Rebirth: Starting with 10 Billion Us Dollars

105: Chapter 105, International Version, is being targeted. The next day, as dawn broke, Chen Mo extracted himself from a tangle of slender arms and rubbed his aching lower back.

Going downstairs to the living room, he saw Liu Yifei and Dilraba Dilmurat eating breakfast.

”You’re finally awake!” Liu Yifei said with a smile as she watched Chen Mo come downstairs rubbing his waist, handing him a glass of milk.

”Dilraba got up early and told me that the Tianxing Short Video International Edition, which launched last night, has caused quite a stir online.”

With her mouth stuffed with a bun, Dilraba Dilmurat said indistinctly:

”I’m just curious, the international edition is so popular!”

As soon as Tianxing Short Video International Edition went online, it didn’t just cause a sensation overseas; domestic netizens were also in an uproar. The comment section turned into a battlefield as the Little Pinks and dragon haters argued incessantly.

”This short video app is ten times better than Vine! President Chen is awesome, taking the fight right to America’s doorstep and making us proud!”

”Dragon Country’s technology has truly stood up this time! They used to have us by the throat, but now it’s our turn to strike back!”

”Indeed! Congratulations to President Chen on expanding overseas again!”

”What’s there to brag about? Isn’t it just a copy of Vine? If you’re so capable, come up with something original!”

”Exactly. They’re probably using American technology anyway. Stop pretending to be a big shot!”

”dragon haters, get lost! All of Tianxing’s code was written by President Chen himself, and the patents are clear as day. If you’re blind, go get your eyes checked!”

”They’re killing it overseas because of their strength! All you people can do is sit behind a keyboard and smear your own kind!”

”Just wait and see. They’ll be sanctioned by the US sooner or later. Let’s see how arrogant you are then!”

”So what if they’re sanctioned? President Chen even harvested Wall Street; why would he be afraid of them?”

On the other side, in the Vine office, Jason stared at the plummeting user data on his computer with a grim expression.

He, who had previously been so arrogant with his nose in the air, was now panicking inside!

If this continued, Vine would eventually be swallowed by Tianxing until not even the scraps remained.

After much deliberation, he finally lowered his stance and leaked to the American media:

”I plan to personally visit Dragon Country to have a proper talk with Tianxing Technology.”

Once this news reached home, the arguments that hadn’t yet subsided flared up again:

”Hahaha, is Jason softening his stance?”

”Wasn’t he quite bossy before? He even demanded 10 billion in compensation!”

”Serves him right! Let him know that our Dragon Country is no pushover. President Chen needs to take him down a peg or two!”

”Take him down? Just settle quickly! Don’t let us get dragged into more US sanctions!”

”Do dragon haters have something wrong with their heads? President Chen is standing firm for the dignity of Dragon Country’s enterprises. What do you know?”

Within two days, Jason arrived in Dragon Country stealthily. He didn’t dare bring his previous legal team or master programmers, arriving with only two assistants like a stray dog.

As soon as he landed, he hurriedly called Zhang Kai, his attitude extremely humble, completely devoid of his former arrogance:

”Mr. Zhang, please help me out. I’d like to request a meeting with President Chen to discuss a settlement in person.”

Although Zhang Kai sneered inwardly, he spoke politely:

”Alright, I’ll pass the word along for you. But President Chen has been very busy lately; I can’t guarantee you’ll be able to see him.”

After arriving at the company, Jason was led to the reception room of Tianxing Short Video. He waited for an entire day without catching even a glimpse of Chen Mo.

In truth, Chen Mo wasn’t busy with anything else; he was just spending time playing with several women. He didn’t take it seriously after receiving Zhang Kai’s call, continuing with whatever he was doing.

Jason was restless, calling Zhang Kai from time to time to ask:

”Mr. Zhang, when exactly will your President Chen be free? I’ve been waiting all day.”

Zhang Kai answered the phone and said leisurely:

”Oh, you mean President Chen! His schedule is packed. Please wait patiently; being anxious won’t help right now.”

Jason felt aggrieved but had no choice.

He was the one begging Chen Mo now, not the other way around. He could only swallow his pride.

The next day, Liu Yifei went straight to Chen Mo’s manor.

”Chen Mo, Jason has been waiting at the company for a day. Since ancient times, our Dragon Country has been a land of etiquette; keeping him hanging like this isn’t right. What if it affects our international reputation?”

Chen Mo was playing with his phone on the sofa in the manor’s main living room. Without looking up, he said:

”What’s wrong with that? When he was slamming the table demanding 10 billion and forcing us to take down our software, why didn’t he think about etiquette?”

