CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 279: Chapter 287: Aftermath of a Kiss

He held her in his arms, not speaking, nor in a rush to go inside, his breath carrying the scent of her shampoo.

James Black thought, perhaps in the future, he would become addicted to kissing Jane Sampson.

Because he was concerned about Jane’s injured right hand, even though he had countless desires to meld her into his very being, he was afraid of hurting her and, after calming down, James Black eventually let her go.

”Just now, I was genuinely afraid you would suffocate yourself,” James Black rubbed the top of Jane’s hair.

Jane’s face burned, she pushed James Black away, put on the other slipper and hurried inside first.

Only then did James Black leisurely bend down to change his slippers, placed the keys on the shoe cabinet in the entryway, and followed her, adding another comment, ”You’ve made some progress.”

Jane was so embarrassed by James Black’s praise that she wished the ground would swallow her up.

”James Black, you mustn’t say it!” Jane turned her back, refusing even to glance over at him, her voice trembling slightly, as if from shy embarrassment.

”Hmm, I’ve said it already,” James Black’s voice could barely hide a laugh, ”I’ll go warm up the food on the table.”

James Black took the meals into the kitchen, and only then did Jane slowly turn around, holding her face with both hands to cool down.

It was only when her hands touched her face that Jane realized just how hot it was; she thought, indeed, she must have a high fever.

Glancing at James, who seemed to be busy in the kitchen for a while, Jane ran back into her room and stood in front of the dressing mirror looking at her lips.

Hmm, they were even more swollen than last time.

Do kisses always come with such side effects?

Or is it just him who loves to bite like a dog?

Looking at the person in the mirror with a flushed face and watery eyes, Jane felt like she barely recognized herself.

Jane closed the door of the cloakroom and then lay down on the bed, her ears perked up, listening for any sound from the living room.

Upon hearing James call for her, she immediately left the room.

”Time to eat.” James gave Jane her soup scoop, the one she had used before, but he had washed it.

”I want noodles,” Jane said, holding her bowl and sitting down next to James.

James grunted and served her less than half a bowl of the reheated, somewhat hot noodles, reminding Jane, ”Blow on it before eating.”

”Ugh...” It was already too hot.

Jane ran off in tears, her lips in pain.

James’s eyes swept over Jane’s lips, and he touched his nose tip, ”I’ll apply some medicine after we eat.”

He thought that in the future he’d have to control himself a bit more, and not keep kissing her to this extent.

”I want the beef,” Jane let go of the soup scoop and pointed with her finger at the green pepper beef, ”Beef only, no green peppers.”

James served her a chopstick full of the beef, which Jane promptly spooned up and bit satisfied. After swallowing, she even offered a critique, ”It’s a bit tough.”

The texture of the beef is supposed to be tender, and naturally, reheated beef isn’t quite as delicious.

”Is that sweet and sour ribs or sweet and sour pork?” Jane glanced at the dish furthest from her, then turned to James, ”I want that one!”

”Hmm,” James responded, tall with long arms and legs, he didn’t even need to stand up to effortlessly pick up a piece of meat.

Jane’s gaze followed the food from James’s chopsticks as it left the bowl until he withdrew them, and she hurriedly pushed her bowl forward, only to see James leisurely put the chopstick full of meat into his own mouth.

Hmm, into his own mouth.

???

!!!!

Jane was stunned, looking at her own empty bowl and then at James’s empty chopsticks.

For a moment, she felt the urge to pry open James’s mouth and grab the food.
