked. ”Did your ancestors leave any descriptions of the areas of that place? When I was stranded in that place, I couldn’t find any room apart from the location of the lotus.”

Luo Fenghan immediately took out a device and activated it, creating a small screen. Shortly after, several images appeared on the screen. ”As you guys can see for yourselves, the Ashen Lotus Monastery Ruins is akin to a domain within a domain. Therefore, I find it strange that you couldn’t find another room, especially since it is truly vast and has so many different areas. Unfortunately, they didn’t leave behind details about those areas, and they only left this much information. However, they say that the place is filled with tranquility and peace, and our Lotus Heart Sutra is proof of that, so I think there should be nothing wrong with your Forbidden Lotus Codex.”

”Did you hear that?” Qing Qiu’er asked Zhang Fei [5].

Zhang Fei [5] nodded at her. ”Even so, I have a feeling there’s something else within that technique, especially the Lotus Limbo World. Therefore, I’m thinking of searching that place and confirming everything, but I’ll do that after we leave the Forgotten Land.”

”How about you try using the last sub-technique with her?” Qing Qiu’er asked, pointing at Luo Yunxiao. ”Your soul strengths are almost equal, and you two already have such a strong bond as husband and wife, so I’m sure you two can open that place and check it directly.”

”No.” Zhang Fei [5] refused with a shake of his head. ”I would never take the risk of bringing my wife into a place with unknown origins, and I would prefer to find the ruins first before bringing anyone there.”

Qing Qiu’er looked at Luo Yunxiao, who shook her head, leaving her helpless. ”Have you ever used the other sub-techniques with them?

”Not yet.” Zhang Fei [5] shook his head in response. ”For the past twenty years, we’ve focused on our cultivation and soul, and I haven’t tried the other sub-techniques with any of them. However, I’ve used the Lotus Soul Pact with my two sword spirits, so I can use the Soul Lotus Spirit Summon to summon them from my sword.”

Zhang Fei [5] immediately summoned the demon extermination sword. Soon, Jian Hei’an and Jian Guang’an appeared in front of them, shocking Qing Qiu’er. ”Twin sword spirits.”
