Rebirth: Starting with 10 Billion Us Dollars

133: Chapter 133 Award CeremonyPerhaps the official authorities had seen the news online;

A few days later, the authorities actually released news that they were going to select the Scientist of the Year and even sent an invitation to Chen Mo. However, as soon as this news came out, it immediately sparked massive controversy.

Many foreign media outlets and overseas internet trolls took the opportunity to stir up trouble, flocking online to wantonly smear Chen Mo. Various personal attacks, rumors, and slanders emerged one after another. Even his technological achievements and commercial identity were maliciously blackened, causing a huge uproar.

”A businessman is worthy of being called a scientist? What a joke!”

”Tianxing’s technology must be stolen; Chen Mo is just an opportunist!”

”Businessmen chase profits; how could they possibly devote themselves to scientific research? There’s definitely something fishy going on!”

Chen Mo looked at the chaos online and didn’t take it to heart at all. With the Artificial Intelligence watching, if things went too far, the AI would initiate procedures to handle it.

However, Yang Mi and Wu Dongju couldn’t stand it any longer. The two of them quietly formed an anti-troll team to confront the haters online. They even followed the clues to drag out the ringleaders, discovering that it was indeed overseas forces pulling the strings behind the scenes.

Yang Mi took the investigation report to Chen Mo and said angrily:

”Chen Mo, look, it’s all the work of those overseas-supported dragon haters! They’re deliberately hiring trolls to smear you!”

Chen Mo scanned the report with a calm expression. He then summoned a female intelligent robot that looked no different from an ordinary person and spoke:

”Leave this matter to her. Her name is Zhang Di; she’s my new secretary, helping me manage trivial matters.”

When Yang Mi saw the female robot’s figure—especially those two massive peaks that were actually larger than her own—she gave Chen Mo a disgruntled look but said nothing as she handed the report over to her.

That day, in the middle of the night, a giant meteorite crashed within the borders. Chen Mo had already locked onto its trajectory via his private satellite and was instantly intrigued. He knew that meteorites often contained rare materials not found on Earth, which were key to developing high-end equipment.

Chen Mo immediately called upon two other intelligent robots, Terminator and World Destroyer, and took Zhang Kai and Wu Dongju to rush to the crash site. Old Xu had been sent abroad to oversee work. The group managed to successfully transport the thousand-pound meteorite away before the authorities arrived.

The outer layer of the meteorite had long since been burned away, leaving only a pitch-black shell emitting a pungent odor. After bringing it back to the manor laboratory, the two robots skillfully completed the analysis and issued a detection report overnight.

By this time, Chen Mo had been busy all night and fell asleep on the sofa from exhaustion. Zhang Kai and Wu Dongju stood guard nearby, staying awake all night. Su Yingxue, not yet fully recovered, had already returned to her room to rest.

At dawn, the report was transmitted to the screen in the main building’s living room. Zhang Kai hurriedly shook Chen Mo awake gently and said:

”President Chen, the report is out!”

Chen Mo rubbed his eyes, stood up to look at the report, and then said excitedly:

”I found it! I finally found this rare material! Even the substances that America struggled to find during the moon landing are in this meteorite; we’ve even discovered dark matter energy!”

Upon hearing this, Zhang Kai and Wu Dongju were also filled with joy.

On the other side, the preparations for the Scientist of the Year award ceremony were nearing their end. Chen Mo, this unique ’businessman-scientist,’ was about to stand on the podium under the gaze of millions.

On the day of the award ceremony, the venue was decorated in a solemn and grand manner. The audience was filled with titans of academia, big shots from the business world, and various media outlets. The event was being broadcast live online; as soon as the camera panned across the scene, the live stream’s chat began to flood the screen.

The host held the microphone and said in a resonant voice:

”Next, let us use our warmest applause to invite this year’s Best Scientist award winner:

Mr. Chen Mo to the stage to receive his award!”

The spotlight instantly hit Chen Mo, and he walked onto the podium with a calm expression.

