Different World Card Master: Change the World with Cards

273: rescueWhile the two were talking, the other side continued waiting for the right moment.

After the action team leader received instructions from Mr. Number Three, he immediately sent two more people inside; these two were responsible for capturing the person whose eyes glowed.

The night grew darker and darker, and the drowsiness of the night gradually crept up on people.

The eyelids of the person guarding the children grew incredibly heavy, and because the environment was too quiet, he gradually fell asleep.

Unbeknownst to them, one of the two guards outside also couldn’t help but close his eyes. However, his sleep was restless, perhaps remembering that he still had a mission. He forced his eyelids open to glance outside, but a sense of luck made him think that sleeping for 10 minutes should be fine, so he closed them again.

This kind of sleep was actually not very restful. He felt in his heart that he had only dozed for a few seconds, unaware that more than 10 minutes had passed outside.

Not a sound was made outside, and the kidnappers gradually lowered their guard.

The action team leader listened carefully to the reports coming through the walkie-talkie and decided the time was right.

”Everyone, 3, 2, 1, move.”

After hearing this, Feng Bao immediately pulled the trigger, killing the person closest to the outside.

Sun Yanwu coordinated with the other two men; one went up to hold the two children while the others dealt with the kidnappers.

The kidnapper guarding the children was quickly subdued, but just as they were about to leave, a gunshot rang out. Everyone’s hearts tightened. They immediately found cover to hide their bodies, simultaneously pulling out their guns to guard against anyone entering.

They knew that the first thing kidnappers would do when trouble arose was confirm the status of the hostages, otherwise, what was the point of the kidnapping?

Furthermore, if they had people in hand, they could use the hostages to threaten others, allowing them to escape... Xu Le blinked his eyes and exchanged a look with Ji Tao next to him.

Although the two were children, adults had told them many stories like this. So, while they were initially scared and cried for a while when first kidnapped, they later remembered that their families would surely rescue them. They bravely pulled themselves together and sat obediently, waiting.

The kidnappers didn’t pay much attention to this; having the children quiet and compliant was the best outcome for them—they wished for nothing more.

Sun Yanwu was someone Xu Le knew. When Sun Yanwu came to rescue them, Xu Le timely called out, ”Brother Sun,” which also put Ji Tao at ease.

Sun Yanwu nodded and greeted Xu Le, then quietly told the two children not to make a sound, explaining that they were there to rescue them.

Therefore, Xu Le and Ji Tao did not fuss like ordinary children and did not make any noise to disturb anyone.

However, upon hearing the gunshot, although the two children did not scream, they were still a little afraid. They held hands, encouraging each other.

Seeing this, Sun Yanwu breathed a sigh of relief. It was a good thing they hadn’t shouted, which would have attracted the attention of the kidnappers outside.

The operation outside would definitely proceed after this, as the children were the priority.

After confirming the children were safe, Sun Yanwu immediately reported the situation...

After the gunshot outside, a sound of fighting drifted in. The three people in the room exchanged glances but took no other action, continuing to guard the room to prevent anyone else from entering.

Something unexpected must have happened outside, but they trusted their teammates.

”Tap, tap, tap...”

A faint sound of footsteps approached; they felt the steps getting closer and closer.

The footsteps outside the room suddenly stopped, as if the person was hesitating whether to open the door and enter.

Sun Ji stood in front of the door, unsure if something had happened inside, but the attack outside was fierce; several people had already died. If he didn’t have the children as leverage, he would also be hard-pressed to escape death.

He listened carefully. There was no sound inside. Had the guards gone out after hearing the noise? Or had they all been subdued?

Never mind. Both sides were dangerous; he might as well take a chance.

Thinking this, he didn’t hesitate, twisted the doorknob, and opened the door... It truly was a surprise the moment he opened the door. He activated the power of his bloodline; his eyes glowed, and he clearly saw the scene inside.

But seeing clearly was useless to him. He knew he was facing three muzzles. He believed that if he moved even slightly, the other side would shoot, and he would be riddled with holes.

”I surrender, don’t kill me.”

Only a wise man submits to circumstances.

Sun Ji immediately dropped the weapon in his hand and raised his hands in surrender.

Sun Yanwu had originally intended to kill the opponent, but he didn’t expect the person also had glowing eyes, so he stopped his action. The other two, having not heard his command, also ceased fire.

”Tie him up as well.”

”Yes.”

The two men beside him, one keeping his gun raised, the other stepped forward to tie the man up.

Sun Yanwu immediately reported this unexpected situation via the walkie-talkie.

At this moment, the sounds of fighting outside disappeared, and silence returned... 4, 5... 7. Just right.

The action team leader listened to the scattered reports from inside, and only after confirming that everyone had been subdued or killed did he notify the people inside that it was safe... Half an hour later.

First Hospital.

After Xu Le was rescued, he was sent to the hospital. Xu Bai also rushed there immediately, and the moment Xu Le saw his older brother, he burst into tears.

His cries were loud and continuous, tears and snot flowing together, as if venting all the fear he had bottled up.

Although Xu Le was quite clever, no matter what, he was still just a child, and of course, he would be afraid after experiencing this incident.

This fear only manifested when the person closest to him appeared.

Xu Bai also rushed forward and hugged Xu Le tightly, his eyes slightly red.

”Brother, I was wrong. I shouldn’t have run off with Ji Tao to look for earthworms.”

Xu Bai felt heartache seeing this. He held Xu Le and comforted him.

”Lele wasn’t wrong. The ones who kidnapped you were wrong. Later, Brother will go with you to look for earthworms.”

Xu Bai repeatedly stroked Xu Le’s back, soothing his emotions to prevent him from fainting.

Although the people nearby did not want to disturb the brothers’ reunion, they needed to check Xu Le’s physical condition, so they spoke up to remind them.

So, Xu Bai patiently explained to Xu Le, and Xu Le obediently nodded and accepted the doctor’s examination. Their hands were still tightly clasped together and did not separate.

Nearby, Ji Tao’s father and mother were also crying hysterically with Ji Tao, and upon hearing the reminder, they quickly pulled Ji Tao over for the doctor to examine him.

The doctors carefully examined them, drew two tubes of blood from each child, and then bid them farewell.

They had no external injuries, but just in case, their blood still needed to be tested to confirm whether they had eaten or drunk anything they shouldn’t have.

The children were rescued, but the truth of the matter still needed to be thoroughly investigated. Otherwise, if it happened once, it might happen a second time, and Xu Bai would not let the culprits get away with it.

As night deepened, Xu Bai held Xu Le and fell asleep on the hospital bed.
