Devouring Evolution: Devouring Nuclear Bombs at the Start

115: Chapter 115 The Giant ParameciumLin Sheng left the vicinity of the Warp Tunnel, but he did not return to South Pole Mountain.

Through ”Omniscience,” Lin Sheng had already learned that South Pole Mountain had been occupied by the Origin Star people.

Going there now would be like walking straight into a trap.

Next, Lin Sheng planned to stay in the Black Belt.

Although the Origin Star people’s Life-form Radar could detect this area, the Black Belt had a strong shielding effect against the outside world; while Lin Sheng stayed here, the Origin Star people would be unable to accurately pinpoint his specific location.

However, staying in the Black Belt was only a temporary measure.

After all, a Bone Stripper was still hiding here; once Lin Sheng encountered the Bone Stripper, a fierce battle would inevitably break out between them.

While pondering his next destination, Lin Sheng flew through the Black Belt.

The Warp Tunnel and its surrounding areas had all been struck by the Origin Star Expeditionary Force using antimatter weapons, but once outside that range, the bombed areas became very scattered.

Seeing those scattered craters in the Black Belt, Lin Sheng breathed a slight sigh of relief.

He was still counting on devouring the creatures in the Black Belt to obtain talents; if the creatures in the Black Belt were hunted to extinction by the Expeditionary Force, he would suffer a huge loss this time.

Fortunately, the Origin Star people’s firepower was limited, and Eighteen Stars was absurdly large.

Such a vast place couldn’t be cleared out in a short amount of time.

”Ga ga!”

Just as Lin Sheng was thinking, several coarse, heavy growls reached his ears.

Hearing these growls, Lin Sheng’s heart stirred.

In Eighteen’s memories, these were the cries of the native creatures of the Black Belt.

Lin Sheng turned his head toward the direction of the sound.

In that direction, several dark shadows were rushing toward Lin Sheng through the darkness.

Although aberration would cause creatures to lose their sanity, if they were weaker creatures like the Droplet Scatter, their social instincts would still be desperately preserved by their genes.

This situation also benefited Lin Sheng, as it saved him from having to search for these creatures one by one in the Black Belt.

There were seven creatures in total this time; although their body lengths weren’t considered large, their courage was absurdly great.

With a body size of about 3,000 meters, they dared to come and hunt Lin Sheng, a creature over 30,000 meters long.

Lin Sheng reached out with his claws and, as if grabbing a little chick, snatched one of the creatures into his hand.

Once they were closer, Lin Sheng clearly saw the appearance of these creatures.

The appearance of these creatures was somewhat similar to ”paramecia.”

The creatures had no feet; their method of movement relied on the wriggling of soft tissue on their abdomens.

Perhaps because they had been in darkness for a long time and had no need for eyes, Lin Sheng discovered that these creatures hadn’t even grown heads; they relied on a downward-facing opening on their abdomens to make sounds and eat.

In addition to the tumors and Tentacles produced by aberration, Lin Sheng could also see four of the creature’s original tentacle-like organs.

These four tentacle-like organs were much longer than the Tentacles mutated by ”chaotic information”; the creature’s body length was 3 kilometers, and these Tentacles alone were 1 kilometer long.

The tips of the Tentacles were covered in fine hairs; through ”Omniscience,” Lin Sheng learned that these four Tentacles were organs used by the creature in its early stages for pathfinding, functioning much like an ant’s antennae.

However, after evolving the ability to observe things with consciousness, the creatures rarely used these four Tentacles.

Lin Sheng squeezed the creature in his hand, ignoring the few creatures at his feet that were gnawing on his toes. After a thought, he gave this species a fitting name.

”I’ll call you Great Crawler Worm.”

Lin Sheng put the Great Crawler Worm he was holding into his mouth.

At the same time, he used the method of absorbing other creatures’ consciousness to strengthen himself, which he had obtained from Eighteen’s memories, to absorb this Great Crawler Worm’s consciousness.

evolution points +15.41 million

The evolution points given by a 3-kilometer Great Crawler Worm were pitifully few, but this couldn’t be entirely blamed on the Great Crawler Worm; after all, of this creature’s 3-kilometer body length, 2 kilometers were just made up of Tentacles.

