Building a Technological Power Starting with the Type 59 missile and Going Astray in Technological Development

Chapter 287: The giant ballistic missile is out of control after emerging from the water?Chapter 287: The giant ballistic missile is out of control after emerging from the water?

Under the dual squeeze of huge water pressure and air pressure, the Julang ballistic missile carrying countless expectations and missions just jumped out of the water and lost control like a wild horse, accompanied by a violent explosion.

”Mr. Lu, have you tried to find a solution from the material aspect?”

Lin Chenran frowned and asked seriously.

This question is like a sharp sword, piercing the core of the problem.

After Lin Chenran’s in-depth analysis, it was found that it was in that high-intensity air pressure environment that the launched Julang ballistic missile underwent severe deformation due to the ruthless pressure of water pressure. This deformation directly led to the disorder of its control system, and eventually caused it to lose control and the ensuing catastrophic explosion.

Hearing Lin Chenran’s question, Mr. Lu nodded slightly, indicating that they had also considered this direction.

”Yes! We have indeed considered the material issues of the Julang ballistic missile before, and have conducted a series of tests specifically for this purpose.”

”Regrettably, no matter how hard we tried different types of materials, the results we got were always unsatisfactory and all ended in failure.”

Mr. Lu’s words revealed deep helplessness and regret.

Just when everyone thought that these were all the problems, the meticulous Lin Chenran keenly noticed another key factor - the high temperature generated during launch.

According to the original expectations of the JLBM design team, the temperature generated at the moment of missile launch should be maintained at around 800 degrees Celsius.

But the actual situation was far beyond everyone’s imagination. The extremely hot temperature could melt everything.

”Temperature is also an important factor affecting launch.”

”Ok!”

Mr. Lu on the side kept nodding his head, his face full of appreciation, and he kept muttering: ”Not bad, not bad...”

Obviously he was very satisfied with Lin Chenran’s performance.

I have to say that Lin Chenran is really capable!
It only took about ten minutes to look through the complicated information, and one could clearly see the difficulties currently faced by the Julang ballistic missile.

Such keen insight and profound professional knowledge are truly admirable.

At this time, also paying attention to the problem was Yang Peidong, the head of the Tianzhu Missile Department.

He frowned slightly, his eyes fixed on the information in his hands, his brain working rapidly, trying to find a way to solve the failure of the JLW ballistic missile launch.

Time passed by minute by minute, and just when everyone was feeling a little anxious, suddenly, Yang Peidong seemed to be struck by lightning, and a flash of inspiration suddenly flashed through his mind.

His eyes lit up instantly, and he was secretly delighted: ”Got it!”

”We have a variety of special materials at the 077 Machinery Arsenal that meet the requirements.”

Thinking of this, Yang Peidong could no longer suppress his excitement and blurted out: ”General Lin, I suddenly remembered that our 077 Mechanical Military Factory has several different types of special materials, which should fully meet the various requirements of the Julang ballistic missile!”

Yang Peidong’s confident words were like a bombshell, exploding in the originally quiet conference room.

All the members of the Julang ballistic missile design team present opened their mouths in astonishment, and could not believe their ears.

You know, for so many years, they have racked their brains and searched everywhere for suitable special materials, but they have never been able to get what they want.

Either these materials cannot meet the demanding performance indicators of the Julang ballistic missile, or their prices are ridiculously expensive and prohibitive.

Now I hear Yang Peidong so confidently declare that he has found the suitable materials.

And it happened in their 077 Mechanical Military Factory. How could it not surprise the engineers of the Julang ballistic missile design team?
”Really?”

Mr. Lu widened his eyes in disbelief and suddenly stood up from his seat in excitement.

Because the movement was too fast, it created a gust of wind, and even a few documents on the table were blown away.

If the 077 Mechanical Arsenal really has relevant materials, it will undoubtedly play a crucial role in promoting the rapid development of the Julang ballistic missile.

The significance of this is self-evident.

At this time, Lin Chenran, who had been sitting next to him, quickly stood up, reached out and gently supported Elder Lu’s arm, and said softly, ”Elder Lu, don’t be too excited, your health is more important.”

