Different World Card Master: Change the World with Cards

261: Testing protective clothing”Is there any way for us to research materials without relying on luck?”

Xu Bai said, thinking for a moment, as if realizing that being completely independent of luck might be impossible, so he rephrased his question.

”Is there any way to reduce the reliance on luck for material acquisition?”

”There is a way. Our cards readers can retrieve cardss, right? I previously approached Bai Shan Research Institute and had them develop specialized equipment for material retrieval for us. However, currently, it only contains materials from my own Research Institute.

My Research Institute is a private one. Although I’ve acquired many materials from mercenaries, the quantity is limited and certainly not as much as the Government’s. It would be great if we could share materials with the Government.

Could you see if you can communicate with the Government about this?”

Ai Xunyan presented her request.

Although her Research Institute is highly sought after now, and the Government has extended an olive branch to her, many Government-funded Research Institutes are more powerful than hers, so the treatment they receive is relatively not as good.

She didn’t want to be controlled by others, so she wanted to cooperate with the Government, and needed Xu Bai as an intermediary.

Xu Bai couldn’t make the decision regarding her request, so he could only take Ai Xunyan to see the Administrator.

The Administrator agreed to Ai Xunyan’s request without much deliberation.

In fact, the Government has recently collected a large number of various Beast and plant materials, but there is a shortage of professional personnel to research these materials.

Research is not that simple; you can’t just grab anyone and make them a researcher. So, the Government was also quite worried.

Ai Xunyan’s proposal for cooperation now was exactly what they wanted. After some discussion about the cooperation details, the two parties happily reached an agreement and signed a contract.

As the matchmaker, Xu Bai also gained some convenience from it.

Ai Xunyan also knew that the Government’s treatment of her research team was largely due to Xu Bai asking her to research together, given out of respect for him. So, she returned the favor by giving Xu Bai benefits.

With the Government’s material database, Ai Xunyan’s research team’s progress accelerated, and they soon developed a protective material... October 23rd.

Outdoors.

”For testing, what height should we choose?”

Ai Xunyan: ”I have confidence in the material we developed; it won’t be torn by stones, branches, knives, or similar objects. But how much will the impact force of a fall be reduced after inflation? If it’s reduced too little, injuries will still occur.”

Although they had tested with dummies and pigs, they still couldn’t guarantee safety when it came to human testing.

There was no other way. Dummies and pigs don’t talk. Although they were checked for external injuries, what if there were internal injuries? Internal injuries are difficult to determine.

If someone asks if pigs wouldn’t squeal if they were injured?

That would be a big mistake.

You see, pigs falling from tens of meters high, even if not injured, would be scared to death. All the pigs that were tested foamed at the mouth and didn’t live for more than three days.

In fact, when they first saw the pigs die, they thought they were severely injured and had doctors check them multiple times. However, after a series of examinations, the doctors stated that these pigs had no problems; they simply died of fright.

But they found the doctor’s words unbelievable and continued to inquire. The doctors sent by the Research Institute to examine them grew impatient and wanted to quit.

Finally, they conducted multiple experiments again, and some pigs survived for more than three days. Only then did they accept that the previous pigs were not injured, but simply died of fright... ”It’s alright, our soldiers’ physical fitness is much higher than ordinary people’s, and the possibility of accidents is also relatively low.”

Ye Yizhong comforted them.

If he weren’t needed for command, he would have wanted to go up and test it himself.

Ye Yizhong is the commander of the first class of B Province’s army. General Liu Tianshi originally wanted to come, as he highly values weapons.

But he has been too busy recently, requiring his approval for various deployments, so he sent Ye Yizhong with 30 soldiers he trained to test the new weapon.

”Then we will still choose the same testing method as before, to be on the safe side. We will test every 10 meters. For the accuracy of the experiment, any problems must be reported to us; do not conceal anything.”

”Alright, don’t worry, my soldiers will report the situation truthfully.”

...After the discussion, the 30 soldiers brought by Ye Yizhong put on the developed protective suits, and then hooked the ropes from the manned drones onto the waist connection points.

This area adopted a special design. Firstly, it allows the pilot to maintain stability more easily in the air at the waist, and at the same time, it facilitates the pilot’s reaction in case of a sudden accident.

Testing begins.

The soldiers were lifted by the drones.

The soldiers did not make sounds of shock, but their eyes still showed great surprise.

Although they were asked if they were afraid of heights before coming, they never dreamed that they would be made to fly.

Because it was their first flight, their bodies were tense, and to maintain balance in the air, their hands involuntarily spread out.

”Report, designated height of 10 meters reached.”

The operator controlling the drone’s remote control below confirmed the height and reported loudly.

Ye Yizhong scanned the area and nodded.

”All personnel, inflate, unhook, descend.”

The soldiers in the air performed the actions according to the commander’s instructions. After everyone had landed, doctors went up to examine them and confirmed that no one was injured.

10 meters height was easy.

Next was 20m.

Safe.

30 meters.

Safe... 100 meters.

Still safe.

It seems that at present, pilots have no problems with descents within 100m.

They will not test higher flights for now, because if the drone flies too high, the controllers below cannot accurately observe the drone’s situation above, and cannot adjust the flight direction in time. Manned flights require more caution.

Subsequent tests at higher altitudes may require combining the experimental results from Xu Bai’s side. If it’s not ready by then, they will communicate via walkie-talkie.

They have two preparations... ”Clap clap clap clap clap ~”

The researchers applauded one after another.

The current results already proved their research was successful. They not only created the manned drone but also ensured the soldiers’ safety as much as possible.

The soldiers also looked at the drone parked nearby with flushed faces.

If there are no surprises, they will be the first to use this new weapon, meaning that during the Beast Tide, they will fly in the air to attack the Beasts.

Thinking of this, they were all eager to try it out, wanting to continue the tests and get the manned drone into production as soon as possible.
