Chapter 798: Chapter 42: You Don’t Have to Fool Me! I’m Not Listening!

Three hours had passed since the agreed meeting time, and Bucky still hadn’t shown up.

Because of this, the henchmen who had rushed from the distant main base overnight to meet him had already become extremely impatient. However, no matter how they tried to contact him, they couldn’t get in touch with their boss.

They didn’t dare leave on their own, but waiting like this wasn’t a solution. At the very least, they needed any clue to ensure that their boss, Bucky, hadn’t run into any accidents on the way.

“I’ve filled two bottles!”

“Who told you to drink so much? Also, can you throw the bottles away? The smell reminds me of when my mom used to herd cows on the farm.”

“Idiot.”

Someone reluctantly took the two bottles and got off a gray-white van.

Meanwhile, in the distance, two pairs of eyes were watching the scene. The owners of the eyes were Bucky and Cage, the former prison transport driver who had become Bucky’s underling.

The wonders of life’s opportunities often lie in the fact that one day you belong to a government unit—though the type of work might not be particularly noble, maybe even the lowest level with no influence—but the next moment, you’ve become an accomplice to a serious criminal.

Moreover, you spend the afternoon doing nothing but staring at a gray-white van.

If you get bored, you can even observe how many times the men in the van have relieved themselves over the past few hours… emmmmm, we’re talking about normal urination.

“Boss Bucky, why do we keep watching them and not just go over? Aren’t they your henchmen?” Cage found it puzzling that Bucky even had the mood to read a magazine he had just bought from a street vendor.

So — the task of watching the people who came to meet them fell entirely on Cage — his first task after becoming Bucky’s henchman.

“Don’t rush, keep watching.” Bucky lazily flipped to a new page in the magazine, “Being too hasty won’t help you open the widow’s door, and impatience won’t allow the **** of female students to become moist. Relax, take your time.”

Cage had no choice but to say, “Boss Bucky, it can’t be because of what that pretty lady said when we left the bar, right? She said she gave you a fortune-telling… Boss, you haven’t believed her, have you?”

In Cage’s view, once you got in that van, you could reach a heaven with fifty female students — that van was definitely the one! He was ready to jump on at any moment, but Bucky remained motionless, which made Cage impatient.

Hasn’t it been a wasted three hours waiting without any accidents happening?

Though impatience indeed makes it difficult to open the widow’s door, after waiting three hours, the widow might have already solved the problem herself using some unusual items!

Cage was convinced that Bucky had become so cautious because of what the woman named Charlotte had said.

“Believe her nonsense? I’d be an idiot to trust her so-called fortune-telling.” Bucky shook his head disdainfully, “That woman’s fortune-telling is inaccurate nine times out of ten. Let me tell you, whatever she predicts, if it unfolds normally, it will definitely be completely opposite to the fortune-telling. If her fortune-telling says it’s a good thing, then the situation will surely turn for the worse. But if it’s the opposite, congratulations, you’ll be completely fine.”

Cage was stunned, even more puzzled, “Then she said you’d be in danger, doesn’t that mean everything will go smoothly this time? Why is the boss still so cautious?”

Bucky said disdainfully, “Precisely because Charlotte is such a peculiar Guiding Light, I have to be more careful! Don’t let this woman be surrounded by mystery, giving the impression she’s completely unbelievable…. But in fact, she’s a petty fool! I’ve already told you, under normal circumstances, this is the case! But to ensure her accuracy, this woman often uses abnormal methods! Frankly, I’m not afraid of those agents chasing me or those wanting my life, but I’m most concerned about Charlotte!”

Cage said incredulously, “You mean this woman would sabotage us from behind, and really put you in danger?”

Bucky sighed, putting down the latest issue of the Playboy magazine, clearly a seasoned underworld boss, “In the game, you eventually pay back what you owe… But at least don’t let yourself be buried by a woman.”

Cage shook his head, he hadn’t reached this level of insight… Plus, does this really align with the tone of the dialogue above?

“Alright, let’s keep waiting,” Cage said helplessly.

Bucky then suddenly said, “No need, go find them, have them come over to pick me up. It’s been a few hours, with Charlotte’s character, she should have acted by now.”

