771: Chapter 15: Scope Beneath the Sunlight 771: Chapter 15: Scope Beneath the Sunlight When you take a careful look, Song Haoran’s pupils aren’t purely black, but have a hint of jade-like deep green.

According to what he said, he’s not purely Chinese.

His father married a Spanish descendant, so he’s of mixed heritage. “I like Spanish food mostly because my mother made this type of cuisine for me when I was a child,” Song Haoran smiled and said, “Of course, Chinese food is also my favorite.

It’s just a pity that it’s not easy to find chefs here who can make authentic Chinese dishes.”

In this country, some descendants of Spanish people live here, so eating somewhat authentic Spanish cuisine isn’t difficult — of course, there’s a blend of local dietary culture in it as well.

One of Maid’s interests is naturally cooking, and at this moment, she was seriously studying the menu of a local Spanish restaurant.

Luo Qiu saw her eager expression and thought that his meals would probably revolve around Spanish cuisine in the near future?

Of course, food cooked by Maid always managed to let him find authenticity, and he’s experienced this many times. “So, Song Da Ge, did you not grow up in China since you were a child?”

The selected food hadn’t been served yet, but he had already had a long conversation with Song Haoran, during which the latter allowed Luo Qiu to change the way he addressed him.

Song Haoran took a sip of water, nodded, and said, “My father should be considered an overseas Chinese; his business is mainly here.

As for China, I did follow my father back a few times.”

He seemed to be recalling something, shrugged, and said, “Said it was to look for relatives, but unfortunately, we were never able to find them.”

Luo Qiu was intrigued, he enjoyed this feeling of slowly uncovering things: it felt like time was beginning to flow from him as the center, making his heart start to beat.

He could even feel the flow of blood in his body, this sensation gave him a pleasure other than seeing through the colors of the soul, somewhat similar to when he switched his perspective to Nero — where would that mischievous girl be now?

Perhaps he should find a time to switch perspectives.

Thinking so, Luo Qiu didn’t pause and asked, “So, Song Da Ge, are there any more relatives in China?”

Song Haoran smiled, feeling a sudden fondness for this young fellow, a sense of inexplicable closeness, “There are, but whether they’re still there I don’t know.

According to my father, he had an older brother, my uncle.

They were quite different in age.

However, they later lost contact due to some reasons, and my father drifted alone here to South America for development.”

Song Haoran glanced at the time on his watch and also casually looked at the street outside, then continued, “Later, my father also sent people back to inquire, and received some ambiguous information and clues.

Each time, he would take me back eagerly.

But the results were never satisfactory.

In recent years, my father’s health hasn’t been great, and the number of times he’s gone back has decreased.

The last time we went back was three years ago.

I do miss it… the crabs and xiao long bao from Shanghai.

You definitely can’t find anything like that here.”

Luo Qiu nodded, then lamented, “Even so, Song Da Ge, your Mandarin is really good.”

But Song Haoran said somewhat helplessly, “There’s no other way, my father is a nostalgic person, he insisted I learn.

Imagine, wherever I went to school or made friends, everyone spoke Latin American languages, but at home, I had to use Mandarin to communicate with my father.

Thinking about it really makes one feel a bit sad.” “You sound like you’re from the Jiangzhe region,” Luo Qiu chuckled. “My father said his ancestral home is around Suzhou,” Song Haoran nodded, but he couldn’t discern Luo Qiu’s accent… it was like a textbook-standard Mandarin.

As he spoke, Song Haoran suddenly moved a small decorative vase on the dining table, causing the orchid leaves inside to slightly shake.

It seemed to be to make more space on the table for the upcoming dishes.

The shaking leaves, now quietly concealed a suddenly lit up red dot.

He observed Luo Qiu and You Ye, seeing they didn’t notice, discussing whether to order more food, so he smiled and said, “Haven’t decided what to eat yet?

Why not ask someone like me with half Spanish blood?” “Then please recommend something, Song Da Ge.” Boss Luo smiled.

The red dot disappeared at this moment. …

The light source, transformed like silk threads, could only be seen in some shadowy places under various colored environments — its end was a precision instrument: an infrared sight.

The sight was naturally mounted on a sniper rifle.

The man had the locally common bronze-like complexion and was lying on the edge of a nine-story high building rooftop.

Yet, he wore outfits similar to a tourist’s, with a small earpiece positioned in his ear and a black briefcase next to him.

It’s evidently used to conceal the sniper rifle… with such a setup, there’s no doubt this Latin American man is waiting for his prey to appear.

But at this moment, he’s painfully covering his ear — because suddenly the earpiece emitted a burst of loud noise and cursing… a woman’s voice. “Oni!

Focus, or I’ll come back and beat you!

The strategist is having a meal in the restaurant with that pair, who knows why.

It might be something important, don’t mess it up!”

Evidently, the man holding the sniper rifle is called Oni.

He rubbed his ear helplessly, disapprovingly said, “I’m just saying hi to the strategist, no need to get so tense.

Just keep an eye on the target’s appearance.

And, Lluvia, weren’t you supposed to be monitoring the route of the target’s appearance?

How come you know I’m greeting the strategist?” “What’s it to you??”

Another explosive sound, evidently from the woman named Lluvia again shouting over the earpiece in an unusually loud voice.

Once again, Oni helplessly rubbed his ear but couldn’t help his curiosity, “By the way, Lluvia, do you know what the strategist is doing now?

Why is he suddenly having lunch with two strangers?

Speaking of which, the boy at the strategist’s table looks a bit like the strategist, doesn’t he?” “What do you mean like?” This time Lluvia’s voice seemed to return to normal.

Oni shrugged his head, then shrugged his shoulders, “Anyway, Eastern people all look similar…

Lluvia, are you free tonight?

