Chapter 891: Chapter 135: The Bond of the Immortals (2)

It seemed to use brass as the main framework of the scroll. When he first saw this scroll book, Song Da had a feeling that he couldn’t take his eyes off it.

Song Da instinctively reached out his hand to take the scroll book from the platform, but at this moment Song Er quickly grabbed Song Da’s wrist, “Ahda, wait, there’s a mechanism!”

Song Da shivered, knowing that Song Er’s hobby was studying some curious and clever devices, he nodded and stepped aside.

Only to see Song Er slowly circling the platform a few times and then looking around. Suddenly, Song Er took a lavish dagger from among the treasures.

He walked up to the platform, drew the dagger, and carefully inserted the blade into the base of the scroll book, explaining, “This should be a gravity mechanism. The scroll book is pressing against the switch of the mechanism. Once taken away, the switch will pop out, and what traps follow is unknown… Okay.”

Song Er pressed the dagger, swiftly took the scroll book, and didn’t move but instead listened carefully for a few seconds before slowly exhaling.

He pointed to a box not far away, presumably for storing jewelry; Song San understood and quickly brought it over. Song Er placed this box where the scroll book originally was before withdrawing the dagger.

“Alright, it’s fine now.” Song Er exhaled and said, “Fortunately, this mechanism is ancient. If it were modern technology, it wouldn’t be a neutral mechanism, but a buoyancy mechanism, and if the weight is different, it would still trigger the mechanism.”

Song Da gave a thumbs up and scrutinized the scroll book he had just taken.

Soon, Song Da frowned and said, “Why can’t this thing be opened?”

It seemed that there was no lock on the opening of the scroll book, yet with Song Da’s strength, he couldn’t open a scroll. “This thing is unusual! What’s written on it?”

Song Er took it over and looked at it; the surface of the scroll book had a line of text on it, “This seems to be in Arabic. I learned some from Mr. Blind Man… Qura… Quran?”

“Quran?” Song Da was taken aback, “Is that a person’s name?”

Song Er glared at Song Da, then frowned and said, “I’m afraid it’s the Quran, something of the Ahongs… it’s just like the Tripitaka to our former abbots!”

“You could’ve just said it’s the Ahong’s code…” Song Da rolled his eyes and then asked puzzled, “Why is this thing hidden under these bloodsucking monsters’ castle?”

Song San said, “Probably stolen from somewhere else. Look at these treasures; there are all sorts of things. I fear the former castle owner got these through looting?”

Song Da snatched the scroll book from Song Er’s hand, saying, “This thing is a bit unusual. When I was looking at it, I felt like my thoughts weren’t my own. I think we’d be better off not touching it… the wealth here is enough to keep us prosperous for generations; there’s virtue in contentment!”

“Wait, I have an idea.” Song Er snatched it back and then said seriously, “Maybe the Blind Man might have a way to open it. I just study mechanisms, but that guy is a mystical charlatan, a capable one, and he might be interested… Ahda, no matter how much we practice, in the end, we can’t get to the entry level…”

Song San hesitated: “Second Brother, you mean…”

Song Er said, “Why do we stay with Old Master Song? Just because he is willing to support us? Lots of people would, as long as we showed off some skills. There are many rich folks in our country who would treat us the same. But why do we stay in this foreign land? Yes, it’s true; a big part of it is Old Master Song did save us before.”

Seeing Song Da frowning, Song Er quickly added, “Ahda, I know we should remember the grace given to us for a thousand years, and as disciples of the Buddhist Sect, we uphold the laws of cause and effect. But think about it, over these years, haven’t we saved Old Master Song quite a few times? Remember last time in Cuba, who brought Old Master Song back from being hunted by hundreds of mercenaries? It was us! And last time in Malacca, and that time in South Africa! When have we not risked our lives? Not to mention this time, haven’t we fought with our lives on the line?”

Song Da remained silent.

