Different World Card Master: Change the World with Cards

292: get awayThis was Xu Bai’s first time attending an academic conference; naturally, it was better to explore on his own.

After saying goodbye to Bai Shan, Xu Bai first went to the area closest to the entrance to collect the conference’s small gift.

The gift actually consisted of some small notebooks, pens, pins, etc., and even masks and cloaks. Xu Bai knew the former items could be used to record interesting things at the conference, but the masks and cloaks made him feel strange. After all, everyone who came here wasn’t wearing such things, so wearing them now didn’t seem very useful.

Could it be to facilitate cult activities?

No, that’s not right. The outside of this place is currently monitored with no blind spots; who would be so bold as to act here?

Forget it, this isn’t something Xu Bai should worry about; he continued to look around.

Next, Xu Bai looked at the shares about their research theory posted outside each booth, searching for knowledge that interested him.

[”Analysis Report on the Feasibility of Human Flight” Author: Jian Liru]

This title made Xu Bai stop in his tracks.

Wait, is it possible to study human flight now?

Then wouldn’t his drone, and the helicopters and airplanes he planned to research later, be useless?

Although Xu Bai felt the other person’s idea was a bit whimsical, when he thought about how unscientific things like cards had appeared, what else could be completely impossible?

Therefore, curious, he stepped forward, intending to talk to the other person.

Perhaps due to humanity’s longing for the sky, many people stopped in front of this booth. For a moment, there were many people gathered here, the noise was loud, and Xu Bai couldn’t hear anything nor could he squeeze in.

Fortunately, this place was managed; soon someone came over to maintain order, and the noisy sounds gradually faded away.

Xu Bai watched the person at the booth, the author of this paper, Jian Liru, who stood on the table and began her speech.

She was wearing a red coat and was very eye-catching. Her face was flushed, perhaps because she hadn’t expected her idea to attract so much attention, so she was very excited. While there were still many people, she didn’t dawdle and directly raised her voice to explain her idea on how to achieve human flight.

She had expected her words to spark a heated discussion among the crowd, but things went contrary to her wishes. After she finished speaking, the people below scattered to both sides, and in the end, only a few people remained in front of the booth.

Xu Bai was a bit speechless; the other person’s idea was truly too absurd.

The other person thought like this: make floating cards, then let people eat them, and then people could float. If they didn’t want to fly anymore, they would just excrete the cards.

For a moment, Xu Bai felt speechless and a bit disgusted. If this was really how one could fly, he wouldn’t want to; it was just too disgusting. Did one have to eat it again if they wanted to fly next time?

By the way, the cards needed to be excreted for the person to stop flying; didn’t that mean one would have to excrete while flying in the sky? Also, maintaining balance in the sky wasn’t easy; if one flew upside down, wouldn’t that be...

Breakfast churned in Xu Bai’s stomach for a moment, but he held it back.

Because Xu Bai’s thoughts had accidentally wandered too far, he had thought a bit too much and hadn’t left in time. So, after the people in front left, Xu Bai was standing in the first position, which allowed the eccentric Jian Liru, who had just finished presenting her idea, to see him at a glance.

When Xu Bai collected his thoughts, his gaze met hers.

Before Xu Bai could escape, she walked up to him with a smile, excitedly shaking his hand up and down.

”Hello, sir, you have a great eye. Are you interested in my research? Would you like to join me in researching it?”

Xu Bai shook his head wildly, fearing that she would really drag him into the research.

Seeing Xu Bai’s action, Jian Liru’s eyes dimmed, but she still didn’t let go of his hand, not wanting to let him leave.

”Then what do you think of my idea?”

”Um... it’s very surprising, yes, very surprising.”

Although she looked very disappointed, Xu Bai didn’t want to join her research, but Xu Bai wasn’t the type to be completely heartless, so he could only say it like that.

”Why? Isn’t it good to let humans fly? I believe many of us have thought about what it would be like if we could fly.”

Xu Bai silently tried to pull his hand back, but couldn’t. Seeing that she wouldn’t give up, he had to voice his own thoughts.

The few people who remained nearby also looked at the two with interest, waiting for Xu Bai’s reply, with expressions of watching a show.

”It’s certainly good to let humans fly, but the possibility of your idea being realized is too low. Don’t you think some parts are a bit disgusting?”

Jian Liru knew from his words that Xu Bai had been listening carefully to what she said, so she became even more excited, looking at Xu Bai with shining eyes.

”I also know some parts are a bit disgusting, but they can be improved later. If you don’t like it, do you have any good ideas?”

Hearing this, Xu Bai felt that if he didn’t say a bit more, she wouldn’t let him leave.

”What do you think is the essence of flight?” Before she could reply, Xu Bai continued, ”The essence of flight requires achieving a balance of forces and the traversal of space-time.”

”Like us standing here, instead of floating in the air, I believe that all objects on the ground are affected by a force. I call this force gravity; I won’t go into the details.”

”Think about it, when we jump, we actually achieve short-lived flight. This flight happens because we bend our legs downwards. During this downward motion, we exert an upward force. In other words, when this upward force is consistently greater than the gravity acting upon us, we can fly. Then, if we want to fly to other places, we need to be acted upon by forces in other directions.”

Hearing this, Jian Liru seemed to have a bit of an epiphany.

”In other words, our direction of movement changes according to the direction of the force. So, if I attach an upward force to the cards, can people achieve flight?”

The onlookers nearby were also attracted by Xu Bai’s words, feeling that what he said made some sense. They looked at Xu Bai with expectant eyes, hoping he would say more.

They had thought Xu Bai would directly say that her idea was impossible to realize, then she would be relentless, and they would end up fighting.

Although it was an exchange of knowledge, often people with different ideas wouldn’t yield to each other, and that was when they would use force to decide the winner. They were waiting for that, but they didn’t expect Xu Bai to say something that they also found very reasonable.
