The Deadly Hitwoman: The Heiress's Special Abilities

Chapter 388: Chapter 388: Battle for the Throne (Part 1)

General Han is an old general who survived the coup years ago and still holds military power. Regardless of his wisdom, he has a keen eye.

Initially, he intended to align with the Crown Prince, but he never put effort into the Crown Prince himself. Instead, he maintained the relationship subtly through Su Xingyan, never making his stance clear.

Now, his daughter has openly turned against Su Xingyan, disrupting the Crown Prince’s plans. At this moment, if he wants to lean toward the Crown Prince, even if the Crown Prince temporarily trusts him, it doesn’t mean the Han Family will fare well after the Crown Prince ascends to the throne.

So, instead of waiting for the Crown Prince to settle scores with him later, it’s better to simply stand with the Fourth Prince. General Han had witnessed the Eldest Princess’s decisiveness during the previous battle for the throne. The Emperor is kind-hearted and soft, but the Eldest Princess is firm. However, she has always stayed out of politics, leading many to think she was just a paper tiger.

But now the situation is different. The Crown Prince has obviously been wary of Prince Yu for a long time and is displeased with the Emperor’s fondness for the Eldest Princess. After he ascends to the throne, he surely won’t let the Eldest Princess and Prince Yu have an easy time. Not to mention, the most crucial point is that after the Crown Prince ascends, the first he won’t spare is the Fourth Prince, who holds military power.

At this time, the Fourth Prince has no choice at all. If he doesn’t fight, the years of his efforts will be completely ruined. Even if he chooses not to fight, his close followers in the Northern Land won’t allow him to stand down. Moreover, with Prince Yu and the Eldest Princess in the capital, supporting the Fourth Prince is more beneficial than waiting for the Crown Prince to ascend.

Although supporting the Fourth Prince is a gamble, the benefits outweigh the negatives. The Han Family is known for its loyalty and heroism, so as the head of the family, he naturally has to choose the side more favorable for the family.

Moreover, he is certain that once the Fourth Prince has thoughts of seizing the throne, the Eldest Princess will undoubtedly come to him.

Sure enough, the Eldest Princess came on the day of Princess Consort Yu’s return, indicating the urgency of the matter.

Su Yaogeng, having dealt with General Han before, knows he is a sensible person. She explained her intentions and purpose concisely.

General Han, shocked after hearing her words, said: ”Prince An is so blatantly... Please rest assured, Eldest Princess, I will send a message to my son immediately, telling him to quietly take the troops ahead so that once there are changes in the capital, we hope to catch up. However, if the Crown Prince and Prince An are already prepared to act, it might be a bit late. Just in case, Eldest Princess should ask Duke Wei to quickly send people to the west, which will be slightly faster.”

Su Yaogeng nodded: ”I will do my best. In any case, we cannot afford to lose this war. If we lose... I’m afraid blood will flow like rivers across the court and the capital.”

”Time waits for no one, I will make preparations right away. On the Emperor’s side, Eldest Princess could... In this way, it is justified.” General Han knows that the Emperor has always trusted the Eldest Princess. If she persuades him to establish the Fourth Prince as the Crown Prince, then even if the Fourth Prince confronts the Crown Prince, it would be justified.

”I will enter the palace to discuss with my brother as soon as possible. I’ll trouble General Han to prepare first.” Given the previous assassination attempt, persuading the Emperor will not be difficult.
