Different World Card Master: Change the World with Cards

285: temperatureThe cultists on the other side suffered another massive blow, causing their operations to stall, yet they couldn’t think of any good way to resolve it.

On the other side, Xu Bai’s research also encountered some problems.

Saying ”some” was actually a euphemism; to put it bluntly, he had encountered a huge problem. The foundation underneath had accidentally loosened and needed something else to reinforce it; if this thing couldn’t be found, they might need to relay the foundation.

Sometimes there is a gap between ideas and reality. Although they had cleared up their train of thought a little, they hadn’t made much of a breakthrough in terms of target selection.

This was because they discovered that choosing attack targets based on energy intensity wasn’t very accurate. Since it wasn’t only the beasts that had star energy stones in their brains—some underground star energy stone mines or certain weapons also had star energy stones installed—if they attacked based on energy recognition, they might accidentally end up in a situation where they attacked themselves.

Today is November 21st.

There wasn’t much time left. If they didn’t solve this problem, it would be impossible for them to develop this function.

In the research room.

Xu Bai was like a meditating monk, staring blankly at the blank cards in front of him.

The projects of other research groups were proceeding very smoothly. Although some Researchers occasionally had different ideas and would argue because of them, the final results were still good, making their research results even more perfect. Some were already in the testing phase and almost finished with their research, yet this research project was still only at the beginning.

Thinking of this, Xu Bai felt a little anxious. He had wanted to stay up late thinking every day, but Bai Shan persuaded him, telling him not to put too much pressure on himself.

Actually, even if they didn’t come up with a result before this Beast Tide, it would still be an acceptable outcome. The other newly researched weapons were also very good, and the weapons overall had improved significantly compared to before.

Research cannot be accomplished overnight; it requires patience.

Although Xu Bai listened, he still wanted the ammunition to achieve the operation of precision strikes.

Although staring at the blank cards, it was as if dense text appeared before Xu Bai’s eyes. These characters overlapped with each other, just like a ball of yarn that a cat had played with, messy and disorganized.

What Xu Bai needed to do now was to find the head of this ball of yarn and then wind it out bit by bit.

Now, he needed the ammunition to be able to ”see” the beasts—note, it couldn’t be humans, trees, stones, or other things.

He kept thinking about listing a bunch of things and then finding commonalities and differences among them, wanting to use this to distinguish them.

The method should be correct, so which characteristics did he overlook in the middle?

”Fang Mu, what do you think is the difference between a beast and a weapon carrying a star energy stone?”

Fang Mu was stunned. He looked at the beast in the photo, then looked at the weapon placed on the table. Because they had already stated many differences before, he couldn’t think of any new ones for the moment.

Actually, Xu Bai didn’t expect others to answer his question; he was just asking casually. If someone had a different idea than him, that would be even better.

Fang Mu and the others were recent additions, so Xu Bai thought they might have some new ideas. They had just completed further improvements to the drone weapons and handed them over to the military for testing, so they were temporarily free, which is why they were pulled over by Xu Bai to help out.

Li Baoyu watched as the research room fell into silence again, his eyes darting around nimbly.

”Um, I thought of another difference.”

Following the voice, Xu Bai looked over.

”What is the difference?”

”I think the temperature is different.”

”Temperature, yes, the two temperatures are different.”

Fang Mu raised an objection: ”But after using weapons too much, the temperature will also rise, so this distinction will disappear. If we choose targets based on temperature, it will still cause friendly fire.”

Ji Jingping: ”Since we can’t distinguish, why don’t we create a distinction ourselves? For example, everyone carries something on them to be identified.”

Hearing this, Bai Shan slowly took a sip of tea and poured cold water on him directly.

”What if someone doesn’t have it? It’s not just soldiers fighting the Beast Tide; there are also those mercenaries. Do they need it too? What if a regular person gets close? What if a beast eats this thing after killing someone? ...”

Several ”what ifs” made everyone shake their heads repeatedly.

Ji Jingping wilted like a cabbage again.

However, at this moment, Xu Bai didn’t pay attention to this point; he had already fallen into his own train of thought.

Xu Bai’s eyes lit up.

He had it, he could do it this way.

”I think the idea of temperature is good. We don’t have to look at the weapon as a whole. After the weapon is used, the gun barrel gets hot and the temperature rises, but the place where it holds the ammunition doesn’t heat up. Then, the same is true for weapons carrying star energy stones—this star energy stone’s temperature won’t rise, right?

And the star energy stone in the beast’s brain has a temperature. In that case, we can set it to select star energy stones that have a temperature. Doesn’t this solve the dilemma of selecting other star energy stones when choosing targets based on energy intensity!”

Xu Bai said everything he thought of, associating it with the word ”temperature” given by Li Baoyu.

After his voice fell, it was like a stone causing a thousand ripples.

Bai Shan, the leisurely Researcher who had just been taking it easy, was so excited that he knocked over the tea he had just brewed on his table. The tea spilled all over the table and even wet his clothes.

Originally, he didn’t want to deal with it, but the tea was too hot, so he could only pull up his wet clothes to avoid contact with his skin, while keeping saying: ”Hot! Hot! Hot!”

The Researcher next to him quickly pulled out paper towels to wipe Bai Shan’s clothes.

The other Researchers nearby also reacted at this time, thinking about the feasibility of what Xu Bai said in their minds.

”Yes, the temperature of the star energy stone in the weapon will not rise.”

Someone who knew about weapons gave an affirmative answer.

Hearing this, the other Researchers also agreed with Xu Bai’s idea.

”It is indeed possible, and it is winter now, so the temperature is just low; using this method is indeed feasible.”

After dealing with the water stains on his body, Bai Shan also nodded in agreement, ”I also think this idea is possible.”

With no one objecting, Xu Bai set the direction for the subsequent experimental research, and everyone’s mood rose, not as dead as it was just now.

Fang Mu felt that he still had a lot to learn.

Everyone heard the phrase ”different temperature” at the same time; some people could only think of the whole, while others could see the essence through the phenomenon and then come up with a solution.

There is still a gap between people.
