The World's Richest Man: Start with the Daily Intelligence System

55: Chapter 55 Bought a Villa”Over eight million!” The parents looked at each other in shock. Zhang Wei briefly explained the matter of the imperial seal to them, though he simply claimed it was an accidental find.

”Anyway, that’s the gist of it.” Zhang Wei spread his hands. ”So, our family isn’t short on money to buy a house anymore.”

To Zhang Weiguo and Li Huihong, an imperial seal of china worth over a hundred million sounded like a fairy tale. However, after Zhang Wei’s persistent explanations, they slowly began to accept it. Their son had been honest since he was a child; there was no reason for him to deceive them.

”My suggestion is to check out the real estate in town tomorrow. If there’s nothing suitable, we’ll buy in the provincial capital. For one, the capital has more listings and more options. Furthermore, the environment, medical care, and security in the capital are incomparable to this town. Plus, it’ll be more convenient for me when I come back from City Name.”

Li Huihong hadn’t planned on saying much, but that last sentence really struck a chord. She made up her mind and said, ”We’ll go straight to the provincial capital to look at houses tomorrow. It’s too hard on my son to travel home.”

With Mom making the final call and Dad having no objections, the family meeting concluded. Zhang Wei washed up and returned to his room.

The furnishings inside hadn’t changed at all; the table, chairs, and cabinets were all wiped spotless. It was clear his mother had been cleaning it regularly. Lying on his single bed, he felt like he had returned to his student days.

First, he called An Xiaoxi to let her know he had arrived safely. She told him that the Louis XIII had been successfully recovered by Liu Haorui, who was currently looking for a buyer. Zhang Wei told her to handle it as she saw fit; he would just wait for the money to be transferred.

Then he spent some time on the phone with Sun Yicheng. Having just pushed past their limits, the two were in the midst of a passionate honeymoon phase.

In the middle of it, Sun Yicheng even sent him a selfie. In the photo, Sun Yicheng was completely unclothed, standing before a steam-covered mirror. She had wiped a small spot clear on her face, revealing her charming features, while the rest of her beauty remained hidden in the mist.

This sense of ”hiding half her face behind a lute” made Zhang Wei’s blood boil. He wished he could fly back to Shenghai City right now to take this girl down a peg.

After tossing and turning for a long time, he finally drifted off into a hazy sleep. By the time he woke up, it was almost noon.

He got up, washed, and, under his mother’s insistence, ate some breakfast. The two then hailed a taxi and headed for the provincial capital. His father stayed home to wait for news since it was difficult for him to move around.

Nowadays, the real estate market was full of woes, with prices having dropped nearly half from their peak. The provincial capital of Anwan Province was only moderately developed, barely managing to be classified as a first-tier City Name this year. Naturally, housing prices weren’t that high.

Zhang Wei didn’t waste any time and went straight to several villa developments. After looking around, he was very satisfied with a unit in Zhongning Villas.

Zhongning Villas was a well-known high-end residential area in the provincial capital. It had top-tier property management and was equipped with nearby hospitals, schools, and police stations. It could be said to be very comprehensive. Moreover, the environment was beautiful, with even an artificial lake in the garden, making it no different from a private park.

”This unit has a total area of 280 square meters, with one terrace, the basement, and the garage being gifted space. The actual area is 220 square meters. The unit price is 30,000 per square meter. If you pay in full, sir, I can apply for a 5% discount for you,” the saleswoman introduced enthusiastically.

With the current slump in the real estate market, if she closed this deal, she wouldn’t have to worry about her performance for the month.

Zhang Wei thought about it. He currently had 8.5 million in his account. Including the renovation costs, it was enough to buy this villa. Anyway, the three-million-yuan reward plus the one million from Shenghai City would be arriving in a few days. So, he didn’t need to worry about running out of money.

So, after discussing it with Li Huihong, he nodded. ”We’ll take this one. Full payment.”

The salesperson was overjoyed and quickly handled the paperwork for Zhang Wei.

”Mom, let’s put the house in your name. If something happens while I’m in City Name and the property management needs a signature, it won’t be convenient for me to come back. Besides, you’re the head of the household on the registration, aren’t you?”

”You silly child,” his mother said happily, not objecting.

The two then found a renovation company in the provincial capital to finalize the design plan. Afterward, they had a big meal at a restaurant before heading home.

Zhang Wei decided to carry his dad downstairs for a stroll. Since Zhang Weiguo was injured, the lack of an elevator in the building made it impossible for a wheelchair to go up or down. He hadn’t left the house in nearly half a year.

Li Huihong was someone who couldn’t stay idle. Thinking that the villa’s renovation would be finished in a month or two, she decided to list the old house with an agency first; it shouldn’t sit empty and could be rented out.

She never thought about selling the old house. For one, her son could make money now, so they didn’t need that little bit. Secondly, they had lived in this old house for so many years; even if they moved, they could keep it as a memento.

Arriving at the agency and sitting down, the young man who received them was quite professional. After hearing Li Huihong’s introduction, he immediately arranged the rental listing.

”Oh! Isn’t this Huihong? How rare! What brings you to a real estate agency?” a sharp female voice came from behind.

Turning around, it was none other than Zhang Wei’s annoying Second Maternal Aunt. Li Huihong frowned and turned away, not bothering to acknowledge her.

Since the last debt collection incident, the two families had completely cut off contact.

Seeing that Li Huihong remained silent, the Second Maternal Aunt thought she was afraid and became even more smug. ”Our family has saved up over three hundred thousand. We’re here to see if there are any listings we like to upgrade to a larger place. That way, it’ll be more respectable when our son gets married, won’t it?”

As she spoke, she leaned over to glance at the listing contract in front of Li Huihong, her face instantly filling with mockery. ”Are you here to list your house? It seems that boy Zhang Wei is unreliable after all. You’re finally selling the house because you can’t pay back the money? How tragic. If I’d known, you should have just sold it to our family. You could have saved on the agency fee.”

Li Huihong treated her words like hot air. Just then, the young man from the agency walked over. Thinking the two knew each other, he smiled and said, ”Auntie, you’ve misunderstood. This Sister Li is here to list her old house for rent. Her son is quite successful; he spent over six million to buy her a villa in the provincial capital. It’s that... oh right! Zhongning Villas. It’s very famous!”

The Second Maternal Aunt was completely dumbfounded. She couldn’t believe her ears. After a moment, she said exasperatedly, ”How could that bastard Zhang Wei from her family afford a house in Zhongning Villas! He must be talking nonsense. Yes! That must be it. They can’t even put food on the table, yet they’re still acting tough.”

Seeing the other party acting like a clown and becoming hysterical, Li Huihong nonchalantly took out the purchase contract and the payment receipt for Zhongning Villas from her bag. ”Believe it or not, what a coincidence. I just paid the money in the provincial capital this morning. I haven’t even brought the contract and receipt home yet.”

Seeing that it was actually true, the Second Maternal Aunt’s face turned completely dark, looking as if she were suffering from internal injuries.

”Oh, right. My son also paid two million for renovation today. You know, this villa is 280 square meters. Because it’s so large, the renovation costs are quite expensive.”

The Second Maternal Aunt’s arrogance was completely extinguished. With a cold snort, she fled in a panic.
