The World's Richest Man: Start with the Daily Intelligence System

100: Chapter 100 Free LaborThe winter temperatures in Shenghai generally hover around zero degrees Celsius. Although it is not as cold as the north, the damp, cold air accompanied by the biting wind easily penetrates clothing, bringing a bone-chilling cold.

Tang Yi was somewhat disheveled at the moment. He was hunched over next to a trash can on a street corner, vomiting foul-smelling bile.

He recalled how vigorous and spirited he had been when he first returned from studying abroad in Korea, thinking about taking his family’s company to new heights.

However, every film project he managed either had the lead actor quit or the production team run into trouble. Not a single project successfully launched. Various rumors continuously spread within the company, and one of his contracted artists even posted on the Social Media Platform exposing him for abusing his power through improper relationships. Everything left him completely overwhelmed.

Finally, he managed to secure a television drama opportunity from his father, but during filming, a major scandal erupted when gunpowder exploded and injured an actor. Filming for the drama was immediately halted. He could still remember the disappointment in his father’s eyes at that moment. From then on, he was removed from his position, becoming a good-for-nothing second-generation heir who only knew how to eat and wait for death.

It had only been three years since he was ready to show off his abilities, and now even a minor supervisor in the company dared to speak to him like that. A flash of unwillingness crossed Tang Yi’s eyes, but he was helpless.

”You look unconvinced.”

At this time, a young man’s voice came from behind him.

Tang Yi staggered to his feet, turned his head, and looked.

A handsome young man was leaning against a car parked on the roadside, watching him.

After a moment of silence, Tang Yi turned around and prepared to leave without saying a word.

”Indeed, isn’t it quite nice just being a rich second generation loafing around? Being told off a few times won’t cost you a piece of flesh,” Zhang Wei continued to provoke him.

Tang Yi turned back and looked coldly at Zhang Wei: ”That’s right, I am a useless freeloader. Whatever you want from me, don’t waste your effort.”

Zhang Wei was slightly surprised. This person had seen through his ulterior motives at a glance; apparently, he wasn’t just an idiot. Thinking of this, a flicker of interest arose in him.

”Even a waste can be put to use. Do you dare to get in my car and go somewhere with me? I happen to have something where even a waste like you can be of some help.”

Tang Yi, instead, froze for a moment. He hadn’t expected the man in front of him to say such a thing. His stubborn streak flared up.

”As if I’d be afraid of you.” Saying this, he was about to get into the car.

Zhang Wei stopped him and handed him a bottle of water, saying, ”Rinse your mouth first. I certainly don’t want the car smelling.”

An hour later, Tang Yi, sitting in the passenger seat, pointed ahead and asked, ”So why did you bring me here?”

He never expected that this man would drive silently for an hour only to bring him to the riverbank of Chongming Island. If it weren’t for the fact that the other person didn’t have any weapons in his hands, he would have thought he was about to be killed and thrown into the river.

As he spoke, under Tang Yi’s horrified gaze, Zhang Wei pulled out a shovel from the trunk.

”Is your own crow’s mouth really that accurate?” He had already lost the stubbornness from before, retreating repeatedly and shouting at Zhang Wei: ”Brother, don’t be impulsive, we can discuss anything. Please don’t walk down the path of illegal crime.”

Zhang Wei was somewhat speechless. He directly threw a pair of rubber boots and the shovel in front of Tang Yi.

”What are you thinking? Hurry up and put them on to work. Maybe we can still make it back to the City Name for morning tea.”

”Huh?” Tang Yi looked completely bewildered. He looked at the pitch-black mudflat before him. He was a rich second generation, after all. Was this man asking him to dig in the mud?

”Hurry up, stop the nonsense. If you don’t dig, you can stay here and freeze. I won’t take you back later.” Zhang Wei was already fully dressed, waved at Tang Yi, and walked down the embankment.

Tang Yi struggled for a moment. Being alone by the dark riverbank was scary after all. Gritting his teeth, he put on the rubber boots and followed him down the embankment.

Since it was late at night and no one was nearby, Zhang Wei didn’t bother with superficial courtesies. He moved toward the distance, following the location shown by the intelligence system.