Liu Yifei said:

”I know he was out of line before, but I’m joining a film crew tomorrow. There will be no one at the company to keep an eye on him, and I’m afraid he’ll talk nonsense outside and affect our international reputation.”

Chen Mo put away his phone, looked up at her, and said with a smile:

”What’s the rush? Let him hang for another two days to teach him a good lesson.”

Liu Yifei pouted and said, pretending to be angry:

”You only know how to bully me. You don’t care at all about how hard I have to work on set while also worrying about company matters.”

Chen Mo laughed, reached into his pocket, and pulled out a car key, handing it to her. ”For you. This is a car I specially had Tianxing Motors customize for you. It’ll be convenient and comfortable for your filming and company runs.”

Liu Yifei’s eyes lit up. Taking the key, she said happily, ”Is this Tianxing’s latest model?”

”Yes, the latest model. It’s already parked in the garage. Go try it for yourself.”

Holding the key, Liu Yifei dashed out to test the car.

A short while later, a black luxury car pulled up steadily at the manor’s entrance. She leaned out and said with a smile:

”Chen Mo, thank you! I love it so much! The handling is amazing! It truly lives up to being a high-end custom car produced by our own Tianxing!”

In the evening, Liu Yifei insisted on dragging Chen Mo to a movie date. ”Come on, I’m joining the film crew soon. Just relax with me; this movie is supposed to be great!”

Chen Mo shook his head helplessly. Unable to refuse her, he had no choice but to go along.

After putting on makeup, wearing masks and baseball caps, they blended into the crowd and quietly finished watching a movie. No one recognized them as the big shot Chen Mo, who had stirred up the financial and tech worlds, and the superstar Liu Yifei.

By the time Chen Mo leisurely arrived at the company, it was already the afternoon of the third day.

These past few days, Jason had been coming to the Tianxing Short Video company on time every day, more punctual than an employee.

As soon as he saw Chen Mo, he immediately stood up and said in a humble tone:

”President Chen, I have come this time to sincerely apologize! I was wrong before; I was too arrogant. Vine is willing to pay 10 billion USD in compensation and will publish a public apology in mainstream media in both Dragon Country and the US. Let’s settle and work together for a win-win, alright?”

Chen Mo walked to the head of the table and sat down, crossing his hands on the table, and spoke flatly:

”Cooperation? I’m not interested.”

Jason was stunned, the expression on his face freezing:

”Then what do you mean?”

”I want to acquire Vine.”

Chen Mo said nonchalantly.

He then tossed a letter of intent for the acquisition onto the conference table.

Jason’s face instantly turned bright red, and he pointed directly at Chen Mo, roaring:

”Impossible! Vine is an American company. It’s absolutely impossible for it to be acquired by you people from Dragon Country!”

Chen Mo sneered and said contemptuously:

”You either agree to be acquired, or you watch as Tianxing slowly squeezes Vine to death, leaving you with no chance of recovery. The choice is yours.”

Enraged, Jason grabbed the letter of intent from the table, tore it to shreds on the spot, and turned to leave:

”Chen Mo, you wait! I won’t let Tianxing Short Video International Edition survive in the US! I will definitely make you pay the price!”

Chen Mo didn’t take his threat to heart at all and waved his hand at Zhang Kai:

”Let him go.”

Sure enough, within a few days of Jason’s return, the US introduced new regulations specifically targeting Tianxing Short Video International Edition. Once the news broke, it immediately topped the trending searches both domestically and abroad:

”US introduces new regulations, mandating Tianxing International Edition to hand over core technology or replace its entire US management team.”

Domestic netizens were completely enraged, and the verbal sparring between the Little Pinks and dragon haters intensified:

”Such double standards! They can bully our Dragon Country enterprises, but we aren’t allowed to rise, is that it?”

”Support Chen Mo in standing firm! Never compromise! The core technology must never be handed over; it’s the foundation of our Dragon Country!”

”Exactly! President Chen, just do it. We all support you! Dragon Country enterprises will never bow their heads!”

”I told you so. You just had to be stubborn, and now you’re sanctioned, aren’t you? You’re dragging down the entire Dragon Country tech scene!”

”What’s wrong with handing it over? It’s better than being sanctioned; otherwise, the losses will be even greater. It’s not worth it!”

”dragon haters, shut up! If the core technology is handed over, we’ll just be held by the throat by the US from now on! President Chen is right to stand firm!”

”You’re all just a bunch of keyboard warriors. If you’re so capable, develop your own technology instead of dragging President Chen down!”
