The World's Richest Man: Start with the Daily Intelligence System

51: Chapter 51 Captain Zuo was stunned. At that moment, Zuo Hemei was sitting in a large conference room listening to a report from a subordinate.

The captain of the Criminal Police Brigade being stabbed by a thug was nothing less than the greatest provocation to the police force, so the entire Criminal Police Brigade immediately gathered a group of elites to form a special task force, with Zuo Hemei serving as the team leader.

At that moment, a subordinate stood at the podium, pointing at the projection screen and reporting:

”Based on the information we currently have, the suspect was wearing a gray cloth jacket and a baseball cap, is about 170 cm tall, a man around 40 years old, with a medium build.”

An officer raised his hand to ask, ”Any leads on the murder weapon?”

”We’ve combed the scene several times already. No murder weapon was found at the scene. It’s suspected that the perpetrator took it away.”

Another officer raised his hand, ”Did nearby surveillance cameras capture the suspect? Can we determine their escape route?”

Zuo Hemei waved her hand at this point, ”I’ve just confirmed with colleagues from the surveillance network. The location where Captain Jiang was attacked is a remote alley in the suburbs. The nearby camera coverage is incomplete. Coupled with the dim lighting in the middle of the night, if the suspect moved through the alleys, we cannot pinpoint the escape route.”

Then she said loudly, ”Orders!” The officers stood up. ”Immediately mobilize all police forces for a large-scale investigation. Simultaneously, arrange for local police officers to conduct door-to-door visits, striving to find witnesses or suspicious individuals.”

The officers saluted and then filed out one after another.

Only then did Zuo Hemei sit down, massaging her temples. Usually, perpetrators harm people for robbery, sexual assault, or because of a grudge against the victim. The most troublesome cases are like this one. Captain Jiang’s career had apprehended countless criminals. From another perspective, those who hate him are surely also countless. You simply don’t know who did it; you can’t screen suspects based on personal relationships or motives.

”It seems we can only pin our hopes on the large-scale search,” Zuo Hemei murmured. However, the probability of success in this kind of operation could only be described as finding a needle in a haystack, and it was time-consuming and labor-intensive.

Right at that moment, an officer hurriedly walked into the conference room.

Zuo Hemei looked up and asked, ”Any new leads?”

The officer said with a strange expression, ”Not a new lead, but we found the perpetrator.”

Zuo Hemei instantly stood up from her chair, ”What did you say!? Where is the suspect?”

”Right at the entrance of our brigade.”

????????

At the entrance of the Criminal Police Brigade at that moment.

Four or five officers stood with Zhang Wei and his group. Their formation subtly surrounded the few people in the middle. The bound Tian Lirong lay stiffly on the floor, still unconscious.

Regarding the people before them, the officers were half-believing, half-doubting. Mainly because what the other party said was too outrageous.

As the pinnacle of criminal investigation in the entire City, they still had no leads on the case. And you few youngsters caught him easily? You’re probably just drunk and messing around.

At that moment, Zuo Hemei quickly walked to the entrance, ”It’s you?” She was surprised to see Zhang Wei and his group.

”Officer Zuo, we meet again,” Zhang Wei smiled and nudged the Tian Lirong on the ground with his foot. ”We found the perpetrator who stabbed Captain Jiang based on a video online. This person’s clothes and physical characteristics match exactly what Captain Jiang described.” Zhang Wei repeated the same story he had told Liu Haorui and the others earlier.

Zuo Hemei listened and felt a wave of frustration. If it weren’t for the fact that this person had saved Captain Jiang yesterday, she would have kicked them out right now.

”Your name is Zhang Wei, right?” Zuo Hemei said patiently, ”Too impulsive! Someone matching the description isn’t necessarily the criminal. Middle-aged men around 170 cm tall wearing gray cloth jackets—there are countless such people. Based on this alone, you absolutely cannot identify the perpetrator. Quickly release him. We’ll pacify him from the side in a moment and properly apologize to him. Otherwise, if he wakes up and sues you for intentional injury, you’ll be in trouble.”

