Building a Technological Power Starting with the Type 59 missile and Going Astray in Technological Development

Chapter 263 Air ShowChapter 263 Air Show
Wang Yun stood on the sidelines, staring at the Dragon Shadow Fighter Demonstration Team as they made preparations.

As he watched his team members methodically checking fighter planes and debugging equipment, he became more and more excited and confident about the wonderful performance that was about to begin.

”Captain Duan, the next aerial flight show depends entirely on you!” Wang Yun smiled and solemnly entrusted Captain Duan.

”Captain Duan, this performance is crucial. I hope you can perform at your best.”

Duan Peng nodded seriously, but still answered honestly: ”Boss Wang, don’t worry, we will do our best.”

”However, there are various uncertainties in flying, and I dare not give you a 100% guarantee. I can only say that I will do my best to complete this performance.”

Hearing this, Wang Yun understood that the flight show was indeed faced with many variables and it was impossible to force an absolutely perfect result. So he patted Duan Peng on the shoulder and said, ”Okay, I’ll leave it to you all!”

Soon after, Lin Chenran and Wang Yun were seen walking towards the audience seats together, talking and laughing.

At this time, the auditorium was already crowded and full. People came from all directions just to witness the wonderful performances of aircraft from various countries with their own eyes.

At this moment, the host’s exciting voice came from the radio: ”Dear audience friends, let us applaud and welcome the MiG-29 flight team from the Bear Country!”

As soon as the words fell, the pilots of the Bear Country swiftly boarded the MiG-29 fighter jets and quickly made final preparations before takeoff.

They are all vigorous and heroic, as if they are ready to soar into the sky to show their prowess at any time.

Lin Chenran looked closely and suddenly discovered that one of the Russian pilots was holding a small water bottle in his hand.

This detail made him feel a little surprised. He couldn’t help rolling his eyes and muttered to himself: ”Is this vodka?”

Because the distance was too far, Lin Chenran could only take a rough look and felt that it was 80% likely ”vodka”.

It has been rumored internationally that Russian pilots always drink a little wine before flying.

Drinking a little alcohol can improve their fighting power to a higher level.

……

The members of the Russian Bear Flight Demonstration Team boarded the MiG-29 fighter jets in a heroic manner. With the deafening roar of the engines, the fighter planes soared into the sky like an arrow.

In an instant, it drew a graceful and sharp arc in the air and began a wonderful performance.

The people in the audience instantly became excited, with cheers and screams rising one after another, as if they were going to overturn the entire venue.

Especially the common people of Yan Country, they opened their eyes wide, their faces filled with excitement and curiosity.

For them, this was the first time in their lives that they witnessed foreign fighter jets take off and fly freely in the sky at such close range.

At this moment, a familiar voice came into Lin Chenran’s ears: ”Lin boy, what do you think of this MiG-29 fighter?”

Lin Chenran turned around abruptly and saw that the person standing in front of him was none other than Old Wei.

He couldn’t help but be surprised, because Mr. Wei actually appeared in the audience today in casual clothes to watch the performances of flight demonstration teams from various countries.

”Mr. Wei! Why are you…”

Lin Chenran was so surprised that he couldn’t speak clearly.

”It will be here! There are so many people here, what if something happens to you?”

Thinking of the possible dangerous situations, Lin Chenran’s heart was in his throat.

However, Mr. Wei smiled slightly and hushed softly, signaling Lin Chenran not to be too nervous.

Then, he put one hand to his mouth and made a silencing gesture, while at the same time he put his other hand on Lin Chenran’s shoulder affectionately and said, ”Don’t make such a fuss. Today I am just an ordinary old man, enjoying the flight performances of the flight demonstration teams from various countries.”

”But...your...”

Lin Chenran smiled bitterly. You are awesome!

Elder Wei frowned slightly, staring at Lin Chenran, and asked in a slightly heavier tone: ”Why didn’t you answer the question I asked you just now?”

Lin Chenran shook his head gently, there was no expression on his handsome face at the moment, as if he had already made up his mind about this topic.

Then he said calmly: ”The MiG-29 fighter is far inferior to its sister model, the Su-27 fighter!”

When saying this, Lin Chenran’s eyes revealed a hint of disdain.

Lin Chenran really looked down on the MiG-29 fighter jet.

Although it is classified as a third-generation fighter, in reality, it can hardly be called excellent in all aspects of performance.

This aircraft is essentially just a third-generation fighter used for homeland air defense.

To put it bluntly, it has many shortcomings, such as extremely small combat radius, limited ammunition capacity, etc.

Normally, only when the MiG-29 and Su-27 fighters cooperate with each other to form a high-low combination can they fully demonstrate their due combat effectiveness.

If the MiG-27 loses its Su-29 fighter as a partner, its combat effectiveness will be greatly reduced.

Looking back, the Yan Country Air Force planned to purchase a batch of third-generation fighter jets from the Russian Bear to enhance its own strength.

The Russian side strongly recommended their own MiG-29 fighter jets to them.

But Yan State only wants the Su-27 fighter jets and does not want the MiG-29 fighter jets.

But the Russian side does not intend to sell Su-27 fighter jets to Yan Country.

After some consideration, the Yan Country Air Force finally decided not to purchase this third-generation fighter.

The main reason is that this third-generation fighter has too many shortcomings.

Later, the Yan State Air Force strongly supported the domestically produced third-generation fighter jets.

”Mr. Wei, if I have to choose, I would rather choose the Dragon Shadow fighter of our 077 Mechanical Arsenal than the MiG-29 fighter of the Russian bear, mainly because it has more shortcomings than ours.”

Lin Chenran shook his head and rejected the Russian MiG-29 fighter jet from the bottom of his heart.

”No wonder you have been against the military’s purchase of MiG-29 fighter jets.”

Mr. Wei suddenly realized.

”Mr. Wei, why did the Russians send MiG-29 fighter jets to participate in the large-scale weapons and equipment exhibition held in our country? It was to attract customers from other countries to place orders for purchases.”

Lin Chenran saw clearly the little tricks of the Russian bear.

……

The flight performances of various countries have been completed, and it is Yan Country’s turn next.

The J-7 fighter jet performed a flight demonstration first, which attracted cheers from the people of Yan State.

But for delegations from other countries, it was not quite right.

After the J-7 fighter flight demonstration team finished their performance, it was the turn of the Longying fighter jets from the 077 Mechanical Arsenal to take the stage.

”The Dragon Shadow fighter jet is about to start its flight show!”