After saying that, he turned around and scolded Yang Peidong with a hint of complaint: ”Engineer Yang, can you speak more steadily in the future? Don’t be so jumpy. Look how you have upset Mr. Lu!”

Hearing this, Yang Peidong, who was standing on the other side, blushed instantly. He quickly bowed deeply to Mr. Lu and said apologetically, ”Oh, I’m so sorry, Mr. Lu, it’s all my fault. I didn’t think it through. It’s my fault, my fault!”

At this moment, Mr. Lu obviously no longer cared about these things.

He looked at Yang Peidong eagerly and asked, ”Okay, okay! Now is not the time to pursue responsibility. Yang Gong, you just said that our 077 Mechanical Military Factory has a variety of special materials that meet the needs of the Julang ballistic missile. Is this true?”

When Mr. Lu asked the question, he subconsciously said the word ”we”, which was enough to show how anxious he was at the moment and how much he valued the JL Ballistic Missile.

Yang Peidong and Lin Chenran looked at each other first, and after exchanging glances, Lin Chenran nodded slightly, indicating that he agreed to let Yang Peidong continue.

Yang Peidong held his head high and said with pride: ”Mr. Lu, when it comes to the field of special materials, our 077 Machinery Military Factory is really the best!”

”We are in an absolute leading position in China and firmly hold the top spot; even if we look at the entire international stage, we are definitely among the best and at the forefront.”

A group of senior executives from the 077 Mechanical Military Factory nodded in agreement.

In the field of special materials, if we rank them by seniority, if the 077 Machinery Military Factory claims to be the second in the country, I am afraid that no other company would dare to rashly claim the title of first.

Its achievements and technological advantages in this field have left other peers far behind.

Even in the extremely competitive international market, the 077 Machinery Military Factory still plays an important role in the field of special materials, and is unique and dominant.

Then, Yang Peidong enthusiastically began to introduce in detail to the JL ballistic missile design team the various special composite materials currently being used by their Tianzhu missile department.

Yang Peidong methodically took out several samples of special composite materials one after another.

The performance characteristics, advantages and possible shortcomings of each material are explained clearly and concisely.

This operation convinced everyone present and they had to take a new look at the 077 Mechanical Military Factory’s expertise in the research and development of special materials.

After Yang Peidong introduced in detail the special composite materials owned by the 077 Mechanical Arsenal that fully met the requirements of the JL Ballistic Missile, all members of the JL Ballistic Missile design team instantly became entangled.

The reason is simple: all kinds of composite materials at the 077 Mechanical Military Factory are in perfect harmony with the needs of the JL ballistic missile.

Faced with so many high-quality choices, these experienced experts and engineers felt torn and had difficulty making a quick decision. Even Mr. Lu, who had been sitting at the side, frowned and looked troubled.

A barely perceptible look of surprise actually emerged on his usually calm face.

At this time, Mr. Lu had already understood in his heart how far-sighted and foresighted the decision made by the senior leaders of the Navy to merge the JLW ballistic missile design team into the 077 Mechanical Arsenal was. This seemingly bold decision contained much foresight.

The members of the JL Ballistic Missile design team all turned their gazes to Mr. Lu, their eyes filled with eager anticipation.

Let Mr. Lu pick out a material for the Julang ballistic missile from this dazzling pile of materials.

Mr. Lu understood instantly and got the hint.

Understand what everyone is thinking!
……

So, Mr. Lu slowly turned around, his face full of worry. He couldn’t help but sighed deeply:
”Lin, you’ve really given me a big problem this time. I’m at a loss now and I don’t know what to do.”

“Is this the trouble of happiness?”

”Oh, if I had known earlier that our 077 Mechanical Arsenal has such a wide variety of composite materials with excellent performance.”

”I brought my entire team here directly, which saved me from a lot of unnecessary troubles and worries.”

After saying that, Mr. Lu shook his head helplessly.

At this moment, the entire conference room suddenly erupted in laughter, and the atmosphere instantly became relaxed and joyful.