I’ll come to your room.

The strategist doesn’t seem to be interested in you anyway.” “I could consider slicing off your reproductive organ.

I’ve heard if it’s freshly cut off and well-preserved, it can be sold as an organ, and I’m sure there will be buyers on the black market!”

Oni felt a chill down below and was utterly horrified at the thought of his stuff being attached to someone else, wondering in the future… who it would belong to? “Oh…

Lluvia, you know how I feel about you!

You’ve got to understand, how could a little figure like the strategist satisfy you?” “Deal with your pile of women at home first!

Of course, I could teach them the operation just now, and I’m sure they’d be delighted!” “Lluvia, don’t…” “Hmph…

Oni, the target has appeared!” Lluvia’s voice suddenly came through, low and steady.

Oni, who had been flirting with the woman named Lluvia, while actually being in another location, possibly observing through a telescope, immediately dropped his playboy demeanor and a sharp gleam flashed in his eyes.

He then began to adjust the sniper rifle’s scope. “Hey!

Taking this one down smoothly, the mission progress is… one third!

BOOM!” …

BANG——!

The staff stumbled about, hastily picking up the accidentally knocked over glass from the floor.

The guest seemed to have ordered a glass of tomato juice or something similar, as the crimson liquid spread across the floor.

At the window-side table, Luo Qiu and the others withdrew their gaze from the staff.

Song Haoran smiled and said, “Where were we just now?”

Luo Qiu reminded him, “Brother Song was talking about your adventure in the Amazon Jungle in search of some ruins.”

Compared to Luo Qiu, an ordinary university student, Song Haoran’s life seemed rather thrilling — he was recounting tales of his youthful adventures. “Yes, yes, the Amazon.” Song Haoran recalled, “Unfortunately, I didn’t encounter the legendary tribes of Amazonian warriors reputed to be all beautiful women.

Otherwise, I’m sure some wonderful stories would have happened!”

Boss Luo was curious, “Amazonian warriors, that’s a fabricated mythical story, right?”

Song Haoran responded, “Who knows?

Maybe someone really has seen them.

Even myths have their original sources.

Don’t you think many myth systems are too intricate to be mere products of imagination?” “What happened later?” Luo Qiu continued the topic. “Let me think…” Song Haoran continued recalling, “Of course, I didn’t encounter any female warriors, but I did come across a giant snake.

According to the Chinese saying, hasn’t this creature surely turned into a spirit?

Little Luo Qiu, can you imagine a snake with a body diameter of over three meters, three to forty meters long, with a strange black horn on its head, and impervious to gun or blade?

That terrifying creature swallowed several members of our expedition team whole back then!”

Became a spirit, Boss Luo glanced at the maid, conveying such information with his eyes.

The maid immediately looked at her master, relaying the same information: It has indeed become a spirit.

Song Haoran still seemed to have lingering fears, “Facing such a terrifying creature, the weapons we had on hand could not cause it any harm, and we had to flee from that place.

Later, we realized that the rumored ruins hidden in the jungle were merely nonexistent.” “That’s truly unfortunate.” Boss Luo sighed in response.

Song Haoran inquisitively looked at the pair, asking curiously, “Do you believe it?”

Luo Qiu smiled, “Brother Song, are you referring to the matter of the ancient civilization ruins, or the giant snake?”

Song Haoran was startled.

He, of course, meant the gigantic snake — such an enormous and utterly unique creature would certainly challenge ordinary people’s understanding.

But he didn’t expect this young man named Luo Qiu to break the question into two parts… or rather, did he believe everything in this story from the beginning? “Hahaha, I’m really starting to like you.” Song Haoran laughed heartily, “I’ve shared this story with a few people before, but apparently, they all just saw it as a beautiful lie I used to catch the attention of pretty women at parties.” “I’m just more interested in peculiar things.” Luo Qiu gave an explanation that wasn’t much of an explanation, “My major is paleontology.”

The staff began bringing out the aperitifs.

Song Haoran waved off the staff and personally uncorked the bottle, “Can you drink?” “A bit.” “Then try this, made from sugarcane, very sweet.” He then looked at You Ye, “I think even ladies would enjoy the taste.”

Just then, a loud noise suddenly came from outside the restaurant!

A black sedan, seemingly out of control, had suddenly crashed into a nearby shop — that loud noise was the sound of the black sedan hitting the shopfront!

The car’s front was caved in, and people around were looking on in horror… there were screams from women!

At this moment, a man in the driver’s seat opened the door, his forehead seemed to have hit something, bleeding profusely.

He struggled out of the front seat and quickly opened the back door of the car.

The driver, looking extremely terrified, was frantically saying something.

Meanwhile, he was pulling out a plump middle-aged man from the back seat, who remained motionless.

Any bystander close enough would notice that this plump middle-aged man had a small bleeding hole at his temple!

Clearly, this plump middle-aged man had been secretly assassinated!

The chaos spread among the crowd, screams echoed… the restaurant guests had obviously noticed this scene, and many ran to the window to watch, while some even stepped outside. “Looks like someone got killed.” Song Haoran suddenly remarked, “This kind of incident is quite common around here.

But for you guys, it might be a bit unsettling at first.

However, once you get used to it, you won’t feel it’s anything significant.

Besides…”

Luo Qiu looked at him.

Song Haoran, however, didn’t even glance outside, still pouring the sweet-tasting aperitif into the glasses with a very calm demeanor and remarkably steady hands.

Once the three glasses were filled halfway, Song Haoran picked up his own glass and gently clinked it with those of Luo Qiu and You Ye.

He smiled at the two of them and said softly, “Welcome to the City of God.”
