Technological Empire Starts From Shanzhai System

Chapter 270: Wintel Alliance
Chapter 270 Wintel Alliance

But invisibly, many company bosses have paid attention to patents.

It can be regarded as a small increase in the scientific research and innovation capabilities of many large companies, and it can be regarded as some kind of intangible credit.

Of course after this incident, it is conceivable that there will be more patent lawsuits within Daxia in the future.

After all, holding a patent can blackmail so much money, can they learn from the WiFi Alliance?

There may not be many such companies, but they will definitely exist, so it is considered a bad start invisibly.

At this time, the hostess slowly asked the next question, which immediately caught the eyes of many people:

”Professor He, if Lin Xuan directly abandons the X86 instruction set, can he enter the computer general-purpose processor market? How about developing Daxia’s computer general-purpose processor chip?”

The words of the hostess successfully made many people’s eyes shine.

At this time, many people’s eyes sparkled, as if they had discovered a Watson point. A Watson point that can break through the crisis!

Professor He nodded slightly and said with a smile:

”If it is just to manufacture a general-purpose processor chip, Hantang Technology does have the strength to manufacture it.”

”Hahaha…”

A viewer named Li Zheng in front of the TV heard Professor He say that Hantang Technology can indeed create a general-purpose processor.

He breathed a sigh of relief, and couldn’t help laughing, happy that Hantang Technology could manufacture a general-purpose processor.

But at this time, another sentence that Professor He said gave him a chill:

”Although Hantang Technology can develop its own general-purpose processor based on the Hantang instruction set, is such a processor useful?

Can he chat with penguins? Can play penguin game? Can you play the journey? Can play legend? Can you play World of Warcraft?

Does it support those stand-alone games instead of those online games?

Although it’s a bit wrong for me to describe it as a game, but even games are like this, wouldn’t other software be more miserable? ! ”

At this time, Li Zheng heard Professor He’s words, he only felt a deep chill, and felt that it was absolutely impossible for Hantang Technology to develop a general-purpose processor!

Professor He is right. Although Hantang Technology has the strength to develop its own general-purpose processor, Hantang Technology also has its own Hantang operating system.

But if the CPU chip of Hantang Technology can’t play games, what about the performance of Hantang general processor?

Totally useless!

With the strength of Hantang Technology, there may be some office software such as WPX that will support the CPU processor of Hantang Technology, and even Penguin Chat may develop a special version of Penguin Chat.

But what is the use of a computer that can only be used for office work?

Li Zheng asked himself, if Hantang Technology launched a computer that can use office software, browse the web, and chat with Penguin, but can’t play online games and stand-alone games, will he buy a computer with pitifully few computer software?

The answer is no doubt.

He will never buy this garbage, whoever buys this garbage will be unlucky!

At this time, patriotism does not have much appeal. After all, it is thousands of dollars. Even if you are patriotic, you can’t spend thousands of dollars for nothing.

If the slogan of patriotism is really useful, then why has the ”domestic computer operating system” been developed for so many years, and it has not been able to get up until today?

So Li Zheng felt terribly chilled. A general-purpose processor that doesn’t support games is rubbish. No one buys a computer that doesn’t support games and has terrible software!

And the general-purpose processor of Hantang Technology that no one buys will lead to no game companies willing to support the general-purpose processor, and finally form a vicious cycle!

The strong get stronger and the weak get weaker!

At this time, Li Zheng finally understood what Professor He meant by patent barriers?

No wonder there are only two companies in the world that can manufacture computer CPUs. The reason behind this is not that other companies have no strength.

Rather, those with vested interests have built a thick wall fortress to keep out all powerful competitors!

”I wonder if you have heard of the Wintel alliance?”

Hearing Professor He’s words, the people at the scene were stunned for a moment. What does this Wintel alliance mean?

“The Wintel Alliance is a silent alliance between Intel Corporation, the holder of the X86 instruction set patent, and the computer system Weisoft Corporation.

Although there is no written evidence to show that this alliance exists, it has indeed reached an alliance in fact. There is at least an invisible tacit understanding between the two parties. This is an indisputable fact! ”

Hearing Professor Yang’s words, the people at the scene were slightly taken aback again.

This Wintel alliance seems to be very unusual after listening to Professor He’s words. What is the purpose of this alliance? what’s the effect.

On the other side, Professor He looked at those curious gazes, and he slowly explained what the Wintel alliance is.

”The main rules of the Wintel Alliance are that the Wintel system will only support processors with the X86 instruction set, and the Wintel system will no longer support other instruction sets.

So since the establishment of the Wintel Alliance, Weisoft no longer supports the instruction sets of other processors, and only supports the x86 instruction set.

