Different World Card Master: Change the World with Cards

281: enviousThis was something the Administrator had not anticipated.

He hadn’t expected that the two of them, who had originally come together to persuade Xu Bai to abandon this research, would have one of them switch sides at the last moment.

Now, the two of them were trying to persuade him to agree instead.

He... naturally, he could only agree.

There was nothing he could do.

The two people in front of him were the authorities on manufacturing cards; what reason did he have to object?

Furthermore, if what Xu Bai described could truly be created, the country would ultimately benefit.

Thus, the Administrator signed his name on their experimental project application form and, at the same time, transferred many researchers and research assistants to follow them and participate in the study.

In fact, the Administrator didn’t need to make the transfers; as long as Xu Bai and Bai Shan gave the call, many people in the research labs would want to join their study. If you asked the team leaders managing those labs if they were angry, they would definitely reply, ”Angry about what? We want to join too.”

The members of the research labs originally managed by Xu Bai and Bai Shan, having been assigned other research tasks, could only watch pitifully as the two established a new research lab.

Although they initially felt the research project wasn’t reliable, that didn’t mean they didn’t want to join. After all, there’s always an exception to the rule, and these two were two such exceptions.

...While the research proceeded in full swing, the operation to capture the cult members was nearing its end.

The Guard Team’s recent operations had been too frequent, drawing the attention of many ordinary people, and naturally, some high-ranking members of the cult also noticed.

They did not know the reason so many people had been exposed, so they quickly restrained their subordinates.

At the same time, they began internal investigations. After all, having so many people arrested was no small matter for them. Although most of those caught were mid-level members, the majority of the cult consisted of mid-level personnel. If all the mid-level members were gone, leaving only the higher-ups, what good would that do? They would become commanders without an army, and the cult would eventually disband.

Unfortunately, they investigated for a long time but could not figure out where the problem lay.

It must be known that while the Skynet Project was underway, the intelligence department was also aware of the situation and began arranging for their undercover agents to withdraw.

Now, most of the undercover agents had been pulled out of the cult. At the same time, too many cult members had been arrested or killed, and another portion, sensing something was wrong, quietly fled the cult. All of this led to a severe brain drain within the cult.

Therefore, the cult itself couldn’t determine the circumstances of the disappeared individuals, nor could they use the situation to judge who had betrayed them.

In short, the cult’s internal structure was now a mess, and no one trusted anyone else. After all, with so many of them arrested, the first suspicion was that someone inside had leaked the information.

Although the cult’s high-ranking members issued a command to cease all activity, some people still refused to listen, as they had described the effects of the Divine Blood too favorably. At this point, the cult leaders were helpless; they had to deal with the consequences of their own actions, and for those who had lost their minds, they could only ignore them.

Their main priority now was to thoroughly investigate this matter. To do so, several Elders began taking action, inquiring about internal news. Unfortunately, after several days of searching, they still didn’t know the reason.

If the members delayed their actions, their plans for the Beast Tide would be ruined. Either way, they were in trouble.

Consequently, the cult’s high-ranking members gathered for a meeting to discuss their subsequent plans.

On the other side, the Super-High-Grade Alien Beasts were also holding a meeting.

They were able to control those who drank their blood, but when they tried to control several individuals to act, the feedback they received indicated that the targets were bound and unable to move.

They weren’t sure what was happening.

”Do you think those humans might have realized that the blood we gave them was problematic?”

”Yes, when I tried to control several people to move, they couldn’t. They must all be tied up.”

Hearing the questions from the other Super-High-Grade Alien Beasts, the Super-High-Grade Alien Beast who devised this plan was also uncertain.

He had always known that humans were very cunning, and the reason he could come up with this plan was by studying some human knowledge.

What if humans were smarter than he imagined, instantly discovered their plan, and decided to turn the tables, using their blood to research their weaknesses? The thought brought cold sweat to his body.

But he dared not voice his suspicion. After all, not all Super-High-Grade Alien Beasts had brains. If he spoke up, they might not sympathize with him but instead get angry and beat him to death.

Although he considered himself smarter than the other alien beasts, their martial power was still superior.

He had it! How should he argue—no, how should he explain this?

”Aren’t humans fighting among themselves? Maybe they were captured.”

Hearing this, the other Super-High-Grade Alien Beasts thought it made sense and nodded in agreement.

”Right, why don’t we ask the humans we’re cooperating with and see what they have to say?”

”Didn’t you say we couldn’t reveal the fact that we can control the humans who drink our blood?”

The smart alien beast felt extremely helpless.

”Of course, we can’t say it directly. We can try to sound them out indirectly.”

”What does ’sound them out indirectly’ mean?”

”This... never mind. I’ll ask them myself.”

Sigh!

Why weren’t the alien beasts who could currently transform into humans smart? It meant he had to handle everything personally. The last plan was almost successful; they were close to occupying this large territory.

Unexpectedly, the other humans didn’t immediately start fighting among themselves but instead united against an external threat, prioritizing the fight against the alien beasts. This gave the people of the Tianlong Republic time to reorganize the situation, and they were now developing better and better.

The current moment was another good opportunity that he had painstakingly found. The cult, which opposed the current Government of the Tianlong Republic, had grown strong and planned to take action within the next two years, so he approached them for cooperation.

He never expected that their plan would encounter a flaw in less than a month. Now he needed to know where the problem originated and whether they should continue cooperating with those cults.

He had also heard from some humans that a new powerful weapon had appeared in the Luo Lan Empire. They could not allow this country to cooperate with the Luo Lan Empire, nor could they allow that weapon to be mass-produced, or else their territory would shrink further during this Beast Tide.

During this Beast Tide, he intended to occupy several cities currently held by humans, and he hoped his plan would succeed.
