Technological Empire Starts From Shanzhai System

Chapter 271: Han Tang Academy of Sciences!
Chapter 271 Han Tang Academy of Sciences!

It can be said that it was once one of the world’s third largest X86 instruction set CPU chip manufacturers.

But unfortunately at that time, the company was facing Intel’s Pentium processor and changing the history of A.M.D.

The K6 and K7 of the legendary processors that made A.M.D’s market share reach 25% at the peak!

The boss and the second child competed in the market, and naturally killed the innocent third child, so Cyrix was eliminated by the market without accident.

And A.M.D has successfully survived in the market by virtue of its second child status and two legendary processors, K6 and K7.

To be honest, if it weren’t for the anti-monopoly law holding up the big wooden stick, then Intel relied on the powerful Pentium processor and the later developed Core processor.

Intel can continue to kill the second-in-command A.M.D company in the market! ”

Hearing Professor He casually tell the history of the once magnificent business competition in the CPU processor industry, the people at the scene couldn’t help feeling shocked.

It turns out that there are still so many historical insiders in the general-purpose processor market. What about the last VIA (Weisheng Electronics).

Why haven’t they heard of this company’s processor? Is he a processor company that was born later? Why haven’t they seen this company’s processor yet?

”Next, let me introduce the last company with the X86 instruction set authorization, which is also VIA (Weisheng Electronics), which acquired Cyrix and Centaur.”

”Acquired Cyrix and Centaur?!”

Li Zheng in front of the TV exclaimed, he murmured Professor He’s words with disbelief in his eyes.

This company named Weisheng Electronics actually acquired two other companies with X86 instruction set?

Doesn’t that mean that there are only four companies in the world with X86 instruction sets, A.M.D, IBM, VIA, and IDT?

On the other side, Professor He didn’t stop his words because of people’s shock, only to see him speak slowly:

”The company named VIA (Weisheng Electronics) acquired Cyrix and Centaur in 1999, and obtained the technologies and products that these two companies once owned.

It is one of the fourth manufacturers in the world to obtain the authorization of X86 instruction set production.

It is also one of the only manufacturers currently qualified to win the third largest processor in the world.

It is a pity that they had a huge capital investment, but did not have a huge scientific research strength to support the research and development of the CPU, so they made a good start but did not have a good end.

We still haven’t been able to use the general-purpose processor of Weisheng Electronics. ”

The hostess who captured the key words of Professor He’s words lit up instantly, and she asked curiously:

”Professor He listened to what you said, if Hantang Technology can acquire Weisheng Electronics.

So Tang Technology can obtain the production authorization of the X86 instruction set, and then manufacture a general-purpose processor? ”

Hearing the words of the hostess, Professor He chuckled at this time, and then said with a smile:

”You are thinking too simply. Do you know that the instruction set is constantly updated, and the computer system is constantly advancing?”

Hearing Professor He’s words, the hostess, including the audience in front of the TV, was slightly taken aback.

“Since Weisheng Corporation acquired Cyrix and Centaur in 1999, you can see why they have not produced their own general-purpose chips.

Instead, they have been messing around in the field of motherboard chipsets. Instead of launching their own CPU chips, they have been working for A.M.D chips? ”

When Professor He told the past secret, people couldn’t help showing curious eyes.

Since that Weisheng Electronics merged and acquired Cyrix and Centaur in 1999.

Theoretically they should be able to produce their own general-purpose processors, so why keep producing motherboard chipsets.

For so long, why didn’t they produce their own company’s general-purpose processors, but instead served A.M.D?

”The reason is actually very simple. You only need to think about why Cyrix and Centaur, two companies that can manufacture CPUs, failed.

Their failure lies in the Wintel alliance!

Because of the Wintel alliance, after Intel launches its own new technology or multimedia instruction set, Weisoft is always the first to follow up, and also performs multiple optimizations for the instruction set.

Other companies don’t have such good treatment, their new technology support is always one step behind, and even the instruction set they launched themselves, WeiRuan system doesn’t support it at all!

In this case, how should other companies compete with Intel.

So although Weisheng Electronics has acquired two companies, it also has the development ability to produce X86 processors, but because of the Wintel alliance.

They are also afraid to invest huge amounts of money, only to end up in the same fate as the previous two companies.

And at the beginning of the new century, Weisheng was also involved in Intel’s patent case.

They had to invest huge funds and energy to deal with the patent infringement lawsuit initiated by Intel.

So this delay has been delayed until now, and it has been a full 6 years, and Weisheng Electronics has not launched its own processor.

