Devouring Evolution: Devouring Nuclear Bombs at the Start

123: Chapter 123 Atonement and Impossible DreamsAs the headquarters was devoured by Lin Sheng, the expedition of the Origin Star people also came to an end.

However, Lin Sheng knew that the Origin Star people were not extinct.

A fleet had escaped before the fight.

The reason Lin Sheng knew about that fleet was because the leader of the escaped fleet was Yi Di.

And just a while ago, Yi Di had retained a part of Lin Sheng’s body tissue.

Coincidentally, when Yi Di left, he took that piece of Lin Sheng’s body tissue with him.

Although separated from his body tissue by an unknown number of light-years, Lin Sheng had a feeling that as long as he wanted to, he could be reborn from that piece of tissue.

But Lin Sheng had no intention of doing that now.

The Origin Star people were just a side quest; there were still matters to resolve here on Eighteen Stars, and he didn’t want to leave directly.

Although going back and forth wasn’t troublesome, the required evolution points would be a significant expense.

”Roar roar!”

Watching those warships’ suicidal actions, the Bone Stripper scratched its head in confusion.

It was very smart, but even as smart as it was, it couldn’t understand what the Origin Star people were thinking just now.

Unable to figure it out, the Bone Stripper simply stopped thinking about it. Now that the external enemies were resolved, it was time to deal with the affairs of this planet.

It released an electromagnetic wave toward Lin Sheng, signaling for him to follow it to the Ground.

Receiving this message, Lin Sheng didn’t leave immediately.

He signaled the Bone Stripper to wait for him for a moment.

Subsequently, while cleaning up the aftermath on the field, Lin Sheng released nano-flies, attempting to take control of the ”Fusion Strike” system overhead.

Glancing at the busy Lin Sheng, the Bone Stripper didn’t go over to disturb him.

It looked down at Eighteen Stars below, a hint of attachment flashing in its eyes.

...

At the North Pole of Eighteen Stars, Lin Sheng and the Bone Stripper stood facing each other.

After devouring the Origin Star warships, Lin Sheng’s body length had reached 160,000 meters, but facing the Bone Stripper, his size was still at a disadvantage.

However, he had already controlled the ”Fusion Strike” system left by the Origin Star people. If the Bone Stripper made any suspicious move, a beam of light with a temperature of tens of millions of degrees Celsius would immediately hit the Bone Stripper’s head.

The Bone Stripper looked at Lin Sheng, and Lin Sheng looked at the Bone Stripper.

After the two looked at each other, the Bone Stripper was the first to speak:

”You give me a familiar feeling.”

”Perhaps.”

Lin Sheng replied ambiguously.

The Bone Stripper didn’t mind Lin Sheng’s evasive answer.

It suddenly dispersed the gray mist all over its body, revealing a form that had been completely distorted by ”chaotic information.”

”Since you still retain intelligence, you should know everything that happened before, right?”

”I want to know, how do you view the things I did before?”

The Bone Stripper didn’t know Lin Sheng came from another planet; it subconsciously identified Lin Sheng as a native creature that still possessed intelligence despite being hit by ”chaotic information.”

Lin Sheng was stunned for a moment by the Bone Stripper’s question, then asked in return:

”Are you referring to the matter of fighting the invaders, or the events when the aberration first occurred?”

”The events when it first occurred.”

At this moment, the Bone Stripper was like an old man with not much time left; it crouched on the Ground, waiting for Lin Sheng’s evaluation of it.

Lin Sheng recalled for a moment.

In the early stages of the aberration, the Bone Stripper had been hunting survivors on the planet, and it would strip the survivors’ flesh clean, leaving only a pile of bones.

As an onlooker, Lin Sheng felt there was no right or wrong to the Bone Stripper’s behavior, so it was hard to pass judgment.

”This planet has always been about the survival of the fittest. You are powerful, so you can prey on the weak.”

”As for that behavior of yours, I cannot make a judgment.”

Lin Sheng shook his head, giving the Bone Stripper a neutral evaluation.

But upon hearing what Lin Sheng said, the Bone Stripper’s eyes froze.

It suddenly stood up and pointed at Lin Sheng, speaking in an extremely certain tone:

”You are not a creature of this planet!”

Seeing the Bone Stripper suddenly stand up in excitement, Lin Sheng thought it was about to attack.

He almost used ”Fusion Strike,” but seeing that the Bone Stripper had no intention to attack, Lin Sheng temporarily suppressed his urge to strike, intending to chat with the Bone Stripper further.

He had a feeling that after resolving the Origin Star people, the Bone Stripper had entered a state of being ”spent” after fulfilling its obsession.

In this state, it was highly likely that Lin Sheng could resolve the Bone Stripper directly without a fight.

”How did you guess?”

Lin Sheng asked in surprise, looking at the Bone Stripper who had returned to a relaxed state.

”I am the strongest on this planet, the Planet Lord of this planet, and also the guardian of this planet.”

”The creatures of this planet are all my subjects. In my heart, protecting them is my duty, and it is the same in the hearts of my subjects.”

”What you just said is completely not the kind of thought a creature of this planet should have.”

