Chapter 858: Chapter 102: The Mainland of Lies (Part 5)

Feeling something icy drizzling on his face, Arno suddenly opened his eyes, then took a deep breath—as if a drowning man had just resurfaced and was greedily gulping the air around.

“My God, boss, you finally woke up.”

The voice Arno heard came from the dormitory manager, the guy who secretly worked for him.

“I saw that Ms. Ren left in a hurry, but didn’t see you, so I decided to come to the room to check, and found you fainted on the sofa.” The manager quickly described what happened after Arno lost consciousness.

Arno instinctively touched his neck. From the fragmented memories before he fainted, he could determine that he lost consciousness due to an electric shock… Arno looked around the room.

Suddenly, he remembered something, searched his body, and finally found his wallet under the sofa—his money was gone, and another more important item was also clearly missing.

“Boss, I didn’t take your money…” the manager quickly explained.

Arno suddenly threw his wallet aside, grabbed the other by the collar, and with eyes wide open, almost devouring, shouted, “Where did she go?”

“She went towards the south gate, maybe left?” the manager quickly replied.

“How long ago?”

“About… about seven or eight minutes?”

Arno pushed the person away and rushed out the door, ignoring the manager’s calls.

…

…

The university is a place bustling with people, but simultaneously, if no one is around, it can become eerily desolate… desolate enough to induce a sense of loneliness.

Within the grand architectural complex, you can always find places to hide where no one comes—like the teaching building area with lights turned off after classes are over.

The south gate is the fastest exit to leave, and the already decided Caroline was hurrying with her head down—since the bank card was back in her hand, she felt confident enough to evade everything.

Perhaps.

Perhaps fate always enjoys playing tricks on her—Caroline suddenly felt it was laughable, for she still couldn’t understand why bad things kept happening one after another, just as she couldn’t understand why she met the one person she least wanted to see at that moment.

Yes, after luckily regaining her wealth, just when she was about to leave this troublesome place, at the door leading to a new life, Caroline encountered the guy who brought all kinds of trouble and misfortune to her.

The murderer of Livia… Harry.

At this moment, Caroline could finally clearly distinguish between the two brothers, no longer having to guess which one was in front of her—because she had already electrocuted Arno into unconsciousness in the room.

No time to wonder why Harry returned at this moment, the moment Caroline saw Harry appear, she got the urge to run—because Harry looked so intimidating at that moment.

His eyes were filled with violence, his face was so hideously contorted, as if a devil resided within his body… Such a guy, such a terrifying guy… Livia had died at the hands of such a terrifying guy.

“Caroline.” Harry tilted his head, from left to right, slowly spitting out words, sounding like a question, a low roar, an undeniable command, “Where are you going.”

“Nothing, just wandering around… I’m going back.” Noticing that Harry’s state was somewhat abnormal, Caroline hastily said a line, then turned around and left from in front of Harry.

She held the bag tightly in her hands, not daring to look back, walking faster and faster—finally, she started to run, recklessly running, just wanting to get away from the devil-like man’s sight.

“Caroline—!!!”

Harry roared like a beast, then charged forward like a mad leopard, dashed off far away—this made Boston, trailing from afar, feel furious.

“Damn it, this freak!!”

Boston, in anger, kicked the trash can beside him—Harry should have gone straight to Arno; why chase after that bitch?

Boston spat on the ground, just about to give chase, when suddenly from the side path came a voice he dreaded—Arno.

Arno leaped over from a small path fence, with some leaves still on him, having taken a shortcut to the south gate exit.

He figured Caroline wouldn’t be too familiar with the university’s various passages and would only take the main road, so he tried to intercept her.

“Boston, why are you here?” Arno approached, staring Boston down.

Boston instinctively wanted to draw a gun… maybe taking Arno out here was a good choice. But such an action was too foolish, especially firing a gun here, the gunshot would surely attract the campus guards.

Besides, seeing Arno’s somewhat frantic state, and witnessing Caroline and Harry’s encounter, Boston’s intuition told him Arno was hiding something from him.

Boston’s mind spun, immediately creating a lie, “Sorry, boss! Harry escaped from the hive while I went out to buy food. I saw him looking absolutely crazy, saying he was coming for you, so I chased all the way.”

“What? You let him out?” Arno grabbed Boston by the collar, both angry and confused, “How could you!”

“I’m, I’m sorry…” Boston kept his head down: “But… he went that way! And that woman! Caroline! I saw her too!”

Arno shoved Boston aside, shouting, “I’ll deal with you later… follow me!”

Why… why couldn’t things go as planned?

Why couldn’t things go as smoothly as one would wish… if only everything worked out as planned, how wonderful that would be?

Just like a script, how wonderful!

So frustratingly bad, that one would want to destroy everything and start anew.

…

…

They were like spectators, yet with the ability to intervene whenever they wished.

It’s just that countless similar things have been happening across the world, even at this moment, there are countless similar events occurring in different times and spaces.

Wolfgang’s fingers slightly moved, as if playing invisible keys in the air, creating a vibrant rhythm with the air’s vibration, “Emotions can be put into the music… hmm, this kind of frenzy called Harry is somewhat interesting, too bad he’s just ordinary to the point of being unremarkable… this piece can’t go on.”

The hand suddenly stopped, Wolfgang turned to Noah and said, “Aren’t you going to help this woman? She probably can’t avoid danger.”

“Since she still has the opportunity for Awakening in the real world, this level of difficulty doesn’t count as anything,” Arno said calmly. “If she cannot overcome it, it proves she’s still not meant to exist in the real world, the world’s consciousness is scripting her end, and it’s not something we should interfere with.”

“Oh?” Wolfgang asked curiously, “Didn’t you say she would be your bride?”

