Chapter 912: Chapter 156: Descendants of the Sun (3)

They fled in terror toward the cave’s exit, losing all regard for the so-called important Inca cultural research materials—despite Professor Doroin’s loud protests.

However, the horror of the Black Unicorn Giant Python lies in its enormous size, able to swallow a person whole in one bite, and its muscles allow it to swiftly slither.

In the blink of an eye, the Black Unicorn Giant Python had already outpaced the fleeing members of the archaeological team, appearing in front of the cave entrance, coiling around, with a cold, predatory gaze.

This forced some of the archaeologists responsible for security to fight back. Having witnessed Santana’s fate, none of them wished to be the next snatched into the python’s jaws.

Da-da, da-da––!!!

Pistols, machine guns—these weapons provided by financiers were madly firing at the Black Unicorn Giant Python.

In the cave, the flashing gunfire lit up the darkness.

“This monster!!”

In the dark, cries of alarm sounded, followed by screams of agony—another member had been targeted by the Black Unicorn Giant Python.

His body was constricted by the python’s enormous body, from his agonized screams, one could almost hear his bones breaking!

However, the python’s skin seemed as though made out of alloy, and the bullets that rained down upon it only made a clinking sound. Despite knocking off a few black scales, it seemed unfazed.

One by one, the team members, enveloped in fear, became meals for the Black Unicorn Giant Python—as if it was punishment for those who intruded upon this place.

Shivering, trembling, they were cornered onto a small patch, while the python’s body encircled them completely—rounding up the archaeology team entirely.

“Is this death… to die here.” One member couldn’t endure the fear any longer, collapsing to the ground, breaking into tears.

This was one of the few women in the team, also a student of Professor Doroin… she sobbed softly.

Song, hidden behind a rock, observed every move of the Black Unicorn Giant Python, without the slightest intention of intervening.

He wasn’t heartless, just someone with his own moral compass—he had been indoctrinated since childhood with a belief that advocated survival of the fittest.

Among this archaeological team, some were fugitives, others harbored ulterior motives, and even Professor Doroin had secretly appropriated his students’ research, leading to a student’s suicide, not to mention Santana—this guy also had a penchant for abusing children.

Picking these people was more of a hobby, a form of alternative judgment—the same operation took place during the first expedition months ago.

Song never considered himself a moral guardian, only doing what piqued his interest, and killing left him without guilt. Neither did assembling a greedy archaeological team induce any remorse.

He knew what he needed, how to employ methods to obtain it, and he never intended to regret anything—even if the members of this archaeological team were all well-intentioned.

Rabbits are also gentle but inevitably end up in a tiger’s jaws.

At this moment, the eyes of the Black Unicorn Giant Python suddenly emitted a red glow, like two dazzling gems. Under this red light, the team members fell to the ground.

And now, the python used its tail to sweep everyone up—just like it did last time.

Song’s heart raced, as he keenly sensed something—by following the Black Unicorn Giant Python, he would uncover some secrets.

The strange whisper in his mind grew more frequent—it felt like a kind of urging.

A gleam of excitement flashed in Song’s eyes as he reveled in this thrilling sensation—indeed, there was nothing better, for it made the vitality of life clearer than ever before.

Like a moth to a flame, he instinctively sought out exhilaration.

The Black Unicorn Giant Python seemed not to notice the follower behind it, moving forward until it began to enter a dark burrow.

Song paused at the entrance of the burrow, listening quietly—as the whispers intensified.

No longer merely echoing in his mind, it felt as though the sound emanated from deep within the burrow, dripping cold sweat down his forehead, yet exuding excitement.

He covered his chest, took a deep breath, closed his eyes, and stepped into the burrow—instantly feeling his body rapidly sliding downward!

This long burrow was incredibly smooth; likely, the giant python had traversed it often, its sturdy scales had polished the rocks to a sheen.

Counting silently in his mind, after reaching a hundred, his body was flung from somewhere, and a more intense sense of falling rushed in. He opened his eyes quickly to witness a dazzling light.

This burrow led to an underground natural pool.

This pool was brimming with a faintly glowing algae, providing light, casting the entire underground cave in a serene blue glow—and in the center of the pool was an edifice resembling a temple.

This is… a trapezoidal pyramid!

Splash! Whoosh!

Song’s body was cast into the pool, splashes rose as he swam rapidly toward the pyramid in the center, climbing onto its edge platform.

Song’s eyes showed a hint of excitement; nothing could bring greater joy than discovering a treasure after experiencing thrill and danger—for him!

Song whistled, wringing out the water from his clothes, as he approached the entrance of the trapezoidal pyramid—yet stopped abruptly in his tracks.

For raising his head, he saw an icy gaze fixed intently upon him—the Black Unicorn Giant Python!

The python was coiled around the exterior of the trapezoidal pyramid, segment by segment downward, its enormous snake’s head nearly touching Song.

Song took a deep breath, subtly shifting his foot backward, his throat twitching slightly.

Yet the python showed no sign of opening its mouth to swallow Song; it merely gazed quietly at him, unmoving—as something unforgettable for Song happened.

The terrifying Black Unicorn Giant Python began to gradually petrify.

Yes, it coiled around the outer surface of the trapezoidal pyramid, transforming completely into a gigantic stone—it persistently lifted its head, gazing forward, like a guardian.