“Boss, why don’t we walk over ourselves?” Cage was still puzzled.

Bucky glanced at Cage calmly, snorted, “As a boss, it’s fundamental to have your underlings come and pick you up, got it?”

Damn, sitting for too long, can’t cross my legs… But my legs are numb.

“Alright then…” Cage nodded and headed towards the van that had been parked for a long time.

But before making a move, Bucky put a cap on Cage’s head and said calmly, “Take this with you, it’s the mark I agreed with them previously, if you walk over just like this, they won’t believe you.”

Cage nodded, secretly thinking that these gangsters really do everything methodically… He lowered his head, put his hands in his pockets, and crossed the street, walking towards the van.

Bucky then put down his crossed legs forcefully, quickly kneading them, hoping his Qi-Blood would recover before his underlings arrived, otherwise, it would be really awkward if he couldn’t stand!

While rubbing his calf, Bucky raised a toy telescope bought from the roadside, observing Cage’s contact with the van.

Apparently noticing someone approaching, wearing the agreed cap, two men quickly got off the van.

At this point, Cage quickened his pace, as if heading towards a heaven with fifty female students.

However, as Cage lifted his head, and faced the men getting off the van, a sudden change occurred!

Several men suddenly emerged from directionless places! These men wore shirts, but over the shirts they wore bulletproof vests! Their movements were swift, and they were holding pistols!

In an instant, they forced Cage against the van’s hood, flipped his arms in a hurry, pressing him onto the hood, and pointed guns at his head!

Almost instantly, more than a dozen similarly dressed men charged out from the surroundings—they surrounded the van parked in the alley.

And shouted loudly—even though the distance made it impossible to hear what they were saying. But Bucky’s experience was rich enough to guess what these guys were saying.

“Hands up, don’t move! You are surrounded, put down your weapons and surrender…”

Bucky no longer cared about Cage or the suddenly emerging men, he quickly raised the magazine in his hand, pretended to be completely absorbed by its content, and started to leave from afar, quickly blending into the crowd.

Damn!! Charlotte is clearly a fraud, her fortune-telling is inaccurate nine times out of ten… Why did I hit the correct one this time?

…

Not only was Bucky exceptionally shocked, quietly departing before the agents realized they had caught the wrong person. Meanwhile, on the rooftop of a certain building on the same street, two other pairs of eyes were similarly surprised.

They… or it might be they.

Only to see Charlotte still in a black strap dress and black high heels, revealing only a small stretch of snow-white calf, holding a black lace umbrella, muttering to herself, “Didn’t expect that…”

As for next to Charlotte, there was a much more ugly creature—like a crocodile’s head, covered in dense green scales, with huge bat-wing-like wings on its back, made of bones and skin membranes… It maintained a floating state, hovering about ten centimeters above the ground.

It also muttered to itself, “Didn’t expect that…”

Of course, its voice was truly a murmur, akin to silent chanting, even Charlotte couldn’t hear it.

Seeing the agents below realizing they had caught the wrong person, sending large numbers of personnel scattering, frantically searching the area, Charlotte suddenly smiled slightly, her face full of pride, “See my accurate fortune-telling.”

“Praise you, great Lady Charlotte.” The devil-like fellow exclaimed at this moment, “You truly are our Guiding Light.”

Charlotte stretched lazily and yawned, “I was worried that nothing would happen to Bucky, so I specially came along to see. Now that I’ve seen something has happened to him, I’m relieved. Let’s go back and catch up on our sleep! Lack of sleep during the day can make the skin worse.”

Thus, the mysterious Charlotte and her demon-like servant walked away… walked away… away…

…

…

“It shouldn’t be, right? Why was Charlotte’s prophecy able to come true this time?” Bucky scratched his head, unable to figure out why such a Guiding Light would go out!

But compared to this unexpected accurate prophecy by Charlotte, Bucky was more concerned with why so many agents suddenly showed up!

Logically, the phone he used was prepared by Lucifer’s people—their stuff, though often dangerous and cunning, at least was reliable. So the calls shouldn’t have been traced or anything.

Could it be that Cage secretly informed?

But Bucky quickly dismissed the thought—because he had been with Cage all day and night, this guy was even hooked by a Banshee last night and slept like the dead, with no time for any extra moves.

