The Deadly Hitwoman: The Heiress's Special Abilities

Chapter 386: Chapter 386: The Crown Prince’s Handiwork

Even though Han Jing had tried to downplay the situation as much as possible and repeatedly assured that she was unharmed, Su Yaogeng turned pale just from listening.

”Unbelievable! Absolutely unbelievable!” Su Yaogeng was utterly stunned by anger; initially, she considered that Prince An was also defending the country despite having few heirs, and although she was enraged over He Yanxin’s attempt on Han Jing in the street that day, she hadn’t actually done anything yet. Otherwise, given her temperament, she would have sent people to Prince An’s Mansion to demand an explanation immediately.

She truly couldn’t fathom it; at the time, Jing’er hadn’t even been betrothed to Su Yu, and no one was aware of it. To what shameless extent did she go to have someone kidnap Jing’er? She liked Su Yu, so why involve Jing’er? It was simply outrageous!

She couldn’t even imagine what danger Han Jing, a pregnant woman, would have faced in that situation if Su Xingqiao hadn’t been there!

”Jing’er, you needn’t say anything more. I will never allow the Crown Prince to ascend the throne. Tomorrow, I’ll enter the palace to speak with Brother. Originally, I didn’t want to get involved in this matter, as it might put Brother in a difficult position, but now things have reached this stage, even if I don’t intervene, the other side will probably not rest. Rather than waiting for our demise, it’s better to take the initiative.” Han Jing did not understand much of the court affairs, and Su Yu didn’t deal with them, but Su Yaogeng was far clearer about them than anyone else.

The reason why Brother summoned Su Xingqiao back to the capital at this time was because he was already wavering in his decision about appointing the heir. Previously, it was rightful and logical for the Crown Prince to ascend to the throne, but, as the saying goes, ”Only a father understands his son,” Brother is well aware of the Crown Prince’s character. Should he ascend, the court will be plunged into a brutal and bloody upheaval.

Brother has always been benevolent, treating the ministers, the people, and several Princes with genuine care and concern. That’s why he’s hesitant, wanting to protect everyone, but this is not an easy task.

Su Yaogeng sighed, ”Actually, Brother knows well what kind of **** it would bring to Nanyao Country if the Crown Prince ascends, but he just cannot make up his mind for the moment.”

”The assassination attempt on the way back to the capital from the autumn hunt was orchestrated by the Crown Prince.” At that moment, the until-now silent Su Yu suddenly spoke up.

Everyone couldn’t help but widen their eyes and stare at Su Yu.

Su Yaogeng couldn’t help but ask, ”What did you say? The Crown Prince did it? Why?”

Even Han Jing was puzzled, ”How do you know that?”

Su Yu indeed had no interest in court affairs, but that didn’t mean he was unaware of everything. He was just always aware but pretended not to know.

Given that he had enterprises in the capital, he had connections. Things that others couldn’t find out, didn’t mean he couldn’t.

He had heard that Han Jing was ambushed midway, so he casually asked someone to look into it and traced it back to the Crown Prince.

Logically, this matter should have been reported to Brother. However, at that time, the Crown Prince did not have a conflict of interest with him, and moreover, perhaps the Crown Prince’s true goal wasn’t to assassinate the Emperor. With Su Yaogeng there, the assassins hired by the Crown Prince couldn’t harm the Emperor at all.

Given this, why the assassination was linked to the Crown Prince was something Su Yu really wasn’t interested in knowing; in any case, it was just about fighting for inheritance.
