Zhang Fei - The Abandoned Son

Chapter 1121: The Forbidden Land’s Natives

”Patriarch Fengyi! Something urgent happened!”

In the main ancient city of the Forbidden Land, a tall, thin young man shouted as he ran into a house made of the same material as the Temple of Forgotten Flame.

Inside the house, an old man with shoulder-length, deep red hair was observing every area of the Forbidden Land through several crystal balls floating in front of him. ”What makes you so hasty like this, Xuanyuan Leizu?”

”Patriarch, something happened in the temple! You will be shocked after checking it out!” Xuanyuan Leizu answered breathlessly.

Xuanyuan Fenglei waved his hand directly, and the display in one of the crystal balls changed to the area in the temple. His expression changed as soon as he saw the deep red flame sphere that enveloped the area. ”Could this really be happening?”

”Right? The deep red flame sphere should belong to the Eternal Flame, Patriarch! I’m sure the flame has returned there!” Xuanyuan Leizu shouted with excitement. ”We previously saw hundreds of deep red flames shoot out from that area and incinerate all the demons that were roaming around there. After we saw that, I rushed back here to inform you. Brother Tong and Sister Yushi were waiting there, but no one could enter the sphere.”

”Yes.” Xuanyuan Fenglei nodded slightly. ”Only the Eternal Flame could create that deep red flame sphere. Since the sphere covered that area of the temple, it indicates that the flame has returned.”

Xuanyuan Leizu then asked. ”What should we do now, Patriarch? I’m sure the other demons will flock to the temple soon, especially since the Eternal Flame killed hundreds of them in two attacks.”

”We don’t need to worry about those demons.” Xuanyuan Fenglei then faced him. ”The cultivators of this era called the flame the Eternal Flame, but they were mistaken. The Eternal Flame’s true identity was the Primordial Flame, and it had existed since the Primordial Era. Even if ten demon gods came here to harass it, they would never be its match, and it would incinerate them like their subordinates.”

As a native of the Forbidden Land, Xuanyuan Leizu naturally knew about it long ago. ”Are we going to welcome the return of the Primordial Flame, Patriarch? Our ancestors always waited for it to return until the end of their lives, but it disappeared for several million years, which caused us and this domain to suffer for so long. However, it has returned to our domain, and this domain will awaken soon with its return.”

”Of course, we will welcome the return of the Primordial Fire, but not now.” Xuanyuan Fenglei pulled the crystal before him. ”The flame has formed the sphere, indicating its aversion to disturbance. We will prepare a ceremony to welcome its return, and we will beg it to reactivate the altar, which will awaken our domain. Once our domain is awakened, our race, which has been in decline for millions of years, will also awaken and regain our true strength at that time.”

”Do I need to inform the elders now?”

Xuayuan Fenglei nodded at him. ”Go and tell them that the Primordial Flame has returned to our domain, but you must tell them that I forbid them from approaching the temple area. Otherwise, they will die if the flame feels disturbed by them. Also, order Xuanyuan Tong and Xuanyuan Yushi to return.”

”Yes, Patriarch!” Xuanyuan Leizu immediately left the house as he contacted the two people, relaying their patriarch’s order to them.

Xuayuan Fenglei let out a soft breath before going to the side of one of the walls, which immediately opened itself, revealing stairs descending downwards. He quickly descended the stairs until he reached a room with a portal in the center, and then he vanished from that location after activating the portal.

A while later, Xuayuan Fenglei had arrived on top of a mountain filled with tall, dense trees. As he stepped closer, the trees moved aside by themselves, revealing a fairly wide path with a cave at the end .

Xuayuan Fenglei hurriedly entered the cave, the interior of which was spacious enough to accommodate hundreds, if not thousands, of people. Inside, three old men and three old women sat motionlessly, seemingly in deep meditation.

”What brings you here, Fenglei? Are those demons starting to attack our cities?” One of the old men asked without opening his eyes.

”Ancestor Zhuanxu, I didn’t come here because of those demons. Many of them are powerful indeed, but none of them can break through the ancient barriers that protect all our cities.” Xuayuan Fenglei immediately took out the crystal balls. ”Ancestors, please open your eyes and look at this; I believe you will all be overjoyed after seeing this information.”

