Different World Card Master: Change the World with Cards

272: hideMr. Number Three first sighed, then continued.

”There’s something we’ve been hiding from the public: super-advanced Beasts can transform into humans and communicate with us.”

!!!

Xu Bai was stunned.

This… wasn’t this exactly like what was written in cultivation novels, where plants and animals could cultivate to become human?

Oh, no, that’s not right.

Currently, it seems only Beasts can transform into humans; plants cannot.

But perhaps that will change in the future, or maybe it already has, and he just hasn’t been told.

Xu Bai realized he still lacked some understanding of this world.

He should say he lacked some understanding of the higher-level secrets.

Forget it, for now, let’s focus on the matter at hand.

Right now, the focus should be on the fact that Beasts can turn into humans.

If they can communicate, does that mean humans and Beasts can negotiate and live in peace?

Xu Bai thought this in his mind and asked the question.

”This is also what we’re worried about.”

Mr. Number Three was very helpless.

”If this matter were widely publicized, our unified front against the Beast Tide might shatter, and many people would start thinking about negotiating with the Beasts.”

”Isn’t negotiation good? Is there some conspiracy involved?”

”Negotiation is built on the premise that both sides have roughly equal strength. As of now, the power difference between us and the Beasts is quite significant. If a portion of humanity compromises with the Beasts, willing to live under their rule, then humanity’s defenses will be broken. At that point, the remaining humans won’t have the strength to contend with the Beasts and will be annihilated. Will the last remaining humans have a way to survive? The final outcome will still be extinction by the Beasts.”

Upon hearing this, Xu Bai understood.

Those not of our kind are sure to have different hearts.

Even among humans, if they are not of the same race or country, their thoughts and stances will differ, let alone between two species like humans and Beasts.

To be more realistic, if Beasts were the disadvantaged group and humans held the upper hand, Xu Bai himself wouldn’t believe that humans would grant them equal status.

Therefore, with humans currently in a weak position, the Beasts’ view of humanity certainly isn’t one of peaceful coexistence.

So, letting ordinary people know that Beasts can communicate might give many people unwarranted hopes.

”Then, do high-ranking officials in other countries also not know about this?”

Could they really control other countries?

”Some know, some smaller countries don’t. Beasts and humans cannot coexist peacefully. You must understand that during a Beast Tide, Beasts lose most of their rationality. How can they coexist? Only those super-advanced Beasts can resist the interference and maintain their rationality.

We actually negotiated with them, but at first, their idea was to eliminate all of us humans so that the Beasts wouldn’t lose their rationality.

Later, they realized they couldn’t wipe out all of humanity, so they started thinking about cooperation. We initially believed them, but we didn’t expect that their cooperation was just to make us lower our guard. They sowed discord among several countries, causing significant unrest.

Fortunately, they had only recently transformed into humans, and their learning was rather superficial, so we quickly discovered their intentions. Later, after communication among various countries, a unified front against the Beasts was established.

And because of this, we won’t consider cooperating with Beasts, nor do we want to tell ordinary people that Beasts can transform into humans.”

The Beasts’ idea is to eliminate humanity.

Is it that extreme?

Xu Bai thought about it but couldn’t come up with any good solutions, mainly because he didn’t know the cause of the Beast Tide.

Since negotiations with them were useless, it was indeed better not to give this information to others.

After all this talk, Xu Bai had a better understanding of the situation, and the conversation returned to the kidnapping.

”So you’re saying the people who kidnapped Xu Le are connected to Beasts, meaning they are transformed Beasts?”

”No, when we first discovered that Beasts could transform into humans, we were also worried that they might transform and infiltrate to target our high-ranking officials. So, the city gates all have detectors for Beasts. After all, there’s still a fundamental difference between Beasts and humans; Beasts retain their original eyes, and they glow at night.

I suspect the other party communicated with a super-advanced Beast and formed a partnership. They likely drank the blood of a super-advanced Beast. Such people’s eyes also glow, but their bloodline is weaker, so they can’t glow for long and can control it.”

”Able to drink the blood of a super-advanced Beast? Is he a subordinate of a super-advanced Beast?”

”Yes, and a rather capable subordinate. After all, ordinary subordinates wouldn’t be given blood to drink.”

Since the other party is a capable subordinate of a super-advanced Beast, does that mean the kidnapping of Xu Le and Ji Tao is related to a super-advanced Beast?

Why would they do this?

The letter they sent only stated that they needed a large batch of cardss and money. Do super-advanced Beasts also need these?

Can they make cardss?

Xu Bai felt that if they could make cardss, their advantages over humans would be too great.

If they surpass humans in quantity, quality, and ability, what can humans rely on to win?

”By the way, can Beasts make cardss?”

Mr. Number Three gave a wry smile.

”Currently, it seems they cannot make cardss. They already have such a huge advantage; if they could also make cardss, humanity’s living space would be further reduced.

However, the future is too uncertain. No one can predict whether Beasts will also learn to make cardss in the future.”

Xu Bai nodded. If Beasts could also make cardss, then humans would indeed have to worry. Fortunately, they can’t right now.

As for the future, it’s better not to think too much about such things. Perhaps in the future, humanity will have developed more powerful weapons to deal with Beasts.

Xu Bai still had confidence in this.

”This kidnapping might be related to a super-advanced Beast. Did they find out about the cardss I’ve been making recently?”

Xu Bai voiced his deepest concern.

”No, my analysis suggests they haven’t discovered it. If they had, they wouldn’t still kidnap the Ji Family’s child. It should be for money and resources. Perhaps they have another conspiracy for which they need these things.

Thunderbolt Company has been on the rise recently, and electric cardss are very popular. Perhaps that’s why they targeted Xu Le.”

With that, Xu Bai breathed a slight sigh of relief.

After all, different reasons should correspond to different strengths of the opponent.

In the former case, the opponent might know the capabilities they can use and would have countermeasures.

In the latter case, the opponent probably didn’t anticipate attracting the nation’s attention.

All Xu Bai could do now was wait.

He wouldn’t be careless after this. Xu Le would either stay by his side from now on, or he would assign more people to protect him. The outside world was still too dangerous.
