Rebirth in the 90s: Her Counterattack and Redemption

Chapter 64: Chapter 59 Encountered_2

”Pan Jie didn’t tell her family the real background of my family, just said my dad and mom are both civil servants. Regarding this incident, Pan Jie explained to her family that I drove the company’s car home, and after dining, I was listening to music with the AC on in the parking lot when the accident happened. As for you siblings, she said that after dinner you went out for a walk and just happened to find us. Thanks to Ye’er’s smart and quick thinking, we were saved. So, you guys can rest assured, your identities won’t be exposed.”

It’s clear that Luo Zhenggang doesn’t like his children revealing their identities, Song Meng is well aware, of course, the main purpose of this whole explanation is to ensure that the siblings don’t accidentally reveal anything under Mrs. Pan’s questioning.

”Aunt Xiao, Uncle Song, and Aunt Wang didn’t bump into each other? You always lie like this, aren’t you afraid that your future sister-in-law’s family won’t forgive you?”

”You’ve also noticed, Jiejie’s mom is somewhat of a show-off. Jiejie is worried that revealing the truth will lead to countless troubles. She fears her mom meddling in our affairs, and did mention our situation isn’t bad, and that we live in a community where people of fairly good status reside. It counts as the truth; hopefully, she won’t mind it later. Oh well, we’ll see how it goes. By the way, we’ve decided to get married before the Spring Festival. Would you please be our groomsmen and bridesmaids, is that alright?”

”Sure, congratulations Brother Song!” As Luo Ye finished speaking, the bathroom door opened, and everyone quickly changed the subject, starting to talk about amusing school stories.

”Luo Feng, are you still in school?” Mrs. Pan was rather familiar, and after sitting down, she picked up the conversation again.

Luo Feng nodded: ”Yes, aunt, I’m in my second year of college.”

”Nowadays, college students mostly start dating in school, not like it was during our Jiejie’s time. Does Luo Feng have a girlfriend?” Mrs. Pan asked, her gaze hopeful towards Luo Feng.

A twitch at the corner of Luo Ye’s lips. Could it be that there’s another daughter at home crushing on his older brother? In a previous life, after Song Meng and Pan Jie had an accident, the entire family of Song Fangzheng actively went to the girl’s home to apologize. It was said that they gave all their accrued wealth to her family, so the insiders never saw the girl’s relatives, leaving Luo Ye mostly clueless about Pan Jie’s family situation.

Hearing Luo Feng reply that he did not have a girlfriend, Mrs. Pan visibly brightened: ”Luo Feng, I have another daughter, one year younger than you. Aunt likes your honest and caring nature, how about you two date?”

”Cough! Cough! Cough!” Choking on his drink, Song Meng, Luo Feng quickly went over to pat his back.

Luo Ye looked speechless at Mrs. Pan, isn’t this a bit too hasty? And what’s with love at first sight for her brother? Fate? Nonsense? Oh, no, right, Song Meng said the people in their neighborhood are of good status, probably that’s what she’s interested in. God, please forgive her vulgarity, she just can’t think of any other reason for love at first sight.

Pan Jie was also embarrassed, fearing her mom might do something even more embarrassing, she issued an order to leave: ”Mom, you should go back, Aunt Wang is coming over tonight.”

”What’s with the rush to send mom off, child?” Mrs. Pan glanced at her daughter: ”It’s so boring just sitting together quietly. Mom will chat with Luo Ye and Luo Feng for a while.”

Pretending to remember just then, Luo Ye slapped his head: ”We totally lost track of time talking. Brother and I came here straight after school, haven’t even gone home or informed our parents. It’s getting late; our parents will be worried. We’ll visit Brother Song and sister-in-law another day. Auntie, it was really nice talking to you, let’s chat again later. Goodbye!”

”Sure, sure, I really liked you all!” Saying that, she reached to pull on Luo Ye’s hand, but Luo Feng quickly stepped forward to shield his sister: ”Goodbye, Auntie!”

”Luo Ye, Luo Feng, Brother Song is very grateful for your life-saving help. I won’t make a big fuss, but from now on, you are like my own siblings. Be careful on your way home, Luo Feng, take good care of Luo Ye!”

Listening to Song Meng’s tone, Pan Jie giggled: ”How come it sounds like, in a blink of an eye, you’ve become Luo Ye and Luo Feng’s actual brother?”

”Alright, my brother always wanted a big brother to cover for him, now his wish is fulfilled. We’re taking off, Brother Song, sister-in-law, take care and recover well. Please treat us to a big meal when you are discharged!” Luo Ye said as he pulled Luo Feng towards the door, Mrs. Pan hurrying ahead to open it.

”Mom, you scared me to death, no need to welcome me like that!” The door opened, and a 17 or 18-year-old girl jumped back a step, hitting her chest and complaining.

The corner of Luo Ye’s lips curled up. The world really isn’t that big, only these two sisters don’t look alike at all. Pan Jie is vibrant and voluptuous, while Pan Yan is the epitome of the demure girl-next-door. If she hadn’t heard her calling mom, she would never imagine them as sisters.

”Pan Yan, what are you doing here?” As Pan Yan noticed Luo Ye following her mother, her face quickly fell, especially when she saw Luo Ye pull her bangs up, revealing a clean exquisite face, her brows furrowed even deeper.

”Pan Yan, how can you talk like that? Luo Ye is your sister’s lifesaver. If it weren’t for her, you wouldn’t have a sister right now!” Mrs. Pan, unaware of any animosity between her daughter and Luo Ye, hurriedly revealed the truth.

Pan Yan pointed incredulously at Luo Ye: ”Her? My sister’s lifesaver? The sister from the siblings who were just passing by on a walk?”

”That’s right, it’s me, Pan Yan!” Luo Ye turned to Mrs. Pan: ”Auntie, so you’re her mom, I bet you’re particularly curious if there’s any animosity between your daughter and me, right?”

”It’s just child’s temper; don’t take it to heart, but regardless of whose fault, auntie will think you’re right!” Seeing Pan Yan about to speak, Mrs. Pan glared sternly at her younger daughter.

Now Luo Ye finally understood why Mrs. Pan was rubbing her hands together earlier, what else can you expect from a butcher’s wife to be gentle?

”Mom, I don’t even need to hear it to know, it must be Pan Yan’s fault!” Pan Jie spoke languidly.

Seeing this, Luo Ye wasn’t in a hurry to leave anymore. Today seemed like a perfect opportunity to clear the air, a chance to resolve things without shedding blood.
