770: Chapter 14: Gray 770: Chapter 14: Gray “Is it the ‘water’ Hao?”

Facing this man’s self-introduction, Luo Qiu thought for a moment and suddenly asked.

Song Haoran paused, but considering that in his native tongue, the second character of his name indeed has many homophones, this confusion is quite normal.

However, it has been many years since he encountered such a question, and he naturally felt a bit surprised.

He smiled slightly, “It’s the ‘day above, sky below’ Hao.”

Luo Qiu said, “I see…

suddenly reminded of a certain joke.”

Song Haoran blinked in confusion.

He had very long eyelashes, lips a bit thin, and his complexion was fairer than the usual Eastern People, though not pale, giving a gentle impression.

Gentle yet not eerie, like a noble gentleman of jade, appearing very handsome.

“Are you here for a tour as well?” Luo Qiu shifted his gaze to the Brazilian iris potted plant nearby, reaching out to touch the deep blue flowers on the green leaves, resembling butterflies.

Song Haoran shook his head.

Luo Qiu guessed, “Then you work here?”

Song Haoran casually said, “Hmm, you could say so.

My company has some business here, so they sent me over to handle it… are you a student?”

He seemed to prefer taking the initiative, answering quickly and immediately asking questions with an assertive tone.

Strictly speaking, if he hadn’t dropped out, he would be in the first semester of his third year at university.

Moreover, Luo Qiu claimed he would continue his studies overseas after the new year, so the identity of a student was quite fitting.

He no longer looked at the plant called the Jade Butterfly, but focused on the handsome man in front of him, noticing a small scar on Song Haoran’s neck.

Yet, dressed in a suit with a collar, it was well-hidden, likely only showing occasionally when he moved carelessly.

The scar seemed to be from a sharp object, though the exact length was unknown.

Just thinking, Luo Qiu said, “I dropped out from the previous school, planning to choose a foreign school to complete my studies after the new year.

My family has agreed.”

“Is that so?” Song Haoran smiled but felt strange… if it’s just a chance meeting with a compatriot abroad, there’s no need to explain so much.

The young man spoke in much detail, unlike a conversation with a stranger, more like reporting to friends.

A very strange feeling.

In fact, Song Haoran did not merely stumble upon this place—he just happened to see this young man from the east in the flower shop, and after seeing his face, he felt an impulse to come over.

And after this simple exchange, Song Haoran found that this young man named Luo Qiu gave him a very special sense of closeness.

Of course, it could also be the familiarity of encountering fellow countrymen abroad, speaking in their native tongue—a feeling of kinship.

After hearing the name of the foreign school Luo Qiu mentioned, Song Haoran was quite surprised, saying, “This school is very prestigious; it’s not easy to get admitted.”

“Mr.

Song being entrusted by the company to negotiate here is already impressive,” Luo Qiu praised.

Song Haoran laughed heartily, suddenly feeling like they were old friends.

He waved his hand, “Alright, this seems a bit like mutual flattery between businesses, making the conversation pointless.”

Suddenly having a whimsical thought, without knowing why, Song Haoran checked his watch and proactively extended an invitation, “I still have some time.

It’s rare to meet fellow countrymen here, are you interested in having a meal?

Of course, it’s on me, as the host, since I’ve been living here for quite a while.”

“Is it okay?”

“Certainly.” Song Haoran nodded generously, “I like making various friends; it makes me feel my horizons are expanding.

The more friends you have, the more people know you, and your existence in this world becomes clearer, even after you pass away, left in many people’s memories.

Don’t you think it’s a wonderful thing?”

“Indeed.” Luo Qiu smiled ambiguously, “If possible, I have another friend.”

Song Haoran squinted, “Is it the lady buying flowers beside you?

Girlfriend?”

“Sort of,” Boss Luo responded.

Song Haoran seemed to realize this might be a relationship not yet fully developed, between friends and lovers—perhaps this duo of young people visiting here intends to transform this ambiguous relationship?

“Discussing interesting topics?” You Ye arrived with her pick, holding a bouquet of sunflowers wrapped by the flower shop owner, joining them, “Who is this gentleman?”

At this, Song Haoran showed a look of amazement, “What a beautiful person.

Luo Qiu, surely you wouldn’t mind introducing me to your lovely girlfriend?

There’s a nice Spanish restaurant ahead; I think you’ll like it.”

You Ye looked at her master.

Luo Qiu smiled, “Seems like we don’t need to worry about lunch anymore.”

…

Meanwhile, Caroline was fretting over what to eat for her lunch.

With a considerable fortune, she was promised that even the world’s finest ingredients could be savored freely.

Yet Caroline had no interest in such luxury at the moment—only feeling hunger, needing something to eat but unable to decide, somewhat lost, wandering alone down the slum streets.

Before this, after fruitlessly searching for last night’s mysterious shop, Caroline visited a hospital—or rather, a clinic without state certification.

But the doctor inside was skilled enough, earning Big Boss Neymar’s endorsement to conduct medical business here.

According to her contract, she traded her fertility as transaction currency for free engagement, earning a fortune… how exactly does one lose their fertility?

She had some examinations done in the clinic—because she wondered if her fertility had been quietly taken away without her knowing—after all, she had encountered Neymar’s subordinates, and they obviously didn’t recognize her.

She even possessed a large fortune.

