CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 289: Chapter 297: Locked

Does he even have a photo backup?

Jane Sampson sneakily glanced at James Black, and coincidentally, James Black was also staring at her.

It seemed he knew she had discovered something, so he curled the corner of his mouth at her and then shifted his smiling gaze away, looking quite pleased.

Jane Sampson’s eyes darted to the mobile phone less than 10 centimeters from her; seeing that James Black wasn’t paying attention, she quickly reached out with her left hand and grabbed the phone back.

Feeling guilty like a thief, she immediately dove under the quilt with the phone, not noticing the slight curl at the corner of James Black’s mouth or the suppressed chuckle beneath the noise of the hairdryer at work.

Jane Sampson’s goal was clear, to check if there was a file backup function on James Black’s phone, but when the screen lit up, what left her helpless wasn’t the goofy-faced photo that appeared, but the notification prompt for a password.

”...” So, James Black knew to lock his phone with a password.

Wow, such a great job!

Jane Sampson pushed James Black’s phone gently out of the quilt and lay on the bed feeling quite defeated.

So James Black, who didn’t seem to mess with his phone much, actually had a pretty thorough understanding of its functions, huh.

Jane Sampson hummed to herself in annoyance, she’d also set a password lock on her phone!

Ah!

So frustrating!

Jane Sampson set up a password on her mobile phone and tossed it back onto the bedhead cabinet. Then she threw off the quilt and gasped for air, nearly overheating herself under the covers.

Her gaze irresistibly drifted over to James Black; he had finished drying his hair and was now cleaning up her vanity. It was as if the back of his head had eyes, sensing her watching him, and he suddenly turned around, their eyes meeting.

”Sleep time!” Jane Sampson huffed, turned her face away first, thought for a moment, still unsatisfied, and then flipped around to face away from James Black with her backside.

James Black chuckled softly, half-mockingly.

He knew what Jane Sampson was fuming about, but he simply didn’t call her out on it.

There was a lot of stuff on Jane’s dressing table, many of which she had just taken out from her suitcase and placed randomly. Only after organizing these did James realize that a woman’s cosmetics could really be so numerous.

It took him several minutes to tidy up Jane Sampson’s dressing table, and when James washed his hands and returned to the bed, he found that Jane had fallen asleep in just those few minutes.

She sure fell asleep easily.

James Black lay down gently next to her, seeing her right hand placed in an uncomfortable position, he carefully lifted her to let her turn over, lying on her side so she could rest on the uninjured shoulder.

And just then, they were facing each other.

Perhaps the movement was a bit too much, and Jane Sampson was startled awake.

Or rather, she woke up startled, opening her eyes wide with a trace of insecurity as she looked at him.

”It’s okay, it’s me.” James Black whispered, soothing the person who had opened their eyes, then gently pulled her into his arms, gently patting her back, ”Sleep now.”

James could tell that Jane Sampson was still somewhat groggy. Hearing his voice, the unease in her eyes gradually faded, and again, she slowly closed them.

James thought Jane Sampson would fall back to sleep, but unexpectedly, after a few seconds, suddenly in the quiet room, he heard a sleepy murmur from Jane.