Song suddenly realized that the Black Unicorn Giant Python was likely the guardian of this trapezoidal pyramid—but it chose not to attack him, instead opting to turn into a statue.

“Is it granting me access?” Song steadied himself.

The whispering no longer could be called whispers—it felt more like a call!

But… what about the archaeological team members taken by the python? In such a short time, were they all swallowed already?

Song quickly reconciled his doubts—for he soon found where these team members were.

They were actually inside this trapezoidal pyramid — not only that, inside the pyramid, Song saw a naked man!

This man was moving the archaeologists one by one into a large square pit, and in front of the pit, there was an enormous golden statue!

The statue was inlaid with numerous jadeite gemstones, and it itself was made of gold. The moment Song saw this golden statue, he almost felt lost.

After placing the last archaeologist into the square pit, the man knelt to the ground, almost kissing the floor, appearing extremely humble.

Then, the man performed a set of complex motions, as if some kind of ritual — it was clear this man was worshiping the golden statue before him.

Song had already drawn his pistol, pointing it remotely at the man’s back, moving around him… gradually, he saw the side profile of the man.

It was a face covered with black tattoos. The shirtless man slowly turned his neck towards Song… Song saw those cold, cold eyes on his face.

In an instant, Song felt as if a giant python was staring at him… as if the Black Unicorn Giant Python appeared right in front of him.

“Inti,” the man slightly moved his lips.

Song furrowed his eyebrows and tentatively said, “Inti… Inti?”

The man did not speak, he just shifted his gaze to the golden statue in front of the pit and once again uttered the syllable: “Inti.”

“It, is Inti?” Song couldn’t help but point to the golden statue.

The man slowly nodded… Song thought to himself, this man doesn’t seem intent on harming him, but why did he throw all these archaeologists into this pit?

Did the members of the last expedition end up thrown into this pit as well? Song tried to find some clues from the pit; these people did not seem dead, only unconscious.

But at that moment, the man pointed to Song, then pointed to the golden statue.

Song was stunned and instinctively said, “You… want me to walk to it?”

The man nodded.

Song hesitated for a moment but ultimately remained cautious, keeping a close eye on the man’s every move, then slowly moved in front of the golden statue.

“Nothing special.” Song quickly glanced up at the statue, only finding its value precious, without anything particularly special — there was also no danger.

Since he was young, Song had a keen intuition, especially regarding danger — he would often have sudden premonitions about things, which had saved him from fatal peril many times.

However, the man just silently stared at Song, did not speak, even closed his eyes, as if he had turned into a statue.

Song furrowed his eyebrows and then recalled the man’s previous set of actions in his mind.

He had excellent memory… replaying in his mind the complex gestures the man performed while kneeling, and mimicked them one by one in front of the golden statue.

Yet still, there was no change, leaving Song even more perplexed.

At this moment!

The eyes of the golden statue suddenly opened — yes, the parts of the eyes abruptly opened, and Song saw two swirling black vortices, instinctually feeling immense danger, even a chill running down his spine!

Song subconsciously took a step back, but instantly, he felt a sharp pain spreading throughout his entire body!

Song looked down at his chest — his chest had been pierced directly through from behind by a hand, blood instantly staining his chest red!

Song couldn’t even breathe; in that moment, he saw his own death.

He couldn’t hear anything, only a buzzing in his head, his vision gradually fading, as his body was lifted by the arm that had pierced through his chest from behind.

He was drawn closer to the golden statue.

Suddenly, a small protrusion appeared on the chest of the golden statue — it was a tiny badge embedded in the statue’s chest.

Countless whispers sounded in Song’s head, and besides the pain in his body, he suffered the mental feeling of being compressed by something.

“Inti——!!!”

Song suddenly opened his eyes, painfully shouting out this syllable!

…

…

Inti!

Every time, this call would sound in his mind… Song Haoran opened his eyes, and there was still a large wound on his chest — it had been pierced by the claw of a terrifying spider in the treasure chamber.

Song Haoran had already fallen to the ground, knowing he had died once.

Yes, he had died once — but his death wasn’t just this time.

That time, near the mysterious pyramid by the Golden Lake, he had died once — resurrected, after death, he once again returned to this mainland from the arms of the grim reaper.

And then two years ago, at sea, in the Caribbean, when his ship was sunk by suddenly attacking pirates, he should have perished in the ocean, but in the end, he was only washed ashore by the waves, then came back to his senses.

“Badge of the Sun God”

Song Haoran knew, this was the ‘Badge of the Sun God’… or rather the ‘Inti’ gave him the Power of rebirth.

But the source of this Power was Life! The lives buried within that golden statue! They don’t know by what Power fed, bound their own Life completely to Song Haoran’s Life.

Like a Resurrection Coin, each time he dies, it consumes those ‘Lives’ bound to him!

At this moment, Song Haoran only felt an extraordinary Power surging throughout his entire being, as if endowed with some Divine Power!

He fell to the ground, reached out and grabbed, catching an ancient Treasured Sword flipping on the ground due to a grenade thrown by Song San in this treasure chamber!

Song Haoran’s speed suddenly surpassed all his limits, both hands thrusting the ancient Treasured Sword entirely into the abdomen of the terrifying spider monster!

At that moment, the giant terrifying spider’s entire body suddenly swelled… gradually reaching its limit, then instantly exploding, a fiery breath erupting from the spider’s burst body.

Song Haoran blankly looked at his own hands… which had now turned golden, like Gold.