”But what if there’s a gun in his luggage?” Zhang Wei smiled confidently and pulled the pistol out of the burlap bag.

Instantly, the officers drew their service weapons, pointing them at Zhang Wei and shouting, ”Drop the gun! Now!”

”This backfired!” Zhang Wei had just wanted to show off a bit, to experience the thrill of Conan holding the entire room in his hand. Instead, he instantly had five or six guns pointed at his head. Scared stiff, he didn’t dare move. He hurriedly shouted, ”Don’t get excited! Don’t get excited! I’m on your side! This was found in the perpetrator’s luggage.” As he spoke, he pointed to the nylon bag in his hand.

Zuo Hemei also snapped back to reality at this moment, signaled her subordinates to lower their guns, and quickly walked over to take the bag.

Inside, besides some clothes, there were three or four controlled knives. She also took the gun from Zhang Wei’s hand and examined it carefully. She asked in surprise, ”All these belong to this person?”

Zhang Wei wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and said, ”Yes, these are what this person retrieved when he returned to his rented room. With a pistol belonging to him too, he’s definitely involved.”

Only at this point did Zuo Hemei take it seriously. She hurriedly instructed the officers beside her, ”Wake him up and take him to the interrogation room for questioning. Notify the forensics department to send someone to compare fingerprints.” After arranging everything, she said to Zhang Wei and his group, ”Sorry about the misunderstanding just now. But you can’t leave until the results come out. Come to my office and wait.”

Naturally, the group didn’t refuse. They followed Zuo Hemei to her office. Liu Haorui then leaned close to Zhang Wei and whispered, ”Lao Zhang, tell the truth. When those guns were pointed at your head just now, did you wet your pants?”

”Get lost!” Zhang Wei was embarrassed and angry. In fact, he had almost wet himself. After all, he didn’t live in the free United States; how could he withstand such a bigStimulate (stimulus/shock)?

Zuo Hemei asked Zhang Wei about the details of the capture. She also marveled at their incredibly lucky streak—just randomly watching a video online and finding a suspect. It wasn’t that she didn’t suspect they might be deceiving her. Mainly, there was no motive. Who would unnecessarily suspect awarm-hearted citizens (concerned citizen) who caught an armed thug? Besides, they had saved Captain Jiang’s life yesterday.

At that moment, an officer hurriedly walked in, ”Captain Zuo, we have results from the fingerprint comparison!”

”Oh?” Zuo Hemei also became excited, ”Do the suspect’s fingerprints match those found on Captain Jiang’s clothing?”

The officer said with a strange expression, ”No! They matched with the internal fingerprint database. This person is named Tian Lirong, a wanted fugitive with multiple murders to his name. There’s a reward of 3 million yuan for him.”

Zuo Hemei was dumbfounded. What kind of development was this? How did it get entangled with a wanted fugitive?

Liu Haorui and the others were also shocked, ”Good grief! A wanted fugitive with a 3 million yuan reward? We caught him?”

Only Zhang Wei in the entire room knew the whole story. However, hearing about the 3 million, his heart also surged with excitement. That was a huge sum of money. 3 million back in his hometown could build a three-story mansion, complete withLuxury decoration (luxury renovations).

He smiled and said to Zuo Hemei, ”Captain Zuo, as you can see, we caught this person. You must help us secure the reward.”

”Don’t worry,” Zuo Hemei was also quite happy that a wanted fugitive had been caught, preventing him from continuing to harm others. ”The reward set by the state definitely won’t be a cent short. I’ll file a report with the Beijing headquarters shortly.”

After sitting for a while longer, the phone on the desk rang. Zuo Hemei picked up the receiver and heard the other party say, ”Captain Zuo, the suspect has woken up. Should we begin the interrogation immediately?”

”Begin immediately. It’s confirmed he’s a fugitive on the run. Pay attention to the interrogation methods; dig out as much substantial information as possible from this guy.” After saying this, she put down the phone and smiled at everyone, ”Let’s go! Let’s go see for ourselves on-site.”