Only then did Song Er say, “You and I know in our hearts, the debts we owed have long been paid off. The reason we still stay is because of the Blind Man, isn’t it? He is the Entering the Way person we’ve been desperately searching for! We’ve stayed to learn those Taoist Powers from him that surpass martial arts in ingenuity… If the Blind Man likes this thing, it might be our real entry ticket.”

Song Da was still undecided.

Song Er then threw out the last straw: “Do you wish only for a lifetime of wealth, or to learn the Dharma of Long Life?”

“Damn it… let’s do it!” Song Da slapped his head, made a decision, and said, “Let’s take this thing back to the Blind Man and see what he says!”

“Brothers, come and see, there seems to be another door!” Song San called out hurriedly.

It was a not very large door hidden in the corner of the treasure room. It was blocked by a giant wooden carving, which Song San moved aside, revealing it.

Song Er hurried over to study it and eventually found the mechanism to open it, but it wasn’t a secret chamber or anything but a long passageway.

Song Er’s eyes lit up: “This is the treasure room. Generally, there must be a retreat route in the place of treasure… this is the retreat path! Brothers, we are saved now!”

“Then… what about all these treasures? There are so many, we can’t take them with us?”

“Fool! What’s the use of money if we’re dead? If we survive, Old Master Song can bring hundreds of men here, and even if we have to use rocket launchers and explosives, we can flatten this group of monsters! Then we just split the treasures!”

“Exactly!”

The brothers stuffed the ancient scroll book into their pockets, closed the door of the treasure vault again, and then quietly slipped into the newly discovered passage.

…

Xitacil decided to leave this place.

A businessman shouldn’t involve himself too much in risk—though many traders would stop at nothing for three hundred percent profit.

Even Xitacil himself often took some risks—but what was before him was no longer a risk!

Ever seen a fourth-generation bloodsucker killed outright? Xitacil had; a long time ago when the Thirteen Clans united to eliminate a traitor, he even picked up some leftovers on the battlefield, gaining some benefits, but the Thirteen Clans’ extermination troops also suffered heavy casualties.

This was a fourth-generation bloodsucker, not some worthless guy blending in on a college campus, dating women, and after heartaches, agreeing to watch the dawn together.

He saw with his own eyes how his ancestor was rendered motionless by a single word, had his power stripped away by another, and ultimately reverted to his original state by yet another.

With the disappearance of Viscount Fernandis, the progenitor of the Fernandis bloodline, Xitacil could feel it precisely—under such circumstances, how could he dare stay in the manor?

Xitacil felt that he had lost everything in this business venture—having his Doppelganger Mudman destroyed by Tu Shenyi, no, by Karen, the true blood plan declared a failure, and the most secretive power of the Fernandis family, Viscount Fernandis, being ruined.

Yet, before retreating, Xitacil was still able to reach a certain place.

This was a last will left by Viscount Fernandis with his last power before transforming into a mummy. Because of the blood ties, Xitacil could hear the elder’s last words.

The other hidden secret of the Fernandis family.

Spiraling down the long staircase… when Xitacil arrived, he saw a colossal wooden door.

This wooden door couldn’t possibly stop Xitacil. He easily pushed it open, and before his eyes was a sight filled with all kinds of wealth. To Xitacil’s eyes, the gold and silver here were nothing but useless items.

Some of the gems here contained a faint power, but they were not truly valuable… Xitacil furrowed his brow. What was the use of this treasure left by the elder?

Would a bloodsucker be short of money?

Xitacil furrowed his brow and walked in, observing carefully, and indeed found a pedestal in the middle—on the pedestal, there was a delicate jewelry box.

Xitacil opened the jewelry box, his intuition told him that what the elder ultimately wanted him to take away was probably what was on this pedestal.

“Earrings?” Xitacil furrowed his brow and picked up a pair of pearl earrings from the jewelry box.

The pearls were indeed quite large, but the key was… Xitacil couldn’t see anything special about them.