Then, it could only mean one thing… there was a problem with his own subordinates!

Bucky kicked a passing trash can in annoyance, feeling extremely depressed: the debt certainly comes quickly! It seems like he just betrayed Young Roger not long ago, letting him die behind the theater. Now, it’s his turn to be betrayed by his underlings!

Thinking of himself being betrayed, Bucky became more and more terrified.

This time he called a subordinate he had known for over ten years, a brother who braved life and death together for help. But such a brother ended up betraying his whereabouts, this was quite serious!

During his time in jail, most of the business was managed by this trusted subordinate… Since this person betrayed him, who knows how much of his assets had been embezzled behind his back?

So angry!!!

I always said, wouldn’t it be better if I stayed in prison all the time!!

“He’s over there!! Hurry up, block the front!!!”

Lost in thought, the sudden angry shout startled Bucky—had those damn agents finally found him? Without thinking, Bucky took off running for his life, but he barely made it a hundred meters before he was gasping for air.

So angry!

Prison had good meals and accommodations, but had he become out of shape over the years?

What’s in front of him exactly?

Suddenly it seemed to darken, then abruptly brighten; he found himself in a softly illuminated place… as if he’d crossed a century, Bucky suddenly saw an old-fashioned hall.

He seemed to hear the sound of wind chimes.

“Well then, dear guest, may I ask what would you like to purchase?”

At the front counter, a young man with black hair politely looked at Bucky, while a woman beside him who was polishing an old phonograph with a cloth also stopped her hands.

…

It was as if he had entered another world.

Here was quiet, cool, making one feel like staying forever. For a moment, Bucky couldn’t even feel the breath of summer.

Astonished, he opened his mouth, then turned to look at the aged pinewood door… outside seemed to be another place.

The architectural style was completely typical of the slum areas—but he clearly remembered that he was running through the city downtown.

But in any case, the danger seemed to have temporarily lifted?

Bucky breathed a sigh of relief.

At this moment, the young man at the counter leisurely walked around to him, his gaze constantly appraising Bucky, as if curious… it seemed a bit intrigued.

Unwittingly, Bucky met the young man’s eyes, and suddenly felt an indescribable sensation—those eyes reminded him subconsciously of Lucifer.

In his memory, Lucifer had once looked at him like this.

That look hidden within was indifferent… a lofty feeling as if gazing at mere ants.

“Hmm, dear guest, it seems you’ve been marked with a certain seal.” The young man smiled slightly, “I originally thought that guests like you wouldn’t come in… but.”

“But what?”

Hearing the young man mention “mark,” Bucky’s heart couldn’t help but jump… did this guy see something?

“First, let’s sit down and have a slow conversation. How about my shop serving the guest a refreshing flower tea?” The young man smiled gently, then tapped his hands softly against his ears.

A wooden stool resting at the side slowly moved next to Bucky. The young man made a gesture inviting him to sit.

Bucky opened his mouth. This scene… why is it so familiar.

“No need to be nervous, dear guest.” The woman with the cloth laid it down and smiled, “This is a place where anything can be purchased. Whatever you need can be found here. However, the currency used for transactions would also be something special…”

Before she could finish speaking, Bucky suddenly shivered and hastily said, “For example, using my soul or something, right?”

“It’s one of the currencies the guests can use for transactions.” The woman smiled slightly.

Bucky moved his lips: “Just as I thought… still the same… that familiar feeling…”

The young man and the lovely woman exchanged a curious glance. Suddenly, Bucky kicked aside the stool in front of him and sneered repeatedly: “Ha! Do you think I, Bucky, am some naive child? I’ve seen through tricks like these long ago!”

With that, he suddenly pointed at the young man: “I bet your true form is a monster with sharp teeth, moving on four legs, with a gaping bloody mouth!”

Then, he pointed at the beautiful woman, sneering again: “And you! Think you’re so pretty!! Without a doubt, you’re a rotten corpse with boils all over your body, emitting a foul stench, with only a few strands of hair on your head!! So!!”

“So?” the young man frowned slightly.

Bucky crossed his arms and snorted coldly: “Don’t think you can fool me! I’m not listening!”
