Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 1122: Searching For The Temple’s Secret

Tian Huangjin, who was leading her race members to look for Zhang Fei [5], immediately stopped as soon as Xuanyuan Zhuanxu appeared in front of them. She immediately cupped her hands at the old man. ”Are you a native of this domain, Senior?”

”What is your purpose in coming to my domain this time?” Xuanyuan Zhuanxu looked at the people behind Tian Huangjin before asking her again. ”Why did you bring so many troops?”

One of the winged race members wanted to speak to Xuanyuan Zhuanxu, but Tian Huangjin quickly stopped him. ”Senior, Liang Huizhong contacted our leaders after he detected the movement of the demon races in this domain, and one of the elders of the Samsara Divine Sect disappeared along with several others around the temple. Therefore, my leader sent us here to investigate the reason behind the presence of those demons, and he also asked us to search for people from that sect.”

”Those people are no longer in this domain, and the demons took them away long ago.” Tian Huangjin and the others looked distrustful of Xuanyuan Zhuanxu. ”It’s up to you whether you want to believe me or not, but I’ve told you the truth. After all, the portal to enter this domain is not only located in the Divine Samsara Sect, but there are several other portals out there, and those demons use one of them to get here. You guys can look for them if you like, but I hope you won’t cause chaos in my domain because of your enmity with those demons. If you do, I won’t hesitate to kill you all, whether they are from your race or those demons.”

”Don’t worry, we only came here to search for those people, and we are not going to war with the demons.” Tian Huangjin then asked him. ”Do you know the whereabouts of the young man with several mythical beasts by his side, Senior?”

Xuanyuan Zhuanxu momentarily raised an eyebrow. ”Do you know that young man?”

”His name is Zhang Fei, and I met him in the Three Mortal Realms years ago.” Xuanyuan Zhuanxu wore a doubtful expression after Tian Huangjin said that, forcing her to create a Qi screen displaying their past meeting in order to convince him. ”We actually wanted to explore this domain together, but the portal sent us to different locations. I sensed his presence in this area earlier, but he disappeared so quickly, and I lost track of him.”

Xuanyuan Zhuanxu nodded in understanding and pointed towards the temple. ”They’re in the Temple of Forgotten Flame now, but you won’t be able to get close there because the Eternal Flame has returned, and it’s created a barrier to prevent people from disturbing it.”

”Huh?” Tian Huangjin and her race members were shocked when they heard that, and a young male winged race member immediately asked Xuanyuan Zhuanxu. ”Has the Eternal Flame really returned to this domain, Senior? When did the flame return?”

”Today.” Xuanyuan Zhuanxu looked away. ”I have other business, so I’ll be leaving now.”

”Wait—” The young male winged race member sighed in disappointment as Xuanyuan Zhuanxu hastily disappeared. ”Hey, Huangjin, who exactly is Zhang Fei? Why are you so eager to meet him?”

”Is he your lover, Huangjin?” a young female winged race member asked Tian Huangjin separately. Her question caused the other female members to tease her too.

Tian Huangjin shook her head at them. ”Zhang Fei and I are old friends, and he helped me hunt down Xereth in the past. In fact, that demon had fallen into his hands, and he sent him to the Star Tower. Since he’s in the temple, we should go there to meet him. However, I warn you not to speak carelessly in front of him, especially since there are many cultivators stronger than us by his side now.”

”Let’s go.”

Tianshi Shengjie, who was leading the beast race against some demons, raised an eyebrow when she felt someone’s gaze on her. She decided to use her full strength and kill those demons. She then looked up at the sky. ”Senior, I know you’re hiding up there, so I hope you’ll come out and meet me. My name is Tianshi Shengjie, the princess of the Celestial Dragon Race.”

Xuanyuan Shun decided to meet them. ”I didn’t expect the Celestial Dragon Race to send their princess to my domain to hunt these demons.”

”You’re wrong about that, Senior.” Tianshi Shengjie explained the reason for their arrival in the Forbidden Land to him. ”Do you have any information about them, Senior?”

Xuanyuan Shun nodded slightly. ”There are several portals to enter this domain, and one of them is in the Ten Hells Monarch Domain. The demons used that portal to enter here, and they took those people away through it as well.”

