Chapter 628: To The Temple Of Nature! Part-3.

When Lia and the others reached the ’Temple of Nature,’ the other fairies present there were shocked and excited to see such a massive lion visiting their temple!

”Waahh!! You look so strong!”

”You are so big and tall!!!”

”Are you a divine spirit?”

Dozens of fairies swarmed around Kai and started pestering him like annoying, stubborn mosquitoes that refused to leave!

Seeing that they were going to pester him continuously, Kai put the folks riding on his back down and then turned back into his cat form, surprising everyone.

He then jumped on Lia’s shoulder and started pretending to sleep!

Seeing this, Lia shook her head in helplessness and smiled at the fairies to apologize for Kai’s rude behavior.

”Come on, Lia! I will show you around!”

Miria flew in front of Lia excitedly as she led the way forward.

The main road leading to the entrance of the temple was made of clean and shiny white stones arranged in a beautiful pattern.

There were tall trees and small clear ponds on both sides of the road; flower petals would get swept in the wind and fall on the crystal-clear water of the ponds, making them look beautiful.

There were even some stylish fountains and various other decorative statues of fairies.

On the main entrance, the words ’Temple Of Nature’ were engraved in gold!

’So, fairies pray to ’Nature’ for good luck?’

Hearing Lia’s question, Kai nodded his head and replied in his usual calm voice,

[Yeah... Just like Elves believe in the ’World Tree’ and consider it their ’God,’ Fairies pray to the ’Natural World Order,’ ’Nature,’ and the ’World’ itself...]

[They believe that the ’World’ is a sentient existence and if you pray to it, you will get blessed with good luck...]

’I see... so Elven belief systems are a remnant of such a long-gone era when people used to have faith and beliefs like this...’

[Yup... before the appearance of the first demi-gods, various religions and belief systems were prominent in the world...]

[King Allen destroyed it all by becoming the First Awakener to become a demi-god! People’s thoughts changed; everyone started thinking that if they themselves can become gods, then there is no need to pray to anyone else...]

[Mentalities change as the era changes; with the rise of the world alliance era, the past was forgotten by all...]

Lia had seen temples dedicated to the world tree in the Elven empire, so she knew that faith in higher beings and personal belief in gods still exist even in this age and era.

But it’s not as prominent nowadays as it once used to be.

’Perhaps the fairies still also believe in the ’World’ and ’Nature’ today...’

[It’s possible, but I have no idea as I haven’t met any since they all migrated to the hidden space in the dragon valley...]

[By the way... aside from the ’world tree’ and the ’world,’ there were also quite a few other religions back in those times but most of them were forgotten by the people and disappeared in the annals of history...]

[The thousand-year war caused tremendous destruction to the entire world and many races and their cultures and religions went extinct in that cataclysmic war...]

Kai raised his head and looked at the grand temple of the ’Natural Order’, and spoke in a solemn tone,

[The most famous religion of that time was actually the faith in ’Heavenly Will’... as you know, the will of heaven is what decides everyone’s fate and destiny...]

[It was one of the most powerful faith systems at one time and its believers were the biggest target for the demon race... those people... they suffered a lot...]

The ’Path’ of belief and faith is counted among one of the most difficult ’Paths’ in this world; walking on it was never going to be simple.

Demons, miasma, and corruption tried every possible method to destroy those who dared walk on these difficult ’Paths.’

”Look, that’s the ’Fountain of Elemental Life!”

Just when Lia was stuck in a daze, Miria pointed in the direction of a gigantic fountain in the center of the front garden of the temple.

The fountain was filled with all kinds of dense elements, and the density of mana around it was so pure that Lia instantly snapped out of her daze and stared at it with a look of surprise in her eyes.

[Hoh... so that’s what the legendary artifact, the great ’Fountain of Elemental Life,’ used to look like in real life...]

[To think that this legendary artifact once used to be real...]

’The mana and elementals are so dense around it that they have turned into liquid and are flowing like water through it, making it seem like a fountain...’

’Just the aura of this artifact is so powerful...’

While Lia and Kai were shocked and fascinated, Lyria and Miria led Lia close to the fountain where several other fairies were present and spoke in an excited tone.

”This is the place where almost all elemental fairies have been born from!”

”This is our holy mother!”

Elemental fairies are creatures that are made of concentrated elementals and mana with a soul and a mind of their own; they do not have reproductive organs, and they do not have the concept of mating and having children.

Elemental fairies are already adults from the very moment they are born into the world!

The holy artifact of the fairy race, the fountain of elemental life, creates the most ideal environment for fairies to be born, and nearly all elemental fairies in the entire Fairyland have been born through this single holy artifact!

That’s why they revere this artifact almost as if it’s their mother!

Of course there are other ways for fairies to be born, such as natural birth from natural world phenomena movement.

In this scenario, when the elemental density and the spatial fluctuations in a place are just right enough, fairies end up being born out of that dense elemental reaction with the help of the natural world order itself!

But this phenomenon is almost as rare as the beginning of new life from literally nothingness, so it’s very unreliable, and the odds of it happening are extremely low too.

Thus, the ’Fountain of Elemental Life’ is the most reliable source of life for the fairy race.
