Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1537: Chapter 1538: Good News

After Qi Taiguo came back the next day, Cheng Su told him about the request from her aunt and the others to come over and visit.

”My aunt is still her usual old self, treating everyone like they owe her something. But what surprised me was that Weiqiu seems to have grown up a bit and knows how to tone herself down!” Cheng Su said.

Qi Taiguo pondered slightly and then said, ”I reckon Weiqiu is scared.”

”Hmm?” Cheng Su didn’t understand.

”Previously, when Weixia left, all the Deng family matters fell on her. She hasn’t been able to even talk about marriage in these two years. Can she not be afraid? Now that Weixia is back, she definitely wants to plan for herself!” Qi Taiguo sighed.

Cheng Su suddenly understood and laughed: ”If she can see reality clearly and compromise, then it’s not helpless. What’s scary is someone like her mom, still unable to see the situation and reality, still wanting to put on airs, not realizing how cruel reality can sometimes be.”

”So, what do you think about her job? And about finding her a partner? Speaking of jobs, there are plenty of opportunities now; I’m just afraid she’ll be picky and not willing to work. But finding a partner isn’t easy to fake, as it concerns a lifetime matter.” Cheng Su added, finding a job is easier to deal with, just find some place to put her. But when it comes to a partner, if not done properly, it could lead to a lifetime of resentment!

Qi Taiguo said, ”I’ll arrange the job. It just so happens that our unit’s canteen needs helpers; let’s see if she’s willing to go, though it’s not something prestigious, washing and chopping are definitely required.”

Cheng Su’s eyes twinkled and said, ”I think it’s not bad, it’s within the army, ultimately an affair of Grandpa’s, and it includes meals. If she’s lucky, maybe she could hit it off with a soldier!”

Qi Taiguo laughed after hearing this: ”How did you come up with this idea, hitting two birds with one stone?”

”You know you have a lot of bachelors around, and Deng Weiqiu is somewhat good-looking. If she doesn’t act up, she’s not bad-looking. As long as her standards aren’t too high, is there any worry she can’t get married?” Cheng Su chuckled and said.

Qi Taiguo thought about it and agreed with her to an extent; now that Weixia is back, the burden on Deng Weiqiu’s shoulders has lessened. If she can really lower her standards, she’s indeed not impossible to marry off.

”I’ll talk to Aunt about it later.”

Cheng Su nodded in agreement.

”By the way, there’s some good news I haven’t shared with you yet.” Qi Taiguo said brightly.

”What is it?”

”Ning Ge’s brother got promoted to General.” Qi Taiguo said.

Cheng Su was momentarily confused before she understood and said, ”You mean Ning Gang has been promoted to a big officer?”

Qi Taiguo laughed: ”What big officer, just a full General in the Military Commission.”

”Wow, a General is also a big officer, right? If that’s not a big officer, then what is?” Cheng Su said.

”Well, if you put it that way, then he is a big officer.” Qi Taiguo laughed.

”That’s really good news!” Cheng Su was quite pleased too.

The Ning Family was well acquainted with her, especially Ning Ge, with whom she had a solid friendship. Now that Ning Ge’s own brother has risen to power, it’s naturally good news for those of them who share this friendship.

After being happy for a while, Cheng Su said, ”Now that Ning Gang has been promoted, do you think he’ll give you a leg up?”

”Why? Not satisfied with being the Wife of the Deputy Battalion Commander?” Qi Taiguo raised an eyebrow teasingly.

Cheng Su retorted, ”What does satisfaction have to do with it? If there’s a chance for promotion, it would be great, but I know too that the higher up you go, the more careful you need to be. Still, everyone wants to aim high.”

She spoke cryptically, and Qi Taiguo burst out laughing, then seriously said, ”Whether he’ll give me a lift is uncertain, but since we have this relationship, things will definitely be a bit more convenient in the future. Even if General Ning wants to raise me up, I’ll have to have the ability to handle it. Don’t worry; I won’t let you down.”

Cheng Su grinned and nodded, thinking she should definitely extend her congratulations to Ning Ge.