”So, those people have fallen into the hands of those demons, senior?” A young man with a tall, bulky, and muscular body asked. His appearance was quite intimidating to most people, but it wasn’t enough to intimidate an old monster like Xuanyuan Shun.

”The Faceless Demon Race, to be precise.” Tianshi Shengjie and the others frowned after Xuanyuan Shun mentioned the demon race. ”As I recall, the demon race possesses extraordinary disguise abilities, and only a few people can see through their disguises, one of whom is Long Wuzhao. If my guess is correct, they intend to use those people to infiltrate important locations, so you should inform your emperor of this matter.”

Tianshi Shengjie turned to the young male dragon. ”Long Youjia, use your void abilities to send a message to my godfather, and tell him to directly inform our emperor about this matter.”

”Alright.” Long Youjia immediately took out a device, whispered something in it, and sent it into the void. ”The message will reach my father in a few hours.”

”That’s good.” Tianshi Shengjie then asked Xuanyuan Shun. ”Senior, do you know the location of the group of a young man with several mythical beasts by his side? We were supposed to explore this domain together, but the portal separated us randomly.”

”They went to the temple.” Xuanyuan Shun immediately warned them. ”The Eternal Flame has returned, and it has created a barrier there to prevent people from approaching. If you want to go there, I warn you not to look for trouble with it; otherwise, it will attack and roast you alive.”

”When did the Eternal Flame return?”

”Today, and that young man seems to know the Eternal Flame.” Even though she was quite familiar with Zhang Fei, Tianshi Shengjie was still surprised by it. ”Remember, don’t disturb the flame.”

After the old man disappeared, Long Youjia turned to Tianshi Shengjie and asked her a question. ”Is Zhang Fei really that great, Shengjie? I heard from my father that our emperor praised him to the skies, and he looked forward to their meeting.”

”Whether Zhang Fei is great or not depends on your judgment, so you can wait until we meet him, and then you can judge him for yourself.” Tianshi Shengjie immediately flew towards the temple, followed by the other dragon races.

”Hmm?” Long Youjia thought about something for some time before catching up with them.

In other areas, the leaders of the nine demon races looked furious, especially after receiving reports of many of their members dying in the temple area. Some of them decided to investigate the area themselves.

In another area, members of the fairy race were busy fighting demons as they moved toward Zhang Fei [5]’s previous location. Not only the fairy race, but another group also moved toward Zhang Fei [5]’s previous location. This group was from the Jiao Clan, which had been targeting him for the past few days.

All groups of cultivators from the Empyrean Main Domain also tried to search for Zhang Fei [5]’s whereabouts while fighting the demons that blocked their way. The sect masters of the domain quickly led their members to look for him, but all his acquaintances who joined those sects decided to keep quiet.

”Why are you so intently observing this ruined statue, husband?”

Zhang Fei [5] turned to Luo Yunxiao and showed her the two map fragments. ”Mengying and I obtained them both at the Star and Sun Towers, and this map points to this temple. I’ve been searching for a while, but I haven’t found anything unusual in this place.”

”Have you asked them?” Luo Yunxiao turned to Feng Yao and Huo Ling, who looked so intimate on the altar.

Zhang Fei [5] nodded at her. ”I asked them a long time ago, but they repeatedly said they never found anything here.”

”I see.” Luo Yunxiao nodded in understanding. ”Since you’ve searched every corner of this floor, I thought we could try searching upstairs, and I’ll help you look for it.”

”Let’s go.”

When they arrived beside the altar, Huo Ling spoke to them. ”Hey! This temple is my home, so I know the whole area. I told you there’s nothing mysterious here, so you can stop looking for it.”

”Don’t mind us and enjoy your time.” Zhang Fei [5] hurriedly led Luo Yunxiao upstairs.

Huo Ling shook her head. ”He’s too stubborn, Master.”

”Just let him be, Ling’er.” Feng Yao looked at her seriously. ”Ling’er, I think you can use your flame fragment to reactivate this altar, and—”

”I said no!” Huo Ling snapped at Feng Yao, but she then hugged her. ”I already said I’ll accompany you until the time comes, so please don’t force me, okay?”
