Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 1533: Chapter 1534: A Pretty Good Catch

Qi Fenglian originally didn’t want to talk much about her own affairs, but she couldn’t resist her sister-in-law’s gossip and curiosity. And since she was caught off guard, she talked about the man who delivered chestnuts.

The man’s name is Chu Changxing, he’s also from Flower County. His home is next to Huangtian Village, in a place called Xiatian Village. He had been married before, but when he was young, Chu Changxing didn’t have much ability, so his wife left him and their son behind.

To prove himself, Chu Changxing raised his son alone. He didn’t remarry for years, focusing solely on working. He knows plumbing and electrical work, saved up money, and now he has opened a hardware store in Qing City. He even bought a small house there. His son is now eighteen and not living with him, as he’s out exploring the world in the Special Zone.

He met Qi Fenglian by coincidence. The hardware store is near the house Qi Fenglian rented. One day a pipe burst, and she went to his shop to buy a pipe. That’s when they got talking and realized they were from the same hometown, leading to their familiarity over time.

Chu Changxing is forty years old this year. Previously, he was busy with making a living and doing business and was also afraid that a stepmother would treat his son poorly, so he didn’t marry again. Now that his son is grown up and has his own ideas, he went out to explore. Living alone felt lonely, and that’s when he considered remarrying.

Qi Fenglian is from his hometown too. After some inquiries, Chu Changxing found out about her situation in detail. Seeing that she’s virtuous and capable, managing with two kids without struggling much, he became interested.

So, Chu Changxing often comes over to offer help. Even the old house Qi Fenglian rented was repaired by him, being skilled in plumbing and electricity.

Listening to these details, Cheng Su thought the conditions weren’t bad; it sounded like a good match. So she asked Qi Fenglian, ”What does Elder Sister think? I think, since he has a hardware store, life shouldn’t be a problem! The key is the person’s character.”

”Life isn’t a problem; he seems quite diligent. I quietly asked around. In the area where we rented houses, many families support him, and they all say he is a good person. Quite a few people have tried to matchmake for him!” Qi Fenglian said, blushing.

”Oh? So he just fell in love with you?” Cheng Su teased.

Qi Fenglian blushed even more, stammering, ”Whether it’s love or not, we’re not young anymore, let’s not talk about that. It’s just that he seems pleasing to the eye. He said, if I’m willing, we could get a marriage certificate and live together. When the kids grow up, they will have their own world, and we will have each other as companions!”

Cheng Su nodded to herself. What he said made sense. When the kids grow up, they will fly away; companionship is important.

”So what does Elder Sister think?”

Qi Fenglian sighed, ”I don’t know. Speaking of age, I’m already thirty-five. Xiao Yun, let’s not mention her. She will soon start junior high school. In the future, whether or not she can attend university, she should find a job. It’s just that Xiao Bao is still so young. There’s still a long way to go. As for him, he’s already at the age to marry, would he be willing to grind out life with me? If we live together, should we have more children? When I gave birth to Xiao Bao, it was really tough. Whether I could still have children is uncertain! To be honest, I actually don’t want to have more. Even one is challenging enough. Another one: I’m not young anymore!”

Uh...

Thirty-five isn’t that old, but in this day and age, it does seem like age is catching up, and the risks of childbirth are higher.

Cheng Su thought for a moment and said, ”If he really has a sincere heart and Elder Sister also likes him, you should have an open talk with him. After all, both of you have sons already, so it’s just about joining forces for life and having someone to rely on. Besides, what does Xiao Yun think? Elder Sister should also ask her opinion well!”

Qi Fenglian nodded.
