Different World Card Master: Change the World with Cards

158: Are you stupid?Xu Bai hadn’t expected them to have come up with so much in just one night.

He also shared some of his own thoughts from last night with everyone.

“Indeed, on the mountain, our large wind turbines face a more extreme environment. For example, there will be water vapor. Small wind turbines can cool down through natural ventilation, but large wind turbines cannot.

To cope with this, we also need to set up a cooling system, and we need to consider whether this cooling system will be for land wind or sea wind.

For instance, there’s also lightning, and at sea, there’s salt spray. On rainy days, there’s water, and in some places, there are even flying Strange Beast (mysterious beasts). All these will affect our wind turbines, so we also need to implement a protection system.”

Wu Zijin raised his hand: “Regarding the cooling system, I have a few ideas. For land wind, we can use ’forced air cooling’ by installing cooling fans. For sea wind, we can use a ’water cooling system,’ which has high cooling efficiency and can resist salt spray.”

“That’s a good idea.”

Liu Mengyan: “Lightning protection is indeed very important. Our current research on electricity is already considered the strongest, but we still can’t research lightning. The energy of lightning is too powerful, and its destructiveness is also very strong. We currently have no ability to block lightning, so we can focus on guiding or diverting it.

For example, can we guide the energy of lightning to the ground? I have an idea: can we ’attract electricity with electricity’? Can we actively attract lightning, introduce the lightning current into a device, and then guide it into the ground?”

Xu Bai was very surprised; what Liu Mengyan described was precisely the principle of a lightning rod.

A lightning rod actively attracts lightning to the ground, but it also needs to pay attention to shielding, isolation, and overvoltage protection, otherwise, it can easily be struck.

Xu Bai added: “I think this idea is fine, but we also need to pay attention. The damage from lightning is not only due to direct strikes but more often comes from indirect effects. For this, we need shielding and isolation to block the path of indirect lightning damage.

To deal with the indirect effects of lightning, we can create an electromagnetic barrier. This electromagnetic barrier is actually very simple: just use conductive materials to wrap the things we need to protect. This way, external electromagnetic fields cannot penetrate the shielding layer, and internal electromagnetic fields will not radiate outwards.

Alternatively, we can directly cut off the conduction path, preventing induced voltage from passing through our isolation barrier.

And then there’s the need for overvoltage protection, because even though we can reduce most of the lightning through shielding and isolation, a small amount of voltage may still invade the equipment.

For this...”

Xu Bai spoke at length, and Liu Mengyan looked at Xu Bai with a hint of admiration.

She only had an idea, but she didn’t expect Team Leader Bai to understand it so quickly and consider so many aspects.

Afterward, everyone continued their research on large wind turbines... One week later.

Inside Bai Xiaobai’s research institute.

Liu Mengyun: “Now that the large wind turbine has been built, how do we test it? Where do we test it?”

Wu Zijin: “Should we just test it directly on the mountain top outside our institute?”

Everyone was speechless... Liu Mengyun couldn’t hold back and immediately started scolding: “Are you stupid? If we put this on top of our mountain, people eight hundred li away will be able to see it. Wouldn’t that be equivalent to telling everyone that there’s something wrong with this mountain!

Do you believe that if we put it up today, a bunch of people will come to check it out tomorrow, and then our research institute here will be discovered? Do you want to move to a different research institute?”

Wu Zijin raised his hands in a gesture of surrender, actively admitting his mistake.

“I was wrong, please ignore my suggestion just now. I wasn’t thinking when I spoke.”

Seeing Wu Zijin admit his mistake, Liu Mengyun didn’t continue to scold him.

Liu Mengyan: “Why don’t we ask General Lei Feng? The military training grounds seem to have a lot of mountain peaks. It should be fine if we test it over there, and our safety will also be guaranteed.”

Xu Bai: “Indeed, our generator also needs a base, and they should have more experience with that.”

So, everyone immediately agreed and decided to go find Lei Feng together... A few hours later.

Inside Lei Feng’s office.

Lei Feng looked at the four people in front of him.

“So you’re only looking for me because you want to test the cards?”

“Yes.”

The four nodded in unison.

Lei Feng felt a headache coming on. He thought they had encountered some danger and wanted his protection; he was even planning to send troops to protect them, but it turned out they just wanted to borrow a venue to test a cards.

“Are you sure that’s all? Do you need people to provide close protection for you?”

Wu Zijin: “No need to send people to protect us. Currently, we are mostly in the research institute.”

Xu Bai: “Actually, we also need you to provide a construction team.”

“A construction team? Didn’t your company already arrange for others to build it? Are you building something new now?”

“Our experiment requires building a base.”

“What are you experimenting with?”

“That’s confidential for now. We’ll tell you once we succeed.”

“Alright, suit yourselves. I’ll have my adjutant arrange it for you. You can find him for anything you need later.”

Lei Feng waved his hand, instructing Fang Yuanming, who was beside him, to arrange a mountain peak for their test and contact the army’s construction team.

Xu Bai and the others thanked General Lei and left with Fang Yuanming... Fang Yuanming was Lei Feng’s assistant, specifically responsible for handling General Lei’s daily affairs unrelated to military matters and coordinating communications. So, this time, he was in charge of Xu Bai’s matters.

“Hello everyone, my name is Fang Yuanming, and I am General Lei’s adjutant.”

He was short, about forty years old, and only upon closer inspection could one notice that his other eye did not move.

“What happened to your eye?” Liu Mengyun carefully asked him.

Fang Yuanming’s expression didn’t change; instead, he answered easily.

“I was injured by a mysterious beast before, and then I lost my sight in that eye.”

Wu Zijin was a little puzzled. Isn’t medicine very advanced now? Logically, it should be treatable.

“Can’t it be cured? Don’t hospitals even reattach severed hands? This eye should be able to be reattached, and military personnel injured on duty can receive free treatment.”

“The main thing is that the eyeball is gone; it was eaten by the mysterious beast and can’t be found.”