Lin Sheng didn’t care about the number of evolution points given by the Great Crawler Worm; after all, the value of such things lay not in evolution points, but in their enhancement of talents.

However, after Lin Sheng finished devouring these Great Crawler Worms, he felt as if his consciousness hadn’t improved at all.

”Is this an illusion?”

[No]

Lin Sheng: ...

”System, why is this?”

”Why hasn’t my consciousness improved after I devoured these creatures?”

Since this involved a question of talent, Lin Sheng bypassed ”Omniscience” and directly posed the question to the System.

[Ding]

The System’s mechanical voice, tinged with a hint of disdain, rang in Lin Sheng’s ears:

[The Host’s consciousness is at the ”Truth Level”]

”Uh...”

Hearing the System’s disdainful mechanical voice, Lin Sheng also realized what was going on.

Lin Sheng, who possessed a Truth Level consciousness, was like a cultivator who possessed the ”Great Luo Dao Fruit,” while these Great Crawler Worms were merely equivalent to a few wisps of spiritual energy.

A cultivator’s ”Great Luo Dao Fruit” could not be improved simply by absorbing a few wisps of spiritual energy; similarly, Lin Sheng could not improve his ”Truth Level” consciousness simply by devouring a few Great Crawler Worms.

It was already good enough that he didn’t have to expel these consciousnesses as impurities.

After figuring this out, Lin Sheng didn’t feel any regret.

Although Great Crawler Worms couldn’t be used to improve consciousness strength, some of the racial talents they had evolved were still somewhat desirable.

For example, the talent for using consciousness to observe one’s surroundings.

Although Lin Sheng could also use his consciousness to observe his surroundings, that involved his consciousness leaving his body and needed to be used in conjunction with ”Evolution.”

Without an invincible state, Lin Sheng’s physical body would be very vulnerable to attack.

Although the radar obtained through ”Mechanical Scourge” could also achieve the aforementioned purpose, a radar was ultimately just a radar and couldn’t truly see certain details.

In the following time, Lin Sheng looked for traces of Great Crawler Worms in the Black Belt while avoiding the bombardment from the Origin Star warships.

During the previous period, the Origin Star people on Eighteen Stars seemed to have discovered that their home planet had been destroyed; during that time, the Origin Star people frantically dropped Antimatter Bombs on Eighteen Stars.

Upon learning of the situation on their home planet, the first thought in the mind of the Origin Star Chief was that the landing point of the Warp Tunnel had changed.

It refused to believe that the home planet and the home solar system were gone.

But after comparing the positions of distant celestial bodies in space, the Chief could only accept this painful fact that distressed the entire Expeditionary Force.

Their home planet was gone; as Origin Star people on an expedition to an alien planet, they didn’t even know who the culprit responsible for destroying their home planet was.

Although they knew Lin Sheng had also been to their home planet, the Origin Star people didn’t believe Lin Sheng possessed such capability.

Most Origin Star people believed this was the work of the High-Level Civilization that had created the ”Sin Star.”

As for Lin Sheng, that strange creature, the Origin Star people believed he might have been wiped out along with the Origin Star or perhaps retrieved by that unknown High-Level Civilization.

Losing their home planet made the Origin Star people incredibly furious; ”Fusion Strike” almost never ceased during that period.

During that time, Lin Sheng cursed the Origin Star people in his heart for wasting energy while avoiding their bombardment within the Black Belt.

Facing the now-crazed Origin Star people, only a fool would confront them head-on.

Lin Sheng didn’t yet know that the Origin Star people believed he was dead.

He believed that as long as it wasn’t a carpet search, the Origin Star people would never find him.

And once the Origin Star people conducted a carpet search of Eighteen Stars, their forces would become very scattered; that would be the time for Lin Sheng to counterattack.
