Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1550: Chapter 1551: Haunted by Something Unclean?

No matter whether it’s Father Qi or Old Master Cheng, both have traveled long distances to attend the wedding banquet. Especially Old Master Cheng, at his age, coming such a long way by train makes Cheng Su both happy and worried. After playing with Xiao Qi, she personally escorts them to the guesthouse to rest, saying they should come over when the feast begins.

Old Master Cheng does not refuse; he is indeed not as energetic due to his age.

As for Father Qi, Cheng Su had asked, but they are used to working long hours in the fields and do not feel tired. On such a happy day, they prefer sitting together and chatting.

So Cheng Su only leads Old Master Cheng and his group over.

On the way out, she encounters Sister-in-law Song poking her head around. Cheng Su frowns but says nothing, while Sister-in-law Song, without seeming to mind, sizes up the impressive Cheng Yaozu and his group.

Cheng Su personally escorts Old Master Cheng to the guesthouse. Once she leaves, the family starts chatting.

”Before, I knew she had someone well-off as a godparent, but I didn’t expect them to be so generous. Wow, a whole shop!” Mother Cheng clicks her tongue, feeling like she’s been hit by a lottery win; it all seems unreal.

Mother Qi says, ”It’s because our Xiao Qi is so bright and clever!”

Mother Cheng, unwilling to give up, says, ”It’s also her mother’s good fortune to have such a godparent! Without Cheng Su, no matter how clever, could she receive such a gift?”

Mother Qi, of course, knows that on such a good day, it’s not worth arguing with Mother Cheng, especially in front of her sister-in-law. So she smiles and says, ”You’re right, the daughter-in-law is indeed fortunate!”

Indeed, Mother Cheng puffs her chest proudly.

Mother Qi can’t be bothered with her and only looks at the elderly man holding Qi Xiaoqi, eagerly saying, ”Let me hold him!”

”He’ll cry if you hold him!” Father Qi says impatiently.

”That’s because earlier we weren’t acquainted, and the aura hadn’t aligned yet!” Mother Qi insists.

The aura hadn’t aligned; Qi Fengping and Qi Jianguo, upon hearing this, can hardly contain their laughter. Does she even know about aura!

Mother Qi, refusing to believe in superstitions, carefully lifts Qi Xiaoqi like he’s made of gold. This time, Qi Xiaoqi doesn’t cry, instead curiously looking at her. Mother Qi feels proud and says, ”See, he’s not crying...”

Wah!

The piercing cry echoes through the roof.

A minute later, seeing the grandson bawling for a full minute, his face turning red, Mother Qi finally admits defeat and lets Mother Cheng take the child.

Mother Cheng, watching Qi Xiaoqi’s pitiful sobs, feels heartbroken. She wonders what’s wrong with the groom’s mother; as soon as Xiao Qi sees her, he cries.

Mother Qi feels like crying too; she’s never felt so wronged in her life!

”This little rascal, he’s born to torment me!” Mother Qi’s eyes turn red.

Sister-in-law Song, with her two sons, arrives at Cheng Su’s household, having already had some snacks, hears this and their earlier conversation, and says: ”They say children’s eyes are pure; maybe they see something adults can’t. Could it be that Xiao Qi saw something scary?”

As soon as she says this, the faces of everyone in the room change, with their eyes collectively turning to Mother Qi.

Everyone present is from the countryside and quite superstitious. After hearing what Sister-in-law Song said, how could they not understand? This implies there’s something unclean about Mother Qi, which is why the child cries!

Mother Qi feels a chill down her spine, goosebumps rise, and she turns pale, exclaiming, ”Nonsense!”

Yet she feels uneasy all over, her mind instantly flashing back to that scene after the car accident, the tragic appearance of the old lady, and the oddities at the hospital.

Could it be that the person has been haunting her this whole time?