The contents of that contract seemed to have come true one by one.

So thinking about it, it seemed she had reached the point where payment was due—although it was all overnight, the speed left Caroline unable to react.

But precisely because of such an incredible speed, Caroline felt that the other party might have taken away her only female capability without her knowing.

However…

“Can you have children?

I don’t have such examinations here!

If you want to do it, you can only go to the big hospitals outside!

Besides, you look a bit malnourished, you should pay attention to your eating habits!

Also, come here regularly for check-ups, don’t wait until that place festers to find me, it would disgust me!”

It was a very unpleasant-spoken doctor, but he cared deeply for every patient.

No matter who it was, as long as they were brought to this clinic, he would treat them, whether they could afford it or not—of course, those who couldn’t pay would later encounter his debt pursuing, and his methods couldn’t be considered peaceful.

At the same time, he was a very vile character and lived a very dissolute life, an old rascal.

Among Caroline’s acquaintances, many had been approached by this old rascal, even her tenant Livia—of course, this old rascal was indeed generous.

If she didn’t have her own rules about choosing customers, based solely on his generosity, Caroline thought she should have already had relations with this doctor.

“What would you like to eat?

The usual?”

Too hungry to bear, Caroline eventually went to a family-style restaurant she frequented and sat down.

She chose a window seat so she could easily observe the happenings on the street.

Previously, it was naturally for the convenience of spotting suitable clients… now, it was simply to see what was going on outside.

The news of Big Boss Neymar’s sudden death hadn’t completely spread.

But since last night, the entrance and exit points here had been controlled, so it wasn’t hard to guess something major had happened—today, the area was evidently much quieter.

Even the restaurant had fewer guests than usual.

Facing the staff’s inquiry, Caroline glanced at the menu and casually said, “Give me a vatapa (dish made with fish oil, shrimp, and coconut milk served with white rice and bread), and a lacaca (rich shrimp soup).”

The staff, who was obviously very familiar with Caroline’s eating habits, casually remarked, “Won’t you have a glass of draft beer?”

Caroline had intended to nod, but suddenly remembered that old doctor’s advice regarding her diet, so she shook her head, “No, just add a churrasco (grilled beef with tomato or onion sauce).”

The staff quickly wrote it down, then looked around the restaurant, suddenly mysteriously pulled out a chair and sat down, leaned in, and whispered, “Caroline, I have two hours off this afternoon, just got my paycheck yesterday, are you free, can I come over?”

“I’m not convenient these days, find someone else.” Caroline shook her head.

The staff looked disappointed, shrugged, and said, “Alright, no wonder you’re eating so much today… Wait, the chef will prepare it soon!

My little sweetheart, don’t worry, I won’t give you a hard time because you won’t do business with me, I’ll send you some fresh okra later!”

“Oh, Mario, you really are a kind person.” Caroline showed a sweet smile, “But you can go find Livia, I think she would welcome you.”

The staff named Mario whistled and quickly walked inside.

Caroline sighed, staring out the window.

At this moment, she had no special thoughts—or rather, too many thoughts at once, making it difficult to capture the focus among them.

She thought about that mysterious shop and the owner’s affairs, uncertain whether he would once again suddenly appear before her, then having terrible events like those in movies happen—such as him directly putting his hand into her body.

The thought sent chills down her spine.

She also wondered if, once all this was resolved, she should continue staying in this place.

She already had wealth unimaginable to others, so perhaps she could move to a better environment to live.

Or she should undergo a **** restoration surgery, after all, she was only eighteen, then find a suitable time to appear before some elites, maybe marry into a very good family… However, if indeed infertility is an issue, it would still be a big problem.

As for doing business… she had no such thoughts, Caroline didn’t feel she was business material, even with buying stocks, she had been deceived many times due to her lack of understanding.

So, buy properties, luxury cars, designer clothes, all kinds of luxury items?

Caroline realized that she suddenly couldn’t explain the source of her wealth—she didn’t even have anyone to back her, meaning in this chaotic place, she couldn’t protect her wealth.

Perhaps she should leave this country, head to a safer region, a place without warfare… To China, perhaps?

There are some Chinese here, she once did business with them, those men were proud when speaking about their country.

Caroline had once followed some foreign news, and her impression of China mostly stayed on the recent Olympics—it’s clearly a sports powerhouse.

Additionally, it’s a country that greatly cherishes its citizens, heard there was some evacuation event before, it was the only country that immediately excluded armed forces to terror…

Oh, it’s said that men in that country are quite welcoming of virgins?

But how could she get citizenship there?

She thought of many things, most of which she had never done or were far-fetched, and had only one notion but did not know specifically how to act.

“Caroline!

Caroline!”

It was Mario’s voice.

It turned out, at some point, Mario had already placed the cooked food in front of her.

“Huh?

You called me?” Caroline came back to her senses, “Sorry, I was thinking about something.”

“No problem, eat up!

I’m almost off work.” Mario made a flying kiss gesture toward Caroline, “Maybe you’ll see me when you get home, sweetie.”

Looks like he plans to go find Livia.

Caroline suddenly felt restless, all those thoughts and ideas in her mind vanished.

Mario’s words seemed to constantly remind her—that she was nothing more than a prostitute, who had no other survival skills besides selling her body, knew nothing, and couldn’t even plan her own life…