”In fact, I can hear that you are speaking those words entirely from a standpoint outside of this planet.”

”You are not a native creature of this planet. Who exactly are...”

”It’s you?”

At this time, Lin Sheng did not continue to hide his identity.

A cloud of grayish-white feather gas was exhaled from his mouth, and the Bone Stripper instantly knew his identity.

This was the creature that had caused it to suffer a great loss a long time ago.

A long time ago, the Bone Stripper had always wanted to kill Lin Sheng.

But today, when Lin Sheng appeared before it again, the Bone Stripper could already calmly face this creature it had always wanted to kill.

”If you want to die, I can help you.”

”If you don’t want to die, I will still kill you.”

Lin Sheng could vaguely sense a death wish from the Bone Stripper.

Therefore, he became bolder in the subsequent conversation.

Facing such a blunt question from Lin Sheng, the Bone Stripper was stunned, and then it suddenly laughed.

”Haha.”

”That battle with you before was the closest I’ve ever been to death in my life. I thought that would be the only time I’d experience it.”

”I didn’t expect that I would ultimately die at your hands.”

”Hahaha!”

”Do you know why I’m so happy?”

While laughing, the Bone Stripper suddenly turned and asked Lin Sheng a question.

Seeing the Bone Stripper like this, Lin Sheng felt relieved enough to rest his claw on it.

”Because you are very glad—glad you didn’t risk your life to kill me before.”

”If you had killed me then, you would have lost such an opportunity to end yourself.”

Lin Sheng spoke out the Bone Stripper’s inner thoughts through ”Omniscience.”

”Uh...”

The Bone Stripper was completely stumped by Lin Sheng.

You’ve said everything, so what am I supposed to say next?

”By the way, you didn’t come to this planet just because you wanted to kill me, right?”

”To be honest, our grudge shouldn’t be enough for you to go through so much trouble to kill me, right?”

At this moment, the Bone Stripper only wanted to ask everything it wanted to know before dying.

Regarding why Lin Sheng was so persistent in killing it, the Bone Stripper was still quite puzzled.

”Killing you is to fulfill the last wish of a family member.”

”As for why I came to this planet, it was a move of necessity.”

Speaking of this, Lin Sheng shook his head.

”Do you have anything else you want to ask?”

”If you do, I can chat with you more; I have plenty of time.”

”Nothing else.”

Hearing this, the Bone Stripper shook its head.

Although it really wanted to know who the family member Lin Sheng mentioned was, Lin Sheng obviously had no intention of explaining, so the Bone Stripper didn’t press further.

”The invaders have been eliminated, and I can be considered to have ’atoned’ for my previous actions.”

”Kill me, and let me, this ’sinner,’ dissipate along with the sins I have committed.”

The Bone Stripper opened its arms, waiting peacefully for death to descend.

Lin Sheng placed his claw on the Bone Stripper’s body and closed his eyes. Just as the Bone Stripper was about to lose patience and urge him, the sharp claws sliced through its flesh.

The Bone Stripper’s body was divided into many pieces by Lin Sheng, but its consciousness remained clear.

Black Tentacles spread crazily, trying to repair the Bone Stripper’s body.

Seeing this, Lin Sheng didn’t give the Tentacles a chance to repair the body, swallowing the Bone Stripper’s body piece by piece into his stomach.

Until finally, only a head remained of the Bone Stripper.

”From your standpoint, you were a competent Planet Lord.”

Hearing these words, the Bone Stripper closed its eyes peacefully.

...

Just now, Lin Sheng had learned some of the Bone Stripper’s thoughts through ”Omniscience.”

And after understanding the Bone Stripper’s thoughts, Lin Sheng suddenly fell silent.

The Bone Stripper had a dream.

It wanted to eliminate this generation of aberration creatures and let Eighteen Stars naturally give birth to the next generation of normal creatures.

To achieve this dream, in the early stages of the aberration, it took action to kill the powerhouses of Eighteen Stars to prevent those powerhouses from bringing disaster to Eighteen Stars due to the aberration.

To maintain its conscious clarity, it would catch a creature every day and carefully strip the creature’s bones clean, using it to exercise its focus so that its consciousness would not deteriorate further.

After driving away the Origin Star people, its dream was already halfway achieved.

The aberration creatures of Eighteen Stars had been hunted to extinction by the Origin Star people, and the Origin Star people had also been eliminated by it and Lin Sheng.

Next, Eighteen Stars only needed to wait for the emergence of a new generation of creatures.

And after completing this series of events, the Bone Stripper also actively embraced death, using this method to atone for the killings it had committed.

It had to be said that the Bone Stripper’s dream was great.

But Lin Sheng knew that the Bone Stripper’s dream was just a beautiful illusion.

In another few thousand years, Eighteen Stars would collapse into a star.

At that time, it would be impossible for Eighteen Stars to give birth to any more life.

”Sigh.”

Lin Sheng sighed silently.

From the Bone Stripper’s standpoint, it was indeed a competent Planet Lord; everything it did was for the future of this planet.

Lin Sheng found a huge stone tablet and used his claws to carve a few Chinese characters on it that only he could understand.

”Tomb of the Planet Lord”