Noah flipped his sleeve, “The multiverse is unified… Each entity is independent yet has some connection. Since the power of dimensional observation can emerge in her in the main world, it also has a chance to emerge in her in other worlds… Failing here does not mean failure elsewhere. I just need to know it’s Caroline, not the Caroline of the main world.”

Wolfgang shrugged and asked crudely, “So in other worlds, there’s purity then?”

Arno glanced at Wolfgang indifferently, and just as he was about to speak, he frowned slightly… He suddenly lifted his hood and turned to look behind Wolfgang.

Noticing Noah’s oddity, Wolfgang turned instantly as well—behind them appeared, at some unknown time, three figures whose bodies were perfect.

Their faces were impeccable, dressed androgynously, making it impossible to ascertain their gender. But from these three radiated a discomforting aura to Wolfgang.

Wolfgang flicked his golden wig, slightly moving, “The notes in the wind have become restless.”

“The song of desires, how dare it desecrate the gospel.” The leading beautiful figure stood with hands behind, shaking their head gently.

Wolfgang’s fingers suddenly felt as if tapped by something, promptly closing—they now bore a smiling bruise.

Wolfgang couldn’t help but gape in surprise, turning to look at Noah, only to see Noah wave to stop Wolfgang, calmly saying, “Wolfgang, for a genius like you, even you cannot create this sound deemed a human gospel. The gospel that envelops Gabriel, don’t disturb your notes.”

“Gabriel…” Wolfgang’s expression swiftly changed, instantly looking forward with extreme seriousness, “It… is Gabriel, the Left Hand of God!”

Ignoring Wolfgang’s current seriousness, Gabriel in front of them floated up, slowly approaching Noah, facing each other for a moment.

Gabriel suddenly said, “Not planning to escape?”

Noah shook his head, calmly responding, “One day when I dreamt and found myself in heaven, I knew I would eventually return someday. But I didn’t know the exact time… But perhaps it is this time.”

“Hopefully, I won’t need to act.” Gabriel nodded.

Noah shrugged with some helplessness, “If it were other angels, I might consider it. I just didn’t expect It to directly send you, its true form, then I have no choice.”

“Quite reasonable.” Gabriel smiled softly, “No wonder you once inherited the name of Prophet… Then go back with me.”

“Can it wait a bit?” Noah suddenly said, “I will go back with you, how about tomorrow?”

“Don’t make me act here.” Gabriel’s eyes flashed with golden light.

“Then there’s no help.” Noah casually waved.

But Gabriel seemed to have long noticed Noah’s move, and with faster speed, pressed Noah’s palm down. Noah then only smiled slightly, “I told you, I wasn’t planning to leave… But my friend here has nothing to do with heaven, you can’t just recklessly take people, right?”

As Noah spoke, Wolfgang’s body instantly faded, disappearing in the blink of an eye.

Gabriel silently glanced at Noah, slowly releasing their hand, calmly saying, “I heard a remarkable group has gathered in the cracks of dimensions, thinking themselves to escape the world, but ultimately cannot stay longer in the main world, don’t you think it’s self-deception?”

Noah smiled without speaking, suddenly pointing toward the starry sky, pointing below the stars, his finger moving downward, a mountain ahead, “What do you say is beyond that mountain?”

Gabriel frowned, “What?”

“A meteor.” Noah said.

“How do you know?” Gabriel asked.

Noah shook his head, “Do you want to go see? Only by seeing can you know if it’s there.”

Gabriel waved gently.

The two accompanying angels immediately stepped forward, Noah then cooperatively extended his arms. One angel swept past Noah’s hands, instantly clasped a shackle over Noah’s wrists.

“Take him away.” Gabriel commanded firmly in a deep voice.

The two angels’ bodies then transformed into light—a light began spreading onto Noah, the angels along with Noah started to gradually fade away.

“I’ve been beyond the mountain, but I didn’t see you there… because you didn’t come.”

Before disappearing, Noah’s voice gradually fell.

When the last gleam vanished, Gabriel finally turned away—unlike before, angels now walked in the main world without causing a stir, as Its glory had long illuminated the earth, letting the world know It.

Quietly arrive and quietly depart.

But Gabriel didn’t leave immediately, instead went to the tall Clock Tower in this university campus.

In the Clock Tower, facing towards the direction of the Pole Star, Gabriel knelt, hands pressed against their chest… Gabriel slowly stood up.

Its body suddenly grew taller, the exquisite face akin to spirit of nature became slightly rugged, sprouting some beard, the face’s contours becoming deeper.

‘Gabriel’ then stood with hands behind, came to the small passage outside the Clock Tower, perfectly able to overlook a large city ahead.

‘Gabriel’ suddenly opened their mouth softly speaking, “It’s been a while since seeing night, darker than before… The pollution has worsened over these years.”

Soft footsteps sounded behind ‘Gabriel’.

Someone was supporting the stairs, slowly climbing to the Clock Tower’s top mechanism room… Finally she stepped into this place, seeing ‘Gabriel’ watching the city.

“With only your presence, heaven can welcome night, shining as ever.” She said.

‘Gabriel’ sighed, “This time I’ve specially descended to thank you for informing me of Noah’s whereabouts.”

“Isn’t this a service you purchased before? As long as the owner of the ‘Book of Void’ and ‘Gem Sword’ appear in the main world, inform you. For hundreds of years, we have always remembered your request.” She smiled.

‘Gabriel’ slowly turned, looking at her coming forward… She was a maid from a shop specializing in selling any items.

“I’ve always regretted.”

‘Gabriel’ seemed to recall something, “Regretting turning your Soul over, letting heaven continue to exist… Joan.”

“Customer, I’m called You Ye, you got it wrong.”

‘Gabriel’ gazed deeply, nodded slightly, softly said, “Indeed… you aren’t just Joan either.”