The two walked step by step on the mudflat. As the depth of the silt increased, every step sunk past their ankles.

Tang Yi was starting to get impatient. What exactly did this man bring him here for?

Just then, Zhang Wei finally reached the location above the meteorite. He checked the intelligence system. It showed the meteorite was one meter deep underground. Not too deep. Fortunately, this meteorite had been shifted by the river water after enduring long years. Otherwise, a freshly fallen meteorite would be at least tens of meters underground, which human power couldn’t excavate.

”Alright, start digging here.” Zhang Wei didn’t intend to do the work himself. His talk about ’waste utilization’ was not a joke.

Tang Yi stared speechlessly at the mud before him. He felt he must be crazy to have believed the nonsense this person was spouting.

”You don’t even dare to dig some mud? Just treat it as venting, isn’t that good too?”

Tang Yi was stunned. He stared fixedly at the mudflat before him. After a long while, he gritted his teeth, raised the shovel, and dug down forcefully. At this moment, he exerted all his strength, as if trying to vent all the grievances he had suffered over the past few years.

Zhang Wei watched quietly from the side as the pit before him grew larger and deeper. After an unknown amount of time, when Tang Yi’s entire lower body was no longer visible,

There was a ’clang’ sound. The vibration transmitted through the end of Tang Yi’s shovel was clearly different from before. He subconsciously stopped digging.

”Stop using the shovel. Scoop the thing out with your hands.” Zhang Wei raised his flashlight and urged him on.

Tang Yi had originally just intended to vent his inner frustration, but unexpectedly, there was actually something buried underneath? Curiosity arose in him too. He bent down and started scooping.

Soon, an irregularly shaped stone block the size of a human head came into view. Strangely, this stone block was incredibly heavy. The surface of the grayish-brown rock was covered with dense small holes, and when the flashlight beam shone on it, there was a metallic reflection.

Tang Yi was a bit confused. What was this thing?

”What are you spacing out for? Hurry up and hand it over!” Zhang Wei urged. Standing by the Yangtze River in the middle of the night for so long, he was freezing and could barely stand it.

Tang Yi obediently did as he was told, handing the stone to Zhang Wei outside the pit, then climbed out and asked curiously, ”How did you know there was something down here? I thought this whole area looked the same?”

”You’ll know in the future.” With that, he hoisted the meteorite and walked toward the shore.

Zhang Wei got into the car and turned the air conditioning to maximum before he finally recovered. The wind by the river was strong and mixed with moisture; coming out in the middle of a winter night was truly unbearable.

”Since you proved to be somewhat useful, I’ll treat you to breakfast. Want to come?”

Tang Yi had dug such a huge pit, and his stomach was terribly hungry now. So he nodded in agreement. Besides, he still had many questions he wanted to ask the man before him.

”My name is Zhang Wei. If you have questions, we can talk after breakfast.”

With that, he stepped on the gas and drove toward the City Name. Since the cross-river bridge was opened, driving from Shenghai City to Chongming Island no longer required taking a ferry.

It took another hour for Zhang Wei to drive the car into the Shenghai Museum parking lot.

”Weren’t we going to eat? Why are we at the Museum?” Tang Yi felt that the man named Zhang Wei was becoming increasingly incomprehensible. What he said and what he did were never consistent.

Zhang Wei motioned for him to follow, and the two arrived at the cafeteria. The Shenghai Museum often had research fanatics like Dr. Zhao working overtime all night, so the cafeteria operated even late at night.

Zhang Wei checked the time; it was almost five o’clock. He said to the master chef behind the display case, ”Is breakfast ready yet?”

The chef recognized him as one of the ’freeloading trio.’ He looked at the steamer basket and said, ”Right now, only steamed buns and dumplings are ready. Noodles and things like that won’t be ready until after six.”

Zhang Wei nodded, ordered a few meat buns, took two bags of soy milk, and said a word to the chef: ”Director Yu is here today, use his meal card for this.”

The chef nodded, inwardly complaining endlessly. Director Yu must have done terrible things in his past life to run into you guys; it’s too miserable.
