CEO's Reborn Wife

Chapter 256: Chapter 264: Is There Evidence?

After the show was broadcast, Alice Worthington followed Jane Sampson’s twitter and indeed noticed a rapid increase in her followers in those two days, but at the same time, Jane Sampson was also attacked by the fans of Sophie Young and William Rivers.

Back then, Alice’s impression of Jane was simply that she was lucky, having a major director like Daniel Taylor backing her.

However, after Sophie Young and William Rivers got banned, Alice’s disdain for Jane shot straight to the top.

”Jane Sampson,” Alice called out to Jane, who was several people away from her, and when Jane turned to look at her, Alice directly asked, ”What do you think about William Rivers and Sophie Young getting banned?”

”What do you mean, what do I think? How should I see it? What does this have to do with me?” Jane responded with a bewildered gaze.

”How can it not be related to you? I heard from Sophie Young’s high level that she and William Rivers had offended someone. Weren’t they upset with you because of Mr. Humming’s show a few days ago? After the show was broadcast, you were bad-mouthed by their fans, and your agent even went out of their way to see Sophie and William’s agents. They originally wanted them to say a few good words for you, but Sophie’s agents said it was the fans’ freedom of speech, and your agent felt they were unwilling to help, so they retaliated against them.”

After hearing this, Jane couldn’t help but laugh in irritation, then retorted, ”Do you have any evidence? Can you prove that their being banned has anything to do with me? We live in a society governed by law, where everything is based on evidence. Have you never read a book? Don’t you understand that?”

Although Jane had always been easy-going, hardly ever quarreling or showing anger, it didn’t mean she was easy to bully, and it certainly didn’t mean that, as a newcomer, she had to put up with these so-called seniors’ insinuations and snide comments.

Alice implied in her words that Jane was cruel, narrow-minded, and selfish, accusing her of ruining the bright futures of two people over a trivial matter.

Jane chuckled softly and said, ”You say these things to my face, if I really had such power to get both Sophie Young and William Rivers banned at the same time, aren’t you afraid that after I leave this door, tomorrow it could be you getting banned?”

Alice was taken aback and immediately realized her words were somewhat inappropriate for the occasion.

But in truth, she was just trying to help her friend probe Jane, to see if she could get some answers regarding Sophie’s and William’s ban, and whether it had anything to do with Jane.

However, Alice was genuinely surprised. In this circle, seniority is highly regarded; even though she was only the female supporting role in this drama, she still considered herself a senior to Jane. Yet, Jane had the audacity to slight her so directly in front of so many people?

While annoyed with her own impulsiveness, Alice also secretly analyzed Jane, thinking that for a newcomer to talk back to her in such a way, either Jane had a strong background and wasn’t afraid of a senior like her or Jane was simply thick-headed and couldn’t take a loss.

Yet in this circle, the latter kind had no place to stand.

Daniel Taylor gently patted the tabletop and said, ”Alice Worthington, you’ve been in this business long enough. What was the point of what you just said? I don’t want my film crew to start filming only to have the media report on discord among the actors. If you are unhappy, you can have your company talk to me about contract termination. You don’t have to endure and stay.”
