Chapter 296: Is it necessary to upgrade the H-6 bomber?Chapter 296: Is it necessary to upgrade the H-6 bomber?
Linjiang Province 077 Machinery Military Factory

Lin Chenran summoned a group of senior leaders of the 077 Mechanical Military Factory and a group of elite talents in the aerospace field in the factory to a meeting in the conference room.

They sat in a spacious and bright conference room to discuss the upgrade and modification plan for the H-6 bomber.

The Yan State Air Force attaches great importance to this work.

Special personnel have been carefully arranged to deliver some detailed design drawings of the H-6 bomber to the 077 Mechanical Arsenal.

A group of experienced and professional H-6 bomber engineers were also specially deployed to provide support.

After everyone was seated, Lin Chenran looked around the room with a sharp gaze, and then said in a steady and firm voice: ”Dear colleagues, what is in front of us is the basic design drawings of the H-6 bomber. Please take fifteen minutes to carefully review them.”

”Afterwards, I hope everyone can speak freely and put forward your ideas and suggestions on the modification of this bomber without reservation!” His words were concise and clear, and directly set the tone for the meeting.

As soon as the words fell, the participants quickly took action and opened the heavy documents about the H-6 bomber in their hands.

For a moment, the only sound in the entire conference room was the slight rustling of papers being turned.

Lin Chenran was naturally no exception. He was also fully focused on studying the information about the H-6 bomber.

Sometimes he frowned, as if thinking about something; sometimes he nodded slightly, as if agreeing with some parts.

In these short and tense fifteen minutes, everyone was racing against time to absorb the knowledge and inspiration from this precious material...

Time flew by like a white horse passing by, and fifteen minutes were gone in a flash.

Lin Chenran slowly raised his hands and gently patted his palms.

The crisp and light applause seemed to have some kind of magic, which suddenly ”pulled” everyone’s thoughts back from the dense and intricate design drawings of the H-6 bomber to the real world before their eyes.

His face was as calm as water, and he looked at everyone calmly, and said, ”Now everyone, please tell us what you think about this H-6 bomber design!”

Meng Chunping, the chief designer of the Dragon Shadow fighter jet who was sitting nearby, frowned tightly at this moment, and his already serious face became even more solemn.

He sighed deeply, and then said in a calm but slightly worried tone, ”General Lin, the performance of the H-6 bomber is really too backward.”

As soon as he finished speaking, all the senior executives of the 077 Machinery Military Factory and many engineers in the aerospace field nodded slightly in unison, expressing their high agreement with what Meng Chunping said.

In fact, before this, they had already clearly realized the relative backwardness of the H-6 bomber in terms of technology.

But when they actually faced these detailed design drawings, they found that their actual backwardness was far beyond their initial expectations.

The difficulties and challenges faced in comprehensively upgrading and renovating such an old model of bomber are undoubtedly enormous.

It is no exaggeration to say that the difficulty is almost equivalent to carefully designing and developing a brand new medium bomber from scratch.

Therefore, some senior executives of the 077 Mechanical Military Factory felt that there was no need to continue to spend huge amounts of resources and energy to upgrade the H-6 bomber.

To complete this work, it requires huge human, material and financial resources, and it is not certain to achieve satisfactory results. Since such a lot of trouble may not necessarily lead to ideal results, why not simply change the way of thinking?
Completely abandon the upgrade and transformation based on the original H-6 bomber.

Instead, it concentrated all available forces to re-plan and develop a completely new strategic-level new bomber.

The faces of the engineers who were working on the design and development of the H-6 bomber sitting nearby suddenly became a little unnatural.

In such an important and formal meeting occasion, no one would feel good that the project he led received such an evaluation.

Fortunately, at this time, Lin Chenran keenly noticed the subtle change in the atmosphere on the scene, and he immediately spoke to comfort them: ”Please don’t take it to heart. We are discussing the issue here today and we are definitely not targeting anyone.”

”Back then, our country was economically backward and poor, but you relied on your superb and outstanding professional skills, as well as your indomitable and never-give-up fighting spirit, and successfully designed and developed a medium-sized strategic bomber that completely belongs to our country from scratch!”

”This is simply a feat that is earth-shattering and soul-stirring, extremely admirable and beyond reach!
When Lin Chenran’s affectionate and heartfelt words reached everyone’s ears, the expressions of the H-6 bomber design and development engineers who originally had strange expressions on their faces began to soften slowly.

Just like the ice and snow in winter encountering the warm sunshine, they gradually melt away.

The awkward atmosphere and dissatisfaction that had previously permeated the air quickly disappeared without a trace, just like the morning mist meeting the rising sun.

At this time, one of the engineers stepped forward and said, ”General Lin, we sincerely hope to contribute to the upgrading and transformation of the H-6 bomber.”

As soon as he finished speaking, someone immediately echoed him: ”Yes!”

Then there was another firm and powerful response: ”That’s right!”

In this way, a group of predecessors who had participated in the design and development of the H-6 bomber spoke enthusiastically, vying to express the ardent and strong desire deep in their hearts.

Seeing this scene, Lin Chenran knew that now was the best time to boost morale.

So, with a smile on his face, he calmly stretched out his hands, gently waved them up and down a few times, signaling everyone to be quiet first.

After the scene calmed down a bit, he said confidently: ”I have deeply felt the persistence and faith in everyone’s hearts!”

”The subsequent upgrade and transformation of the H-6 bomber still depends on everyone’s concerted efforts.”

”As long as we unite as one and work together, I believe we will be able to present the H-6 bomber to the world in a brand new look!”

When Lin Chenran finished speaking, everyone immediately applauded.

Applause resounded throughout the conference room.

After the applause died down, Lin Chenran began to explain his suggestions for upgrading the H-6 bomber.

The first is the transformation of the fuselage.
