The World's Richest Man: Start with the Daily Intelligence System

81: Chapter 81 The Abandoned Delivery Box”Hello? Officer Zuo, this is Zhang Wei. I’ve found someone tailing me. Does your Criminal Police Brigade handle this?”

Zhang Wei called Zuo Hemei directly; the Criminal Police Brigade was definitely the best destination for those in the underworld.

Zuo Hemei took it very seriously and asked for more details. Zhang Wei claimed he noticed the tailing by chance on his way back, and mentioned that the two lackeys were still at the door.

Officer Zuo thought for a moment and said, ”Don’t worry about it. Just sleep soundly and don’t go out tonight.”

After hanging up, Zhang Wei felt relieved. Catching a few thugs was child’s play for the Criminal Police Brigade. Feeling increasingly drowsy, he closed his eyes and drifted off to sleep.

An hour later, Brother Bao was playing mahjong in a card room when the door was kicked open.

Just as he was about to lose his temper, four or five SWAT Officers armed with live ammunition burst in. They shouted at them, ”Everyone, squat down! Hurry up!”

Brother Bao instantly became incredibly well-behaved, quickly squatting on the ground without daring to make a sound.

Captain Zuo walked in and looked at him. ”You’re Brother Bao? I heard you’re a figure in the underworld?”

”I wouldn’t dare, I wouldn’t dare. I’m just an unemployed vagrant.” No joke, with the anti-gang crackdowns over the years, so many underworld figures had been caught. Who would dare admit to being one?

Zuo Hemei sneered, ”That’s not for you to decide.” She waved her hand. ”Take them all away!”

Early the next morning, Zhang Wei received a call from Officer Zuo. ”That Brother Bao confessed everything last night. A man named Wang Jiahao incited him to harm you. I’ve already brought him to the brigade for interrogation on charges of intentional injury. With solid evidence, the case will be settled soon.”

The Criminal Police Brigade’s efficiency was truly high. Zhang Wei hadn’t even provided Brother Bao’s location.

After thanking Zuo Hemei and promising to go to the Criminal Police Brigade in the afternoon to complete the specific procedures, Zhang Wei hung up.

Usually, the intelligence system updated in the middle of the night. Having grown accustomed to sleeping until noon, waking up so early felt a bit strange to him.

Thinking it over, he decided to go find Liu Haorui and retrieve that sapphire from the delivery outlet.

Walking into the living room, he saw An Xiaoxi just returning from walking the dog. Zhang Wei told her about the teething sticks and then asked, ”Do you know what Brother Rui is up to this morning?”

An Xiaoxi shook her head, tapped her phone a few times, and said, ”He’s currently practicing driving at the driving school.”

Zhang Wei nodded and was about to head out when he suddenly reacted, feeling uneasy. ”You’re actually monitoring him in real-time?” Was this girl monitoring him too?

”What are you thinking? I’m doing this because I’m worried something might happen to you guys, okay? It’s not like I’m obsessed with it.” An Xiaoxi rolled her eyes.

Liu Haorui was a big influencer, and Zhang Wei was worth tens of millions. If someone had ill intentions toward them, they could at least be located immediately.

Zhang Wei didn’t know what to say. The girl was just worried about their safety and didn’t try to hide it from him. However, given Wang Jiahao’s attempt to hire someone to harm him last night, Zhang Wei was also a bit worried about their safety. It seemed he needed to find a way to get a bodyguard.

Driving straight to the driving school, Zhang Wei saw Liu Haorui haggling with a vendor at the entrance. Curious, he called out to him.

Seeing Zhang Wei arrive, Liu Haorui didn’t delay. He scanned a QR code to pay, picked up a plastic bag, and walked over.

Once he got in the car, Zhang Wei asked curiously, ”Old Liu, what did you just buy?”

Liu Haorui excitedly shook the plastic bag in his hand. ”Conan posters! I bought a whole stack.”

Zhang Wei looked at him in confusion. ”I don’t recall you being a Conan fan. What decent guy likes the God of Death? Aren’t they all in it for Vermouth?”

Liu Haorui was smug. ”You don’t understand. Hanging Conan means ’Hard to Fail’! The more I hang, the easier it’ll be to pass Subject Two. That elementary schooler is very effective.”

”As long as you’re happy.” Zhang Wei was speechless. That vendor was a marketing genius, selling Conan posters at a driving school entrance. If Liu Haorui spent more effort practicing his driving, would he need these little tricks?

The two of them arrived at the SF Express outlet on Xiayan Road. Considering he was about to find a sapphire, Zhang Wei hadn’t brought An Xiaoxi along, as she would surely snatch it if she were there.

”Old Liu, today your foster father is personally acting as your cameraman, so perform well.” Zhang Wei briefly explained what the intelligence mentioned to Liu Haorui, then mounted the phone on a selfie stick and started recording.

”Hello everyone! I’m your unimaginably handsome Interview Brother. Today we’ve come to a certain outlet in City Name, I heard they’re selling abandoned deliveries here. Let’s go and investigate!”

The livestream started, and Liu Haorui skillfully delivered his opening remarks. It had to be said, after filming videos for a while, he had become quite professional.

Liu Haorui walked into the outlet’s office and said loudly, ”Excuse me, who is the person in charge?”

A man stood up. ”I am. Oh? I think I’ve seen your videos. You’re Interview Brother, right?” Unexpectedly, the person in charge recognized him.

Liu Haorui was extremely proud. ”Brothers, did you see that? That’s the prestige of your Interview Brother.” After exchanging some pleasantries, he learned the person in charge was named Zhou Guangan, from D Province.

By now, many viewers were trickling into the livestream, with the number directly surpassing the ten-thousand mark. Many comments flashed across the screen.

”Interview Brother is actually livestreaming? Is he going to pull some stunts?”

”Front row for the drama.”

”What good stuff has he dug up this time?”

After chatting with Zhou Guangan for a bit, Liu Haorui asked, ”We’re here today to help you clear your inventory. I heard there are many abandoned deliveries.”

Zhou Guangan nodded and led them to a warehouse. Opening the door, they saw it filled with delivery boxes of all sizes.

”These were all rejected, and the senders didn’t request a return, so they’ve just been piling up here. We’re usually too busy to clear them out, and they’ve just kept accumulating, so we had to find a way to sell them.”

Liu Haorui asked about the price. Zhou Guangan smiled and said, ”It’s basically just helping us clear out junk, so it’s practically a giveaway. Let’s say 8 yuan per delivery.”

With so many deliveries, Zhang Wei couldn’t be bothered to find which one specifically contained the sapphire, so he gave Liu Haorui a look.

Liu Haorui understood immediately. ”Brothers in front of the screen, give us a follow and some free likes. I’m taking all these deliveries today. I’ll livestream opening these delivery blind boxes for your enjoyment. Let’s see if we can break even today.”

The comments were full of anticipation. The number of viewers kept rising, making it quite a lively scene.

Zhou Guangan was quite happy to hear this and called over two couriers to help count the items. After a short while...

”There are 231 deliveries in total, making it 1,848 yuan,” Zhou Guangan said.

Liu Haorui scanned the code to pay and simply asked Zhou Guangan to bring over a table, sitting right at the warehouse entrance to open the boxes on the spot.

”Brothers, opening blind boxes now, remember to follow. I don’t know what kind of good stuff the first one will yield,” Liu Haorui said expectantly to the camera, picking up a delivery box and shaking it.

”This box feels quite light, and I can’t hear anything inside.” With that, he used a utility knife to slice the tape and showed the inside of the box to everyone.

It was completely empty, not even a speck of dust.

Instantly, both the scene and the livestream went silent.
