Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 77: Chapter 67: Lost

Teacher Yang tapped his forehead thoughtfully with his finger. To remain so composed in front of so many classmates, this child had indeed changed from before. He suddenly forgave Luo Ye for the disrespectful conversation before the exam. It’s a pity he wouldn’t be able to witness her growth in the future.

Without accompaniment or a microphone, yet to perform such a difficult song so thoroughly was bound to cause a sensation, which could be imagined from the aftermath of Luo Ye’s performance. As the song ended, the clamoring for ”another song” was incessant and far from the negotiable attitude previously shown toward Wang Shanshan.

Yang Yan was close to banging her head against the wall in regret. If only she had known Luo Ye’s caliber, she wouldn’t have given her the chance to showcase her talent. It was all her aunt’s lousy idea which had now dug her own grave.

In the excitement, Luo Ye sang another song, ”Gathering.” Before announcing the song, she had to give it some thought – after all, she came from ten years in the past. What if she picked a song that hadn’t been released yet? Cough cough... Explaining that would be a hassle.

After ”Gathering” ended, the crowd still didn’t want to let Luo Ye go. Feeling helpless, Luo Ye looked toward Teacher Yang, signaling that she could no longer control the situation.

Indeed, the enthusiasm for Luo Ye was due to two factors: first, she did sing well, and second, her sudden change of image was still a novelty to everyone. And, well... to openly admire a beauty, ahem, everyone understood that.

”Everyone, please quiet down. This is a farewell class meeting. If you push all the performances onto Luo Ye, firstly, it’s too exhausting for her, and secondly, it would disappoint other students who prepared their acts. Let’s stick to the original plan. Anyone who feels lacking in this regard can ask a classmate to take their place.”

Luo Ye rolled her eyes secretly, which was caught by Ying Nuo, who chuckled and pinched her tender cheek: ”No way around it, the last sentence really did consider everyone’s feelings, and still does, truly!”

Indeed, after the dazzling performance by Luo Ye the dark horse, how many students still had the confidence to perform? At this age, kids have strong self-esteem – they’re not little primary schoolers, who perform regardless of others’ opinions.

Thus, classmates who lost confidence, especially the boys, began asking Luo Ye for help one after another. Luo Ye was generous in her response, treating all requests equally, and her popularity soared.

When it was Wang Shanshan’s turn, she hesitated: ”Luo Ye, why don’t you sing for me too?”

What kind of question was that? Luo Ye smiled lightly: ”Wang Shanshan, are you joking? Your talent is evident, we just have different timbres and vocal ranges. You know why the crowd was egging me on. Let’s not get sentimental.”

A flicker of discomfort crossed Wang Shanshan’s face: ”It’s just that everyone seems to welcome you, and since we’re about to part ways, I didn’t want to disappoint our classmates.”

”Not at all. In our senior year, many of us will likely end up in the same class, and even if not, we’ll still see each other often. Why talk as if we’ll never meet again?”

”I meant singing!” Wang Shanshan’s delicate cheeks blushed, feeling she was making things worse. In truth, she just wasn’t used to suddenly becoming a supporting role from a leading one.

”Singing? You sing just as well as I do. If I were to sing again, it would be an overload to everyone’s aesthetic appreciation!”

”Drink some water, is your throat on fire?” Tang Luo timely handed a cup of water to Luo Ye.

Wang Shanshan was at a loss, torn between insisting Luo Ye sing—which would seem petty—or singing herself and facing a loss of pride. In a moment, whether to sing or not became her dilemma, and her eyes reddened.

Teacher Yang, who noticed everything, nodded encouragingly to Wang Shanshan: ”Shanshan, sing! Everyone’s waiting!” He completely understood his star pupil’s feelings; she had always been the absolute lead in both studies and arts within the class. It was normal for her to feel a little jealous about Luo Ye stealing the limelight today.

Perhaps due to her mood or confidence, Wang Shanshan’s rendition of ”Green Apple Paradise” was below par, and after she finished, she laid her head on the desk, motionless—she had cried.

The classmates, ready to applaud, brought their hands together, looking at each other, unsure of what to do.

”Luoluo, that’s it, you’ve crushed the pride of our class!” Ying Nuo suddenly broke out in a cold sweat: ”I say, with your power, it’s lucky you’re not in the same class. If you had such an impact on Princess Rong, wouldn’t her Flower Protection Team tear you to pieces?”

”Who tears whom is yet to be determined!” Tang Luo pursed her lips: ”The hypocrisy of some people will eventually be exposed.”
