Different World Card Master: Change the World with Cards

294: I’m hungry again.Right, when discussing with Bai Shan before, he had actually mentioned some of the processes for making blank cards and explained the purpose of adding other materials; in general, it was to make the cards more stable and readable by card readers.

In other words, if one wanted to draw something directly onto a star energy stone, even if it were cut to the size of a card, it couldn’t be read by a card reader.

Therefore, star energy stones are not omnipotent.

Xu Bai currently had two ideas, but whether they would actually work remained to be seen through experimentation.

One idea was to ignore the instability of the star energy stone and draw something that would cause a timed explosion on it. He didn’t know if this effect could be achieved, but if he used the star energy stone as a giant bomb, would the utilization rate be higher, and what kind of effect would the resulting explosion have?

Right, the danger level was quite high, so he would need to take proper protective measures; he certainly didn’t want to blow himself to the sky.

The second idea was a weapon combining cards and star energy stones. It wouldn’t be like other weapons—guns or cannons—but rather using the star energy stone as a giant bomb, with the card acting as a timer or a fuse to ignite the star energy stone, causing it to explode.

Explosion is art.

In any case, based on what Xu Bai understood, the energy inside a star energy stone was very high, so he felt that making it explode would be the most powerful weapon.

Right, beasts also have star energy stones in their brains. Could he choose to launch cards into the beasts’ brains and then trigger the star energy stones inside them to explode? If a whole swarm of beasts were together, would it trigger a chain reaction of explosions?

No, there are too many beasts, and the explosion energy would be uncontrollable. If it formed an explosion with the power of an atomic bomb, he would be in trouble too.

Therefore, the prerequisite for all this research was to study the conditions required for a star energy stone to explode and then confirm whether one explosion would trigger a chain reaction.

Only after knowing these things could Xu Bai feel at ease; otherwise, this weapon could only serve as a last resort when humanity was on the verge of being wiped out by the Beast Tide.

He hoped the results wouldn’t be too bad.

Xu Bai had only listened to the first thirty minutes of the lecture, ignoring the last thirty minutes as he was lost in his own thoughts. Because he was so focused, when he finally looked up, the speaker on the podium had already changed, and it was now time for the next lecture.

Xu Bai didn’t leave immediately but quietly listened to the second half of the other speaker’s lecture before leaving his seat.

Perhaps because he had been using his brain so much, Xu Bai felt a bit hungry, so he headed toward the dining hall.

Although it was only a little past eight and not yet lunchtime, the dining hall had been reserved by the Card Maker Guild, and one could go in to eat all day long.

Most of the food inside was buffet-style, though those in need could also choose to order a la carte. When Xu Bai walked in, there were already some people eating.

Although Xu Bai was a bit hungry, he didn’t want a heavy meal, so he simply picked some fried chicken cutlets and salad, then chose a seat and sat down.

To be honest, Xu Bai wanted to return to the Research Institute right now to verify his ideas, but unfortunately, this was not the time for him to be willful. To repel external threats, one must first stabilize internal affairs. The Card Maker Guild was an important part of the Tianlong Republic; if the Card Maker Guild and the Tianlong Republic formed a united front, it would be much more convenient to deal with the Beast Tide later on.

As Xu Bai ate the food on his plate, he flipped through the notebook he had just been recording in. Looking at some of the other people’s card-making ideas, Xu Bai sometimes felt that he wasn’t bold enough.

His thinking seemed very creative to others, but he knew himself that he only thought to create these things because he had seen them before.

As an adult, trying to break out of one’s own established thinking patterns was a very difficult thing, but Xu Bai felt that he could do it.

”What are you thinking about? You’re so engrossed.”

Xu Bai knew who it was just by the voice. He looked up and saw that the person approaching was indeed Wu Zijin.

”You’re hungry too.”

Wu Zijin nodded. ”Of course. When I was listening to the lecture, I saw you writing on the table the whole time. Do you have some new ideas?”

”I do have some new ideas waiting to be verified. Let’s try them together when we get back.”

Seeing that Xu Bai didn’t go into detail, Wu Zijin understood that this matter couldn’t be discussed casually, so he didn’t ask further and changed the subject.

”I just talked to several of my friends as well. Some of them have heard some inside information, but they think this is a conspiracy by the Tianlong Republic, wanting to use this to gradually bring the Card Maker Guild under their control. They don’t want that to happen and are thinking of opposing this proposal.”

Hearing this, Xu Bai frowned.

He didn’t know if this was the original plan of the Tianlong Republic or if someone was spreading anxiety, intentionally trying to prevent this from happening.

”So, have they chosen to support or oppose it?”

Wu Zijin shrugged. ”There are some who support it and some who oppose it. It’s hard to say. There are a lot of people, and there are all kinds of opinions, so it’s uncertain what the final result will be.”

”Sigh!” Xu Bai sighed, then could only smile helplessly.

In any case, there was nothing he could do about these things; everything would depend on their efforts. He would only do what he could. Of course, he would also speak to Bai Shan about this in a while so they could prepare early.

”It’s useless for us to worry too much. Let’s focus more on the cards we need to make later.”

”I found a bit of inspiration from the stalls outside. It might be helpful for our current research. Take a look.”

After saying that, Wu Zijin took out his notebook and spread it open for Xu Bai to see.

Xu Bai leaned in and looked at it carefully, nodding from time to time to show his agreement with what Wu Zijin had written.

”An academic conference is a place for everyone to interact with each other. Why are you two staying in the cafeteria to do research?”

Bai Shan looked at the two people in front of him helplessly.

Xu Bai and Wu Zijin exchanged a glance.

”Perhaps I’m not good at making friends with others. Researching cards is what I want to do, and I think this is quite good.”

”Yes, yes, I also like researching cards. Although I have many friends, we can always send letters if we want to keep in touch. There’s no need to seize this particular moment.”

Bai Shan realized he couldn’t convince the two people in front of him, so he gave up.

Perhaps he really was old and didn’t have much energy left to do research. The future would still depend on these young people. If they could create more and better cards, he would be very happy to see it happen.