Instead they’ve been messing around in the motherboard chipset arena they’ve always been in. ”

Hearing Professor He’s words, the hostess nodded slightly, and then asked as if thinking of something:

”Although Weisheng Electronics seems to be in a bad mood, this should not prevent Hantang Technology from acquiring their X86 instruction set patents and then launching their own X86 chips.”

Hearing the question from the hostess, Professor He nodded slightly, and then asked:

”Do you remember what I just said? Instruction sets and computer systems are constantly updated.

One generation is stronger than one generation!

Weisheng Electronics has no funds to invest in processor research and development because of the patent case initiated by Intel Corporation.

So their processor instruction set is still at the level of the early 1990s, at the level of 486 and 586 processors!

During this period of time, Intel and A.M.D companies are constantly developing and launching their new technologies and new instruction sets.

In this case, what is the use of Hantang Technology’s acquisition of the X86 instruction set?

In order to keep up with the needs of multimedia and high-performance processors of the times, Hantang Technology can only base its core on the X86 instruction set architecture of the 486 or 586 processors from the 1990s.

Specially developed a new multimedia and high-performance instruction set that bypasses Intel patents to meet the needs of consumers for multimedia and high-performance processors.

But after doing so, will Weiruan system support it?

not support!

If the Weisoft system does not support it, it means that the multimedia and high-performance instruction set developed by Hantang Technology with the X86 instruction set is useless, and it will only waste power without any effect.

Finally, we went around in a circle and found that Hantang Technology’s research and development of general-purpose processors is undoubtedly a dead end! ”

Hearing Professor He’s words, the scene was completely silent, and despair appeared in people’s eyes at this moment!

People at this time discovered that the Wintel alliance of Intel and Weiruan is so terrible.

The alliance between these two companies can be said to have blocked the rise of other backward companies!

Hantang Technology has absolutely no possibility of breaking through the Wintel Alliance!

At this time, the audience in front of the TV has passed Professor He’s ingenious quotations and various facts pointed out.

They had foreseen in advance that Hantang Technology would fail.

The Wintel alliance is too scary, and the alliance between them is too strong.

No wonder A.M.D’s processors have been unable to beat Intel. It turns out that all the reasons are due to the Wintel alliance!

Time passed slowly, and then Professor He talked about some other views.

Every point of view points directly to the reason why Hantang Technology could not successfully develop Daxia’s own general-purpose processor.

Every reason is not a reason based on speculation, but there are all kinds of actual evidence in front.

It can be said that every time Professor He said a reason, the mood of the people in Daxia became even more depressed.

Time passed slowly, and the program was officially broadcast.

After the talk show ended, under the influence of unknown forces, various newspapers also reprinted Professor He’s words one after another.

So the negative news that is not conducive to Hantang Technology spread outward!

…

June 2, 2005.

When all kinds of news unfavorable to Hantang Technology from the outside world are brewing and spreading outward.

At this time, Lin Xuan was accompanying the big shot to a grand ribbon-cutting ceremony in front of the gate of a newly built building.

This building is actually still under construction. At present, only a layer of walls has been built, and there is only a large 5-story building inside.

Although there is only one complete building, the area enclosed by this large wall is 2.1 square kilometers. His name is the Han and Tang Research Institute!

Although the name of the Han and Tang Research Institute is so powerful, but now the interior is actually empty and there is only one research building, and it is a bit unreasonable to say it.

But it’s only now that it’s not compelling enough, because it’s within the 2.1-square-kilometer wall.

According to the plan, more than 20 large research buildings and corresponding staff dormitories and small villas will be built in the future.

In addition, a large number of plants will be planted in the space between the buildings to form a garden-style research institute.

So the Han and Tang Research Institute is destined to become a super-large research institute that shocks the world in the future.

After all, a research institute covers an area of 2.1 square kilometers. It has to be said that such a large research area alone is already a big deal that shocked the whole summer and even the world.

After all, the Xia Ke Academy, a world-renowned super-large research institution, has a total area of only three square kilometers.

The total area of hillsides and flat land currently occupied by Hantang Technology is 2.1 square kilometers.

Just in terms of the area of the research institute, it is enough to win the second largest super research institute in China.

Of course, the size of the research institute does not represent research strength, nor does it represent anything.

What can really determine the strength of scientific research is how much money the research institute will invest in scientific research and development, how many advanced experimental instruments and equipment there are in the research institute, and how many doctoral students there are...

”Lin Xuan, work hard next time, and you can tell me anytime you have any difficulties.”

The big man who had finished cutting the ribbon with Lin Xuan smiled and patted Lin Xuan on the shoulder, looking at him with satisfaction and love in his eyes.
