Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1539: Chapter 1540: The Ning Family’s Confidence

After finishing the meal, Ning Ge followed the two brothers and Old Master Ning into the study to talk. The topic was inevitably about Ning Gang’s ascension, while the old master of the Ning Family acted like a hands-off manager, just listening and rarely voicing his opinions.

He was gradually getting older. His sons were in their prime or middle age, and they ought to have the foresight and wit they needed. He couldn’t guide them in everything; they needed to help and guide each other. That way, when he passed away, they wouldn’t be in a complete mess.

Isn’t there a saying that you can’t separate father and son when going into battle, and you can’t separate brothers when fighting a tiger?

Looking at the brothers now, each appeared astute and worldly. Old Master Ning stroked his grayish-white beard, feeling very satisfied.

This was the foundation of the Ning Family.

”...Dad, do you have any advice for us brothers?” Ning Gang noticed his father had not expressed any opinion and quickly asked.

”There’s nothing, just a saying: be in the right position and do the right thing, never forget your original intention, and be loyal to your family and country,” Old Master Ning said with a light smile.

Ning Gang exchanged a glance with his second brother and said, ”Even if you didn’t say it, we would still do it!”

The brothers talked a lot about future plans and the direction of the Ning Family.

”... Big brother’s matter is settled now, so Old Fourth, your matter should be brought up too. Trading isn’t bad, but it’s better to find a position to fit in. Big Brother, what do you say?” Ning Li looked at the eldest brother.

Ning Gang nodded, ”Your second brother is right, that’s how it should be.”

Ning Ge, already prepared, said, ”Big Brother, I still don’t want to go anywhere. I feel that things are good as they are now!”

Ning Gang’s face darkened and he was about to lose his temper when Old Master Ning shook his head. He had to hold back, saying, ”Tell us what you think!”

”It’s the same old story, Big Brother, you’ve become a general, in the military, Second Brother is in civil service, and Third Sister is a military doctor. As for Ning Le, she’s in the army now, holding a deputy company position, and with you around, her future achievements surely won’t be far off. As for Ning Bei from Second Brother’s family, I needn’t say more, she’s into arts. Who knows if she’ll come back for her career? Didn’t you say she’s dating a foreign guy?” Ning Ge remarked.

Ning Li said irritably, ”What foreign guy, he’s French, not from an island country.”

Referring to foreigners as someone with bowlegged, island country kids—if his daughter dared date such a person, he’d beat her up.

”Yes, yes, my bad mouth!” Ning Ge patted his mouth and said, ”It’s a French devil. I figure she will definitely settle in France in the future.”

”Stop getting sidetracked!” Ning Gang reminded him.

Ning Ge said, ”The Ning Family is already rich and prominent, and there’s nothing wrong with that. A strong family is the result of our abilities, but in this world, there’s always someone envious. If I were to seek a position in the military or another department, our family would truly be the envy of many!”

Ning Gang’s eyebrows furrowed slightly.

”If I truly stood out, in ancient times, our Ning Family would attract the emperor’s attention! Every family has its unreliable and untalented descendants; that’s the enduring way,” Ning Ge calmly said, ”Although the Qing Dynasty has long perished and it’s no longer ancient times, I always feel that it’s better not to attract too much attention and keep a low profile, lest you invite envy!”

After he finished speaking, Ning Gang and Ning Li fell silent for a long time before saying, ”There are laws in a country, and you can’t mess around. Our family’s status, anyone wanting to mess or play tricks should first think twice!”

Ning Gang’s words were assertive and full of authority, which was also the Ning Family’s confidence.