Hearing that, Xuanyuan Zhuanxu and the others stopped their cultivation before opening their eyes. Their expressions changed as soon as they saw the deep red flame sphere in the crystal ball, and they immediately realized that the Primordial Flame had returned to their domain. ”Brothers and sisters, it appears that our millions of years of waiting since the era of our ancestors has finally come to an end today.”

”That’s true.” The others nodded in agreement with Xuanyuan Zhuanxu, while one of the old women directed a question to Xuanyuan Fenglei. ”When did the Primordial Flame return to our domain?”

Xuanyuan Fenglei answered the old woman directly. ”The portal opened not long ago, so the Primordial Flame only returned today, Ancestor Changyi. Previously, those demons invaded the temple, and they plundered the remaining materials there. But the Primordial Flame appeared out of nowhere, incinerated them, and then created the flame sphere.”

”I see.” Xuanyuan Changyi then asked the others. ”Shall we go there and meet the Primordial Flame?”

”No.” Another old woman rejected Xuanyuan Changyi’s idea immediately. ”The Primordial Flame deliberately created the flame sphere because it didn’t want to be disturbed by anyone, so we have to wait for the sphere to disappear first. Moreover, it’s been missing for millions of years, and it’s probably missing its home.”

”I agree with Wuyue.” the third old woman spoke. ”I can’t wait to meet the Primordial Flame and beg it to reactivate the altar, but we have to give the flame a chance to vent its longing for its home. Have you ordered our people to prepare a ceremony to welcome the return of the flame, Fenglei?”

Xuanyuan Fenglei nodded to them. ”Mother Qian, I have ordered our people to prepare everything, and we will carry out the ceremony once the flame sphere disappears.”

Xuanyuan Qian nodded in satisfaction hearing that. ”Do you have any other information for us?”

”Yes, mother.” Xuanyuan Fenglei then explained some information to them, which surprised them a bit.

”The appearance of a golden crow, three fire phoenixes, six ice phoenixes, and some other mythical beasts in our domain is truly unusual.” an old man spoke in astonishment. ”Do you think something’s going on?”

”Ancestor Hao, apart from those mythical beasts, natural races and winged races also came to our domain, and their numbers are quite large.” Xuanyuan Hao appeared surprised after hearing Xuanyuan Fenglei’s statement. ”As for the golden crow, three fire phoenixes, and six ice phoenixes, they came in a group with an unusual young man.”

”An unusual young man?”

Xuanyuan Fenglei immediately displayed Zhang Fei [5]’s image in the crystal ball, especially when he summoned the two female sword spirits to kill the demons before. ”Even though I haven’t met him in person, I can guess that he is still young, around his early forties. However, his swordsmanship is truly exceptional, especially his sword domain. He can even summon twin female sword spirits, and their abilities complement his sword domain.”

All of them intently watched the movements of the two female sword spirits. Even though the two women attacked the demons so quickly, they were still able to follow their movements. The third old man then asked. ”Where is the young man now? He may be young, but his swordsmanship should have already reached the god rank.”

”Ancestor Shun, the young man seems to be in the Temple of the Forgotten Flame now.” Xuanyuan Shun and others were slightly surprised to hear Xuanyuan Fenglei’s answer. ”Xuanyuan Tong just informed me that the Primordial Flame came out of the body of one of the female fire phoenixes, and she is a member of his entourage.”

Xuanhuan Shun spoke immediately. ”Go back first and keep monitoring the situation at the temple. You must inform us once the flame sphere disappears, and we will go to the temple to meet the Primordial Flame afterwards.”

”Yes, Ancestors. I will go now and monitor the temple.” After Xuanyuan Fenglei left, Xuanyuan Shun and the others discussed their next plans, and they eventually decided to leave their seclusion.

Xuanyuan Zhuanxu led them out of the cave. ”Changyi, Wuyue, and Qian, I want the three of you to closely monitor the movements of those demons.”

”Yes.”

Xuanyuan Zhuanxu then spoke to one of the two old men. ”Hao, I want you to keep an eye on the natural races, especially the fairy race. The last time they came here, I heard a rumor that the Fairy King had ties to demons, so I want you to confirm the truth of that rumor.”

”Alright.”

”What about me, brother?” Xuanyuan Shun asked.

”Go to those mythical beast races and monitor them.” Xuanyuan Shun nodded in agreement to Xuanyuan Zhuanxu. ”I will go to meet the leader of the winged race to find out their intentions in coming to our domain.”