“There must be some secret I’m unaware of,” Xitacil furrowed his brow, otherwise, Viscount Fernandis wouldn’t have asked him to take this item at the end.

Xitacil took a deep breath, thought for a while, and directly put the earrings on his ears, planning to study them slowly after going back.

Xitacil swiftly turned and left… the money here held no attraction for him whatsoever.

And the longer he stayed here, the more dangerous it would be… Who knows if he still would have his life the next time he encountered Luo Qiu?

“Next time… Next time, when I see you again, I will definitely win you over… my dear.”

Xitacil flashed a sinister smile before finally disappearing into the darkness.

…

…

Somewhat stumbling, the power of the fourth generation of Viscount Fernandis was difficult for her to bear, so she had to support herself against the wall to barely move.

At this moment, she should be called Karen.

A head full of white hair swayed with her staggered steps, she looked like someone who had just recovered from a severe illness. Though her injuries were severe, the bloodsucker’s regenerative abilities were constantly speeding up the recovery of her body.

Yet she tripped over something, and her body lurched forward. Karen fell to the ground, and something slipped out of her, a coin.

A 1 mark coin.

Karen raised her head, attempting to reach out and retrieve the coin… her hand was right in front of her, still at some distance from the coin, but at this moment, glancing lights and shadows appeared before her eyes.

…

Heavy snow, the sound of bells ringing throughout the streets, in fact, it was the sound of Christmas carols, Silent Night, on the streets of Berlin, Germany in 1990.

People hurriedly came and went, rushing home to be with family or meeting up with loved ones, each having their own places to go and eagerly anticipating it.

Ding ding ding… ding.

Unlike the music in which the sound of bells rang, a coin dropped to the ground, then rolled, seemingly about to roll into the sewer on the street.

But in the end, the coin was blocked by a pair of boots — or rather, its rolling path just happened to collide with a passerby’s boots.

At this moment, a disheveled young man hurried over, his gaze fixed on the ground… it seemed he was the owner of this coin.

When he realized the coin had escaped the peril of falling into the sewer unscathed, he cheerfully said, “Oh, some gratitude to God, this is my last asset.”

Saying this, the young man bent down to pick up the coin.

Only then did the young man notice that the one who blocked the coin from falling into the sewer was a lady, and a beautiful lady at that.

The young man smiled and muttered, “Looks like I’m not entirely out of luck.”

“Are you very unlucky?” the lady suddenly asked, using the language of Hua Country, with almost no discernible accent.

But the lady had blonde hair and blue eyes, clearly a foreigner at first glance.

The young man curiously asked, “You speak Chinese?”

The lady casually nodded, her hat already covered with a layer of frost. Her hands were tucked into the pockets of her coat, her face slightly pale, as if chilled.

“You haven’t told me yet, are you very unlucky?” the lady asked again.

The young man shrugged, then rubbed his cold-stiffened hands, casually said, “I just gambled with someone and lost all my money, leaving only this one mark coin. I don’t even know how it ended up with me.”

The lady nonchalantly said, “Is losing money gambling considered unlucky? Then there are many unlucky people in the world.”

The young man at this moment said, “What if we were gambling on luck? Pure luck, and even with some skills, I still couldn’t win?”

“Oh?” The lady slightly turned her head, seeming to have discovered something interesting. She suddenly glanced at the young man’s hands.

His fingers were long, but she could tell that the ten fingers of his hands were stronger than those of an average person, and definitely very nimble.

The young man, with self-mockery, said, “I’ve never lost before, but this time I lost thoroughly and lost to someone who can’t gamble… lost to someone who seemed to have been blessed by the goddess of luck.”

“Are your gambling skills impressive?” the lady asked indifferently.

The young man confidently smiled, pinched the 1 mark coin between his fingers, and raised it, “Do you believe that I could use it to buy that building in one night?”

He pointed with the fingers holding the coin, directing towards a building across the street.