That’s true. If the JL ballistic missile design team had been able to decisively integrate directly into the 077 Mechanical Arsenal, perhaps the launch of the JL ballistic missile would have been a complete success now, instead of losing control the moment it broke out of the water, followed by a violent explosion as happened before.

”Mr. Lu, you guys really misunderstood us!”

Yang Peidong smiled bitterly and patiently explained, ”A few years ago, our 077 Machinery Military Factory was just a small third-tier factory that was about to face bankruptcy.”

”Where could it be so magnificent and powerful as it is now?”

In 1985, the 077 Machinery Military Factory was on the verge of bankruptcy and was in its most difficult phase.

The research and development of special composite materials that accompanies it is also progressing slowly but is still in its infancy.

How is it possible to provide special composite materials for the Julang ballistic missile!

……

The meeting lasted for more than two hours, and Lin Chenran asked Yang Peidong to lead the JL ballistic missile design team to the ”front line”.

Personally search for the most suitable special composite materials for the Julang ballistic missile.

The high-ranking leaders of the Yan State Navy sent Mr. Lu to the 077 Mechanical Arsenal not just for the Julang ballistic missile.

We also hope to improve the Julang ballistic missile.

The range of the Julang ballistic missile has been increased.

Although the current Julang ballistic missile has a certain combat capability, it is limited to the Asian waters due to its range of only 2700 kilometers.

Such limitations make it difficult to cope with global threats and are far from meeting the Yan Navy’s needs for strategic deterrence.

Therefore, it has become a top priority to significantly increase the range of the JL-2 ballistic missile so that it can achieve effective strikes on a global scale.

The senior leaders of the Yan State Navy are well aware that only with a strong military force as a backing can they stand tall on the international stage and effectively deter those forces that have ulterior motives towards Yan State.

……

Lin Chenran had just stepped into his office with a slightly tired body. Before he could catch his breath, the phone on his desk rang rapidly like a death warrant.

”Ring ring ring!”

The clear and loud ringing of the bell broke the brief silence in the house.

Lin Chenran frowned slightly, stretched out his right hand and gently patted his cheeks a few times, trying to wake himself up quickly from his slightly confused state.

Then he walked quickly to the desk, reached out and grabbed the phone that was still ringing.

”Hello! I’m Lin Chenran! Who are you?” His voice was lazily and doubtful.

Then, a familiar voice came from the other end of the phone, like a thunder exploding in Lin Chenran’s ears.

”Lin boy, it’s me!” The other party’s tone revealed the majesty and kindness unique to elders.

Hearing this voice, Lin Chenran straightened his back instantly, and the tiredness on his face was swept away, replaced by incomparable respect: ”Hello, Mr. Zhang!”

”Well, how was it? This time, I was in charge of receiving the design team of the Julang ballistic missile. Did the whole process go smoothly?”

Mr. Zhang asked straight to the point, his words revealing his concern for the progress of the work.

Before Lin Chenran could answer, Zhang Lao immediately asked, ”Do you have any good solution for the problem of the Julang ballistic missile losing control and causing a violent explosion the moment it emerged from the water?”

Facing Elder Zhang’s barrage of questions, Lin Chenran did not dare to be negligent and quickly said, ”Elder Zhang, there is already some clue!”

”Mr. Lu has already selected suitable special composite materials for the Julang ballistic missile in our 077 Mechanical Arsenal.”

Today, Yan Country’s second-generation strategic nuclear submarine has entered an intensive design stage, with tight time and arduous tasks.

As one of the senior leaders of the Yan State Navy, Mr. Zhang naturally paid close attention to the design progress of the Julang ballistic missile.

The successful development of this new weapon and equipment will greatly enhance the strategic deterrence capability of the Yan State Navy, and its importance is self-evident.

Therefore, it is understandable that Mr. Zhang is so eager to learn about the latest developments of the project.

If the JL-2 ballistic missile has not been developed by then, but the second-generation strategic nuclear submarine has been built.

By then there will be nuclear submarines but no ballistic missiles.

There are guns but no bullets!!!
