Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1540: Chapter 1541: Targeting the Economic Magnate

Ning Gang’s assertiveness and confidence are not just for show. If anyone wants to challenge the Ning Family, they’d better weigh whether they can or if they can bear the consequences.

The Ning brothers hold positions in both civil and military spheres. Personal matters aside, they have an extensive network that stretches wide and deep. Any disturbance could affect everything.

That’s why Ning Gang dares to speak like this, because the family’s foundation is solid.

”It’s precisely because of this that we need to remain low-key. The higher we stand, the more cautious we must be,” Ning Ge said with a smile. ”I think things are good now; doing business is still convenient for me.”

”Do you still want to be an undercover agent? If you’re really into it, you can go to work at National Security,” Ning Gang said.

Ning Ge shook his head and said, ”No, I’ve decided to quit and focus on business.”

Ning Gang and the others were stunned, even the silent Old Master Ning looked at his youngest son.

Seeing their surprised faces, Ning Ge chuckled and said, ”When I initially joined this department, it was out of youthful impulsiveness and high spirits. Now, it’s been several years, and I’ve found it rather meaningless. I’m not even participating in some missions now.”

”Is it because of my influence?” Ning Gang furrowed his eyebrows and asked.

Ning Ge shrugged, ”I don’t know, maybe it’s to avoid suspicion. Now that big brother, you have a prominent position, there’s even less reason for me to stay. After thinking it over, business seems to be the best option.”

”Still working on that small company with Xiao Cheng?” Old Master Ning asked.

”That’s just a small business. I think information development and real estate are promising. The Cheng family has ventured into real estate, and I want to be a part of that,” Ning Ge replied.

This was also when Cheng Yaozu invited him to join them, whether because of the Ning family’s connections or for other reasons; it was a considerate move.

”There’s Big Brother, Second Brother, and Third Sister in the army; my path in business might yet have potential!” Ning Ge looked at the silent group and added, ”Historically, officials and entrepreneurs have been inseparable. If I do well, I might influence the economy; who will rely on whom is still uncertain!”

Old Master Ning’s body shivered slightly, and he straightened up a bit.

What the youngest son said had some truth. Now is the time to focus on the economy. There’s a saying, ’Military strength leads to national strength,’ but that requires money. When a nation’s economy rises, what can’t be achieved? And if one becomes a big player whose every move shakes the market, that’s not bad either.

Ning Gang and the others were no fools; they thought along these lines and asked, ”Have you thought it through? Are you decided?”

Ning Ge nodded and said with a smile, ”Just wait for your little brother’s filial devotion in the future; there’ll be good things to pay respects to you!”

They were amused, and Ning Gang rolled his eyes at him, ”If you truly offer respects, I fear it’ll invite the inspectors!”

Ning Ge shrugged indifferently, bowed slightly, and said, ”Just hope for your care in the future, big brothers!”

”Enough, stop babbling,” Ning Gang said irritably, looking at the old man. ”Dad, what do you think?”

Old Master Ning stroked his beard and said, ”I’m old, and I won’t interfere. You brothers can discuss it among yourselves!” He paused and added, ”I’m just hoping for a little child to keep me company and amuse me, whether grandson or great-grandson.”

Upon hearing this, Ning Li immediately turned to Ning Ge, ”Did you hear that? You’re already thirty; how much longer do you want to wait? That Miss Song your sister mentioned seems fine to me. The Song family is well-matched with us.”

Ning Ge saw the conversation turning to his personal affairs and said, ”Brother, I know what I’m doing.” He added, ”It’s nothing; I’ll be off. I’m meeting Zhou Jun to discuss business!”

The Ning Gang group noticed his impatience and waved him away. Ning Ge immediately ran off.
