Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1534: Chapter 1535: Aunt’s Family Comes to the City

Cheng Su and Qi Fenglian chatted about some major life events, then left the fast food restaurant and headed to Joy Soon Loy Restaurant.

The full month banquet for her Xiao Qi is just a few days away, so she had to ask about it, though it was just out of formality. The restaurant’s operation model is now mature. Not only is there a chef pastry department and the floor management but even a logistics department has been established.

Thus, there’s nothing inappropriate with the full month banquet. Cheng Su checked the restaurant’s management matters, including finance, and fortunately, everything was smooth; the business was flourishing, and Cheng Su had nothing more to wish for than this smoothness.

After spending half the day at the restaurant, thinking of having Xiao Qi at home, Cheng Su felt an urge to return and bought some things before heading back.

Becoming a mother really makes a difference; even half a day away makes her miss her son intensely.

Upon returning home, she heard a commotion at the door. Entering, she saw Liu Wenjing and her family had come; not only the three of them but also her current mother-in-law — Auntie and sister-in-law.

Seeing Auntie and them, Cheng Su paused for a moment, then smiled and greeted, ”Auntie is here.”

Liu Wenjing stood up cautiously and said, ”Mom and Weiqiu moved here two days ago. They rested for two days, then came here to visit.”

Auntie, seeing her daughter-in-law’s timid and careful demeanor, couldn’t help but look down on her a thousand times, but she held back here, needing Weixia and this woman!

”When you got married, Weichun was no longer around, so I didn’t attend your wedding. I’ve never visited your little family. Now that we can’t go back to the old home, we’ve moved to Qing City, all family relatives, and it’s necessary to visit.” Even without acting out, Auntie spoke sternly.

Upon mentioning her late husband, Liu Wenjing pursed her lips and lowered her head, holding her son close.

Cheng Su felt awkward too; why bring up unpleasant pasts? Was the goal to make everyone uncomfortable?

”As it should be.” Cheng Su smiled and said, ”Now that Auntie is in Qing City, is everything settled with Weiqiu? Any difficulties in adjusting?”

Deng Weiqiu glanced at her and then turned her eyes away, her lips slightly moving.

”She’s not fortunate enough; the family is in such a mess, there’s no face to negotiate a good marriage for her, right?” Auntie sighed and silently glared at Liu Wenjing, then said to Cheng Su, ”It’s because we couldn’t live back home, otherwise why leave a bright house to squeeze into a small place?”

This indirect criticism made Liu Wenjing lower her head even more; if it weren’t at Cheng Su’s Household, she might have already cried.

Seeing Auntie’s straightforward jabs, Cheng Su thought Liu Wenjing’s days might be tough.

”Changing places might be good too; Qing City is bustling, you’ll get used to it in time.” Cheng Su said with a gentle smile.

”Getting used to it or not doesn’t matter now. Anyway, I’ll definitely return to my old home to die; otherwise, how would ’falling leaves return to the roots’ make sense?” Auntie snorted softly.

Mother Cheng, holding Xiao Qi all the while, heard this, glared at the old lady, looking slightly displeased. In a house with a newborn, just full month, coming as a guest, talking about death—what terrible taste!

Cheng Su felt a silent fury from Auntie’s remarks, lost her patience, and responded coldly, ”Oh,” without further chat.

Inside the room, an awkward silence unfolded.