The presenter was a highly respected elder in the academic community. He personally handed the medal and certificate into Chen Mo’s hands, shaking his hand with emotion as he said:

”President Chen, you have brought great glory to our country’s scientific community. This award is well-deserved!”

”Thank you, Elder. This is only what I should do.”

Chen Mo bowed slightly and spoke modestly.

In the Tianxing Live room, netizens were also flooding the chat:

”Holy crap! President Chen really went up to accept the award! He’s so cool!”

”Well-deserved! Tianxing Technology crushes foreign brands; this Best Scientist award could belong to no one else!”

”Where are those haters from before? Come out and look! So what if he’s a businessman? He still produced top-tier technology!”

”Even the authorities have given their seal of approval. Those trolls and haters can shut their mouths now!”

”Chen Mo is awesome! Our Dragon Country actually has such an all-around big shot!”

”Seeing the academic elder value President Chen so much is enough to prove President Chen’s strength!”

”If anyone says Chen Mo isn’t worthy again, I’ll be the first to lose it! He’s holding up the face of domestic technology!”

”This scene is so hype! The way Chen Mo is holding that medal, he’s simply the pride of the nation!”

”The people who were blackening Chen Mo before must have swollen faces from being slapped! Official certification—it’s beyond dispute!”

”Waiting for those haters to apologize! Chen Mo used his strength to slap their faces hard!”

”Tianxing Technology is awesome! Chen Mo is awesome!”

”Awesome +1”

”Awesome +10086”

After the awarding segment ended, it moved into the reporter Q&A session. Domestic reporters flocked forward, all wanting to get close to the pride of the nation. Their questions were full of recognition and praise, and Chen Mo answered them all calmly one by one.

At that moment, a foreign media reporter squeezed to the front, holding a microphone and asking in a biting tone:

”Mr. Chen Mo, the outside world says you are just a profit-seeking businessman and don’t count as a scientist at all. Are your so-called technological achievements stolen from advanced foreign technology? And as a businessman, did you use back-door dealings to get this award?”

As soon as these words came out, the venue fell silent instantly. The expressions of the guests turned grim, and the netizens in the live stream exploded with comments attacking the foreign reporter.

”Bullshit! This foreign reporter is looking for trouble on purpose! So disgusting!”

”Sour grapes! They can’t stand to see talent emerging from our Dragon Country, so they’re being difficult on purpose!”

”Stolen technology? Which of the tianxing third generation or the new laptops doesn’t crush foreign ones? He’s lying through his teeth!”

”Back-door dealings? This is an officially hosted award ceremony; who are you to spread rumors here?”

”Get out! This isn’t a place for you to act wild. Deliberately picking a fight is too shameless!”

”Typical double standards! When foreign businessmen do research, they’re geniuses; when we do it, it’s theft? Ridiculous!”

”President Chen, don’t indulge him! Fire back hard! Teach him how to speak!”

”Overseas forces are starting trouble again. They can’t stand to see us doing well; how malicious!”

”This reporter probably took money from foreign capital to deliberately smear President Chen!”

Chen Mo looked at the foreign reporter and said coldly:

”First of all, all of Tianxing Technology’s techniques are independently developed, and every patent is verifiable. Your so-called ’theft’ is nothing more than your jealousy and delusions after falling behind.”

”Secondly, a scientist’s worth is never determined by their background. Whether a businessman or a scholar, if they can contribute to the nation’s technology and push the industry forward, they deserve this award. As for you, instead of focusing on the technology itself, you only know how to engage in malicious smearing. Doesn’t that seem a bit too narrow-minded?”

As his voice fell, thunderous applause erupted in the venue. The guests nodded in approval, and the live stream chat also praised Chen Mo.

The foreign reporter was left speechless by the rebuttal. He opened his mouth but didn’t say another word, slinking away in embarrassment.

Seeing this, the host immediately smoothed things over and ended the Q&A session.
