Different World Card Master: Change the World with Cards

257: Need helpAt this point, it was time to brainstorm.

Assistant Researcher Wang raised his hand and then explained his idea.

”I think we can use protective gear. For example, the most important part of our body is our head. Pilots can wear a helmet, which would cushion head and neck injuries in case of a fall.”

Fang Mu followed his line of thought, saying, ”It’s not just the head; many parts of the body are easily injured, such as the neck, knees, etc. Why not create a specialized protective suit for pilots? This way, it could cushion impacts and prevent fractures and internal injuries.”

At this point, a research assistant named Li pointed out a flaw in this method.

”Such a protective suit would definitely be very heavy, which means our drone’s load capacity would need to be increased. I think we could use inflatable cushioning. When a pilot falls, they press a button, and the suit inflates to provide cushioning. This way, the weight would be much lighter, and we would only need to ensure the suit isn’t easily torn.”

”To make the suit not easily torn, the material for its construction would need to be specially selected, as the impact force from a fall is very great.”

”Why not have the pilot wear a jet-propulsion device? Isn’t action and reaction equal and opposite? If gas is expelled downwards, the pilot would experience an upward force. A few continuous bursts could counteract the downward force.”

Assistant Researcher Feng shared his imaginative idea.

His idea was a bit like Superman, but one must remember that human movement in the sky is very uncontrollable.

Before Xu Bai could speak, someone quickly refuted him.

”How can you guarantee that the pilot will fall vertically, feet first? What if he falls headfirst? The jet device might actually kill him.

Furthermore, maintaining balance in the air is extremely difficult. They have no leverage points in the air. Your idea might only be achievable after pilots become accustomed to aerial movement, which could take decades.”

After refuting the other person, he also proposed his own method.

”What do you all think about wingsuit gliding?”

Hearing this, an image involuntarily popped into Xu Bai’s mind.

It was Kaito Kid.

Kaito Kid often used a hang glider to escape.

Xu Bai remembered that in a movie, Kaito Kid even modified his hang glider, adding a large propeller to increase speed and flexibility, and better adapt to various environments and emergencies.

Thinking of this, Xu Bai quickly jotted down this method on paper.

Although this wasn’t a protective device, a well-used hang glider could still be very useful.

Xu Bai: ”This method can be tried, but wingsuit flying mainly extends airtime, it doesn’t directly slow down and land.”

Fang Mu: ”Then how about combining it with a parachute? We could try to shorten the deployment time. After all, they might sometimes fly higher, and a parachute is safer.”

Researcher Li: ”Then how about equipping all three: a hang glider, a parachute, and an inflatable cushioning suit? This way, there would be a certain level of safety assurance whether falling from a high or low altitude.”

Xu Bai felt that many of their methods were indeed good, but whether they were feasible still needed testing.

For now, he would just compile these suggestions, then research them specifically and conduct tests.

”Alright, I’ll write these down first. If you have any other ideas later, you can come find me. We’ll take it one step at a time.

Next, does anyone have any good ideas for the drone research?”

Everyone shook their heads.

If no one had any ideas, the meeting could pretty much end.

Xu Bai assigned the tasks one by one. Since the manned drone cards was not created from scratch but optimized and improved based on existing drone cardss, Xu Bai only needed to control the general direction.

With the tasks assigned, Xu Bai had a moment of leisure.

During his free time, Xu Bai finally remembered the drone’s vision problem.

Thinking of vision, this inevitably brought up video, and this video also needed to be synchronized.

Suddenly, he thought of the various short videos on a certain app, and if synchronization was needed, then it would be live streaming.

In his previous life, he watched these every day. Living here for so long, he almost forgot about them.

But one must know that such short videos or live streams took forty to fifty years to develop into what they were in his previous life. It was impossible to achieve that all at once now.

So, he needed to study the evolution process of video to find a video production method suitable for this world.

The essence of video is to utilize the persistence of vision of the human eye, creating the illusion of dynamic motion in the brain by rapidly playing static images.

The camera had already been made. The difference between video and a camera is that one is static and the other is dynamic.

In fact, the earliest video involved setting up multiple cameras at a racecourse to photograph a running horse. Stringing the photos together formed the first dynamic image in history, but ultimately, this was just a collection of photos.

What was needed on the drone was real-time video, primarily to allow the operator to monitor the drone’s status.

This way, the drone could go to distant places that our naked eyes couldn’t observe, allowing it to fly further.

Therefore, continuous photography could not solve this problem.

So, the earliest video couldn’t be referenced.

Time moved forward.

Xu Bai began to ponder the core challenge of video production, which was converting a two-dimensional image into a one-dimensional electrical signal.

Honestly, the principle of signal processing was very similar to a fax machine.

A fax machine converts graphic information into electrical signals through photoelectric conversion, then processes, amplifies, modulates, and encodes them for transmission over telephone lines. The receiving end then restores the electrical signals to graphic information.

Video also needs to encode and compress image information, convert it into digital signals suitable for transmission, and then decode and restore it at the receiving end.

So, there was a certain similarity between the two, but this could not be solved by relying solely on the spiritual connection method he learned with Bai Shan and his own definition method, as it was still too complex.

Crucially, it required advanced encoding algorithms. At the same time, for video to be transmitted in real-time, network transmission technology was also indispensable.

If Xu Bai had to make it from scratch, he would have no ideas, but now, he felt that with Bai Shan’s help, it would be achievable.

In summary, Xu Bai needed to find helpers.