In this way, because Weiruan system no longer supports other instruction sets, the difficulty of developing their system has been reduced virtually, and the system bugs caused by conflicts of multiple instruction sets have also been reduced.

Intel also only needs to win over Weisoft, and both parties have obtained a great complementary relationship of interests.

So the Wintel alliance is still stable since its establishment!

In this case, I’m sure Weiruan will never support Hantang Technology’s Hantang instruction set.

Let’s not talk about the bad relationship between Silicon Valley and Hantang Technology, let’s take our world’s richest man, Mr. Bill Gaici.

Mr. Bill Gaici certainly doesn’t want to add new troubles to his Wei soft company.

Because every time the Weisoft system adds support for an instruction set processor, the Weisoft system will become bloated invisibly.

Because it needs to support two completely different instruction sets, Weiruan system will also have more bugs.

This is one of the reasons why the Wintel Alliance was established in the first place.

So I’m sure that Weisoft will never support the Hantang instruction set, so Hantang Technology must have failed to enter the field of general-purpose processors.

The Weiruan system is the key factor that determines the success of Hantang Technology, and it is absolutely impossible for Weiruan to support Hantang Technology. At that time, what is the possibility of Hantang Technology’s victory?

I’m sure Lin Xuan will suffer a major setback this time, and Hantang Technology will also waste a lot of money in vain! ”

The audience at the scene, including the audience in front of the TV, heard Professor He say all kinds of well-founded words, and people couldn’t help being convinced by Professor He.

Indeed, in the face of various difficulties, it is absolutely impossible for Hantang Technology to successfully develop a general-purpose processor!

This is not because Hantang Technology cannot be developed, but because people have already built a high patent wall to block Hantang Technology from the door.

So, the scene fell silent, and everyone fell into silence for 30 seconds!

But at this time, the hostess saw that the stalemate in the scene was not good, so she asked another topic:

”Professor He, hearing what you said, I feel that it is really difficult to develop a general-purpose processor, but I just recalled what you said before.

You said that there are several other companies in the world that have mastered the production and use authorization of the X86 instruction set.

Can Hantang Technology obtain the authorization for the production and use of the X86 instruction set from other companies? Isn’t this a corner to find a way out. ”

Hearing the hostess’ words, Li Zheng, who was extremely depressed, came back to his senses in an instant, and couldn’t help showing surprise in his eyes.

Indeed, if Hantang Technology cannot obtain the production authorization of the X86 instruction set, it is indeed impossible for Hantang Technology to manufacture general-purpose processors.

But if the production and use authorization of the X86 instruction set production instruction set is obtained in an alternative way, isn’t that a high barrier to bypass, and can computer CPUs be produced from then on? !

At this time, Li Zheng’s eyes showed surprise, and then he looked at the TV with ecstasy, waiting for Professor He to give his answer.

”Historically, many companies have obtained the production authorization of the X86 instruction set, they are IBM, A.M.D, IDTCentaur, Cyrix, VIA...

Among them, IBM needless to say, they have their own POWER processor and POWER instruction set, they will not produce chips with X86 instruction set.

Needless to say, A.M.D is our regular customer and the second largest manufacturer of CPU processors in the world.

The company’s historically highest market share reached 25%, almost causing Intel to overturn and be dragged off its throne.

But Intel then launched a Core processor that was enough to make a big mark in history, and once again pressed A.M.D under the soles of its shoes.

The remaining IDT company, although they have the X86 instruction set, their processors have never been sold to the civilian market in Daxia.

Because they are mainly engaged in the Internet communication equipment industry in Medigo, research and development of CPU is not their main business.

And their X86 chip is not a computer CPU, but an Internet communication chip that uses part of the X86 instruction set.

Subsequent Centaur company, they are mainly engaged in the development of low-power X86 instruction set general-purpose processors.

But why haven’t we seen their CPU chips in the market.

This is because they have been acquired many years ago, by the last VIA company I just introduced (Weisheng Electronics)! ”

Hearing this, the audience in front of the TV nodded slightly, and then became curious about the last chip company VIA (Weisheng Electronics).

This company named VIA (Weisheng Electronics) can acquire Centaur, so its strength should be good.

Why haven’t they seen this VIA (Weisheng Electronics) company’s CPU chip sold in Daxia?

This VIA (Weisheng Electronics) company can acquire Centaur, so it should be very powerful.

Why haven’t they heard of this company’s existence, nor seen their CPU sales.

On the other side, Professor He didn’t stop his words, but he looked at those curious eyes and continued:

”The next company is Cyrix, which once made a great name in the global CPU market.
